I love these interviews are putting out!! We are wanting to set up a retreat center and are considering some glamp sites to get started! The permitting process is one of the most intimidating things and this helps so much!!
Awesome! I'm glad you're finding value in these interviews. My goal is to chat with real people (not multimillionaires or influencers) to understand how they built, grew, and launched their businesses. My main objective is to pull out things that we all can learn from.
We are still struggling to get ours up and running. I have had two tents sitting in their boxes now for nearly two years because the local council has yet not given us the go ahead. I know we should have just set it all up and started our glamping like this guy did. We have just completed a second round of Public Notification and it stinks that this one neighbour (not really neighbour she owns land across the road )is putting a stink. Truely you have more people over for a birthday party and they are worried about two tents where people come to relax and does not have any impact or is not in view to anyone. We live on 40 acres and bought the property as a horse agistment business where many people came in and out. Now for two tents they are making it hard for us.
Just do it!!! 40 acres !!! Are you kidding me?? That’s like a whole freaking forest!!! Forget about permits and everything! Get it up and running and work on permits not the other way around . You could had made a tone of money just like this guy in the video. And Post your Airbnb link on here for all of us to come visit you 😊
@@romi929 Thank you for that positive feedback. YES, I've decided we are. I told my husband it was a big costly mistake. I will post a link but you do know we are located in Australia, not the US😃
I am enjoying your videos as I am working on doing a glamping business and I’m learning a lot from your shows, keep it up. I am based in Botswana in Africa.
I haven't watched it all yet, but I'm super excited. We closed on 20 acres with a nice view of the mountains. Trying not to rush anything but can't wait to have a build on it. Hearing these experiences, including the bad, is so helpful.
Thank you for commenting. Good luck on your project. 20 acres is amazing!!! My biggest piece of advice is plan, plan, plan until you think you have thought of everything. THEN completely stop thinking and just start doing. Doing is the fastest way to learn.
Absolutely the most valuable information to date. I am in the exact same story in the making but with a state park at my door step. My RV idea had got shut down but Glamping is a great idea. ADA county!
Thanks so much for your videos on building a glamping business. I ran into your video at the perfect time. Selling my house in Seattle, retiring from my massage business, buying some land in Oregon, setting up some yurts, domes and tents and campground. I've watched three of your videos in a row now and the one with the planner was most informative. Thank you for your channel!
Glad it was helpful! I would say if you are considering it, give it a try and see how things go. If you could potentially try it out for a cheap and see if you enjoy it and its worth your time, then thats the way to go.
"You heat the FEDS" 😂😂😂 I discovered your channel a few months ago bc I was searching information on buying land. This has helped me tremendously, thnx!😊
Enjoyed all the information! Your glamping business looks awesome! I have big plans to do something similar at our home. 1st video I’ve seen about getting the special permit. Good to know. And I can relate to that neighbor of yours! I have one of those too! He would be the one calling the “yellow jackets” on us.
What size is his property? How far are the "tents" from his neighbors? I love camping. I have a teardrop and camp all summer and fall. But I'm gonna tell you... I would not want campers near my residence. Unless he owns many acres and campsites are not invading people's privacy...
Weather, culture, customs, natural environment are all reasons we headed to Mexico but beyond all of them was freedom from all the red tape and people in your business, and as you said "being told what to do" are all reasons we never would have tried doing this in the states. I tried to put up a carport once and had to tear it down because a neighbor complained, and that convinced me not only to move to the country, but to move to the country in another country!
Thank you so much for the comment because it lets me know i am on the right track. That is my number one goal. To be a source of real info, not just youtube click bait.
Thank you so much. I'm excited for our next episode together. You obviously have a wealth of knowledge we all can learn from. Thank you again for coming on my show!
I love the content!! It is so very inspirational. I live in Canon City, Colorado not too far from Monument. I will definitely have to visit Chris. I am seriously looking into a dome tent on my property. We have gusts of wind here in Colorado and a dome might just be the perfect solution. Keep going strong!!! Thanks for your hard work to bring us the incredible information and encouragement!
I'm glad you found the video inspirational! I am happy to help motivate and educate the community on these topics. Thanks for leaving a comment and supporting my channel.
This is so interesting! I am looking to get into glamping. We have a guesthouse that we are AirBNBing and want to add a glamp site or two. I can totally relate to your guest… I Live in the mountains in an unincorporated part of a fairly red California county, but I could totally see some crazy person deciding they don’t like it. We would love to expand onto and purchase an adjacent lot that has housed an illegal marijuana grow. The growers accidentally started a fire last summer and burned 20 acres.
It sounds like you would be great at starting/owning a glamping business with your airbnb experience. I guess if an illegal marijuana farm can fly under the radar it doesn't seem like people in your area poke around and intrude on what the neighbors are up to. Thank you for leaving a comment and supporting my channel. I hope you're enjoying the content and I don't disappoint with future episodes.
Your videos are amazing! They are so informative. I’m in the research phase of our glamping project. We just purchased property .24 of a mile from Big Bend. We need to just bite the bullet and do it.
Jamie, truly incredible discussion. Helps that you & Chris jived. Chris was so informative and his enthusiasm, confidence was infectious. You hit the mark on a cold winter's day with this interview. Content and questions will benefit us all. Thank you!
Thank you for the kind words and feedback. Chris was an amazing guest to have on the channel. Big shout out to him for being candid with us and giving us his advice. I agree that Chris and I definitely jived well. Hopefully I can get him back on the channel for more!
Hey, see if you can get that zoning guy from Denver on! I’m curious what he would say to do proactively and also in response, what he sees most often as the missed issue or greatest challenge, etc.
I've been an Airbnb super host and would love to do it again by buying a homestead property and renting out a few tents and funky cabins built by people who want to return to nature. I believe the economic approach to town/county officials is best. Wouldn't it be more economical if people could offer Glamping on their property where they earn a living than having to be on social programs, which cost the state millions of dollars annually? Tourists bring revenue to the surrounding areas by going to restaurants, shopping, etc. Talking to the town boards and finding out what can and can't be done before buying any property is essential and will save a lot of headaches and heartaches.
VERY INFORMATIVE! THANK YOU SO MUCH FOR THE OWNERS WHO IMPART THE REALITY OF THIS GLAMPING BUSINESS! ESPECIALLY THE OWNER IN COLORADO HE'S REALLY GENEROUS TO SHARE EXPERIENCES AND KNOWLEDGE CONCERNING GLAMPING BUSINESS. GOD BLESS YOUR BUSINESS ❤
