I wholeheartedly concur with the reviewer here. I drive a 1.4 Match DSG petrol and am delighted with it. It oozes class, is very comfortable, is assured on the road, and is very economical. Furthest I have been on a single trip thus far is 35 miles and for that my Polo returns 62 mpg and it has done on the four ocassions I've covered the journey. It actually reaches 63+ mpg but the final distance of parking up knocks it back, so 62 mpg it is :)
misleading info.... The 1.0 engine is slow and offers 58mpg. The 1.2TSI is much faster and produces it's touque much lower down, economy is not "similar" to the 1.0, it's better. 61mpg. save a bit more and get the 1.2TSI.
what a biased review, so it all perfect then, why is Vw always at the bottom end of build and reliability surveys. Also lots of hard plastics down below, we need a fair review not Vw brown nosing
Volkswagens are not reliable cars anymore. The amounts of fault my Passat has had is disgusting for a car which is not cheap. New engine due to oil pump failure. Fuel pump went, camshaft faulty. Lots of recalls, handbrake failed the list goes on.
No I think it is for everyone but VW are just not fun to drive. They are efficiently boring. A friend has a Golf and they are the same. My father used to have a Fiesta a few years ago and that is fun to drive. I have had in the past Seat Ibiza Cupra Sport and that was a nice firm ride.
I travel down a lot of twisty country lanes and the Fiesta used to be excellent and made going to work enjoyable. The car I have now feels like it is going to put me in a ditch at a 40 corner so I am looking for fun but also safe. I do go A to B but I also want it to be enjoyable. I never travel an A road if I can avoid it. I do not mind a longer distance if I can keep moving.
misfit I drive a Golf and a fiesta, and the Golf is secure, but I don’t feel I could steer around a corner quickly. The fiesta, has pin point steering. I went around a sharp corner at 25 mph and there wasn’t any issues
The build quality of this car is very overrated. After taking one out for a mornings unattended test drive I took it back after 1 hour. The interior is not as well put together as VW would like you to believe. The door cards creaked and flexed when pressed, as did other parts of the interior and it had its fair share of rattles and buzzes.
thats weird cause we have owned all of the last 4 shapes that came out with one of our cars now on 135000km without any problems. Chuck yours up to a bad experience.
The A3 has much less stuff going off in the interior. Its pretty minimalistic so there is less things to rattle. It does feel very well constructed though. As good as my old Accord if not better in some places.

good review. I drove both petrol and diesel. both very nice. My only criticism is that lacks some fun comparing to a clio or a fiesta
but both of those are ugly

Would you recommend this as a first car?
+Nadia K HI Nadia, It is quite expensive as a first car ( depending on your budget of course) but it is a great car.

Does the 1.2 tsi model have a touch screen entertainment system?
+John W does it have USB input
United are 💩
How does this match up against the Audi a1? Nobody has done such a review yet!
Since they both share the same mechanical parts there's not a lot in it.
Daniel Huynh more expensive and smaller boot with less standard equipment. . yeah
Daniel Huynh my friends diesel maz 3 had injector failure at 58k resulting in a new engine....
Have fun at the parts counter.
it is super car i want to buy it now
I love polo car
14+ second 0-60 is considered adequate in Europe? Talk about culture shock...
Well this one is more for the city run around rather than acceleration. 1.2 TSI is a lot quicker
1.2 tsi has a 0-60 of 6.5 seconds
PoorLifeChoices Does it f**k. Maybe the GTI. 1.2 does it in around 10 secs
@@kwak1k 1.0 MPI does it in 12.5 seconds not 16 so much ignorance here
Is a iron an optional extra in your house. You look like a squatter!

@@misfit2022 what you mean by boring and fun ? Are you doing track days. It should be point A to B.

How strange. I have had one for 3 years and not a single rattle.
Must have driven a bad one but i went away disappointed. Worked out ok though as i ended up with an new A3 for not much more money per month.
And the A3 Is based on a golf and the polo shares bits with the golf lol.
