    Thanks for the tear down videos. And exposing how some of these speakers costing hundreds have cheaper cross overs than some costing much less. Namely the Sony SS-CS5's.

    These have a slight V shaped frequency.
    Makes for good low volume sound levels.
    Not for loudness but for movies and low volume sound reproduction while still supplying fairly decent sound.

      If it sounds good to you its audiophile.... there really is no agreed definition. There's so many things that could define audiophile but they don't suit everyone so finding the system that gives you goose bumps or brings a tear is your own personal journey.

    Late to the game since this review is now 3 years old but I think I can explain the use of a trapezoidal shaped cabinet, It helps to reduce internal reflections and minimize standing waves. Having parallel internal sufaces in a speaker (or a listening room) is not ideal.

    The Atmos speakers are primarily designed to sit on top of the floor standing speakers and its easier and looks better to have the connection at the bottom of the floor standing speakers, and this design was carried over to the bookshelf speakers.

    The reason they have 2 sets of posts and run the wires up is just for wiring efficiency. It’s more reasonable on the towers s807 & s809 because it puts the terminal posts all close to the floor. Sorta dumb for the bookshelf iteration but I guess for the sake of not having to make another set of atmos toppers with their own terminal posts they went with this design instead for all sizes. The only one that does not have the atmos topper ability is the s805

    Hey. I agree with you, at the expense of Jamo S 803. Sorry for the English, I write through a translator. It would be interesting if you appreciated the sound of the Magnat Shadow 203 speakers. They write that it is a very successful model, the sound is not much inferior to the Dynaudio DM 2/7, but the price tag is almost three times cheaper.

  • @MomchilNikolovPhoto

    By having the back of the speaker be wider, you avoid the side walls of the cabinet being parallel, which in turn helps with reducing/avoiding standing waves within the cabinet. Speaker design basics.

    Hey dude you're the perfect person to ask since you've had both, but I can pick up the Jamo S803 pair + S801 pair + S81 Center for 200 new on amazon or pay basically 200 for the DCM bookshelf speaker + dcm center. What would be the better purchase if you had to choose and considering price points. Audio wise not design wise. Thanks!

    • @iowaudioreviews
      @iowaudioreviews  4 роки тому

      Thats a tough choice. After seeing both my videos most people would agree the DCM are a better quality speaker and that is reflected in their original msrp which was much higher than what they go for now on ebay. Seems to me MTX has discontinued the dcm speakers and we are reaping the awesome price cuts till they're gone. But I'd have to take the Jamo, its a much better deal and they still perform very well for the money.

Something like the Jamo S803 and a Topping MX3 mini amp would be a sweet little package and be a bit cheaper but may not perform quite as good. Check out my new vid of the S803 vs CS5. If you untwist the RED and BLACK binding posts all the way, then any banana plug will fit securely with absolutely no movement. You should understand this. Tests and reviews are always flawed when the individual doesn't fully understand common sense.

    • @iowaudioreviews
      @iowaudioreviews  2 роки тому

      Yeah yeah I know and have done this with other speakers BUT its NOT how binding posts are to be used and isn't demonstrated by any manufacturer. A CHEAP shallow binding post also has much less surface area with the banana. They're cheap crappy binding post on all these budget speakers just enough to get the job done and 99% of the people that buy them probably care less or don't notice. I understand more than I really care to and usually don't care to anymore. You can do a video demonstrating this genius you posses, congratulations.

    • @iowaudioreviews
      @iowaudioreviews  2 роки тому

      1. They're not the chrapest speakers, more of a VERY popular budget range. For the money some of them are better than others and discriminating between the good and bad things is part of reviewing. Yes some budget speakers do have decent posts and wiring so yes I'm gonna complain when other brands cheap out on it and ask the same or more money. I've had $150 speakers with same build quality as $300 and vise versa. 2. Yes I build speakers but I'm not going to review them because nobody else can buy them they only matter to me. I buy consumer speakers to review and sometimes compare to my own DIY stuff. Also just being an audiophile we "apparently not you" like buying lots of different audio equipment to just try out and compare. 3. Its not the best analogy but it works and my video's aren't marked as child friendly so who cares. Clearly you lack some common sense and perspective then comment without thinking. Have you noticed other UA-camrs that review this price range of speakers complain about the same things I do..... fukking wierd huh.

      Didn't think of it at the moment I guess, I don't run off a script like many other UA-camrs pimping products. What a waste because these speakers still measure like garbage....lol. Everyone should know that....lol. Everyone doesn't. They just know how to regurgitate crap they've read on forums. Most people know nothing about building speakers and acoustics.
