What no one tells you in these videos, which is what really helped me a lot by the way, is before the approach when your looking at the pins and holding the ball in your left/right hand, make sure to always twist your wrist just far enough to where your pointer finger is pointed to the pins. This helped me get more rotation with zero to no effort. Then once you actually go around the ball then you get more revs
Thank you sir! This may be a silly question but can you elaborate a little bit more? Am i pointing my finger at the spot (pins/boards) im aiming for or just at the pins in general? If you could elaborate I think it would help my shot a lot. Thanks in advance!
@FishingDML look at how Benji's hand is positioned at 0:28. See how his hand is way far inside and turned such that his index finger is on the bottom? That's a commonly used way to add revs, because when you start coming around the ball it'll force your fingers farther under it than if you had your hand more vertical and behind the ball. Personally, it's harder for me to hold it that way though, so I go with a moderate hand angle that keeps the weight more on my inserted fingers, such as at 0:41.
Also, you can still stay in the same position and move your eyes to half a board because you are hitting into the friction on the outer part of the lane for the ball to come back stronger into the pocket flush with a strike. I did this few times and worked every time. But don't overthink it and give it a shot. Also, you can expand your fingers on the ball for more side rotation (axis rotation) or slow down the ball speed to get a strike. There are all kinds of ways you can do with the same ball without changing balls which some bowlers do which is not right or wrong but something the bowler feels with conviction. Good luck with your career.
Move your eyes about 6 inches - 1 foot closer to the dots (keep the same mark). It’ll help your ball get into the roll sooner and have more energy to drive through the pins without deflecting off the pocket. Moving 2 boards right, and your mark 1 board right will give the same result as well. Lastly, come around the ball more. Again, same result.
If you watch slow-mo videos of pros like ej tackett, tommy jones and michael tang, their hand's facing outward to the right at the top and it rotates as it comes down so the ball goes from outside to the inside. Watch "Super Slow Motion Bowling Releases at the PBA - Full HD!" By the time the ball's passing their leg, their hand is already twisting into the handshake position. That twisting from the very top all the way past the foot creates massive revs. Their hand's between 45 to 60 degrees past their shoe
I think all these pros can adjust the hand position depending on the lane conditions, so maybe that particular slo mo he was coming around earlier to get more revs sooner, whereas staying under longer will help ball skid more and hit harder down lane.
I am new to bowling and maybe I am just stupid but I cannot figure out how to correctly grip the bowling ball with my hand while swinging. I've been told I should have a loose grip and there shouldn't be any tension in my fingers but I'm afraid the ball will just drop during the backswing.
its all the same concept bowled 2 handed for 5 years 4 300s 2 800s that way i used a plastic ball up 10 also did use resin balls my biggest issue with resin was i could never put the ball on my hands in the same spot so even if i released it the same the weight block was spinning different but back to same concept if your roll is forward you will get a long even small reaction if you spin it alot sideways it will skid far and snap hard find the middle of that and keep it the same
This is helpful but I find most women (aside from Daria Pajak) are unable to do this, I assume because of how we are built and our upper body strength. I’ve been working on this for several years and I can do it with the one step but not a full approach.
I noticed your pinky isn’t expanded. I’ve been hooking the ball with my index and pinky fingers both fully expanded. I’m gonna try your method to see how I do
Sure keep your hand under the ball but you say nothing about the twisting motion you put on your hand to make it spin. For decades all these instructors ever talk about was just releasing the ball but never cover the spin upon release. Thank goodness new UA-camrs cover this part but this guy didn't
This is “textbook” but it doesn’t work for everyone. I watch PBA bowlers on TV and constantly rewind and pause when they release the ball and not all of them are under the equator when releasing the ball.
Does this guy swing for the other team? Look at the signs , pink shoes, great hair , accent and ridiculously good looking. Only thing bad is those glasses

Seems like great advice. I will definitely give this a try next time I bowl! Thanks!

@@DainslaifAh +nods+ Thanks a lot for pointing those out
Thank you so much for the advice I just bowled a 196 tonight at league 🙌🏾
Great video. One of the best I've seen on hooking.
Lots of great information, Benjy. I'll try them when I go to my next practice session. By the way, nice shoes!
Thanks for the tips, greetings from Belgium.
Very informative video!!
This was so helpful! Adjustments for flat and ring 10s please 😊
Try moving 1 board with your feet right if you're a righty and left if you're a lefty. You can also try moving back 4-5 inches on the approach.

Loved it, loved it, loved it! 👍
3:20. USBC rules allow you to put surface on your ball as long as you do it before practice is over
Thats what he was getting at before competition starts
thank you for the useful information.
very well and understandably explained

Do you need to relax/uncup the right hand when releasing the ball? Or just keep the hand cupped?
What I have seen when demonstrated is almost like you push the heel of your palm out as you release.
I don't speak English, and I watch your show regularly. It would be good if your video had Spanish subtitles and also for it to be more audiovisual.
Great video, thanks for sharing your knowledge.
Good advise brother
How heavy is the ball your throwing?
Saludos desde Guadalajara Benjy.
just do it yoyo and more forward roll, rotate the ball will make u rotate more in future.
Im getting thumb out first, staying under but no revs. Thumb half in and get great revs and hook. Something isn't jiving thumb in
Can you help me wit sliding, and constant release

Can you do a similar video for 2 handers?

I need tips! Why does my ball speed DRASTICALLY drop off when I do this? Talking down the 13mph and I have no clue why
Benjy How many pounds your ball?

My only question is, does the weight of a bowling ball make a difference in the way to learn how to hook it?
You said don't use the pad during competition can you use it before competition?
yes, you an use it during warmup. but once the game has started you may no longer alter the surface of your bowling ball
🤔 where is the position of thumb to ve fingers below the equator?
Do you have any tips for no thumb one handed bowlers
Yes. Use your thumb 😂
The same advice applies
You are already under the ball
すごい! 素晴らしい。
Cool
Anything for two-handers?
No thumb bowling tips

It's a matter of degree. And when you release the ball, you should FEEL that your fingers are under the equator, even they're not.
None of these videos tell the entire story of how to curve the ball.
It doesn’t work
Why is your pinky like that?
Habelter?!
it's just a common sense
