I have to admire that man’s vision & skill set. The concept of “location, location location”. Cost for the project of $2.1 million. That is cost of a smaller condo in parts of New York City.
Lol. The funny part is this isn't a great location....
@@Th3120ck true but he made the location a much better place. If the booking statistics are correct he seems to have created a successful business
This guy had access to a line of credit and he brought in family to help pay for the project. If you can’t make money building cheap cabins on cheap land with someone else’s money, renting them out for $240-500k/ night, you shouldn’t bother.
@@Matt-wr7kp 😱🙄😂
@@Matt-wr7kp easy fix he could have just built one at a time. Wait for it to cash flow and build from that. I did it that way cause my family is broke haha
Accountant, general contractor, artist...brilliant guy who is making good earned money. Whole video is class, well done Shelby.
Love how he is so transparent about the financial part, very clever way to leverage the money. Best one in the series so far~
@gay lorde well ppl who can pull off 1mil+ must have done their calculation and have other sources of income. This is how rich ppl get richer.
@gay lorde I still can't wrap my head around thier figures. ..500 k a year divided by 356 days equals approx $7,000 a week to stay next to a dirty pond ..
I actually doubt anyone pays that, and it's.lies made up to get stupid people to say yes ..
@@Mrimperfections777 This is a cheap option for some people. My friends and I use to spend $5K for 3 days in a small cabin with no pond at Big Bear, if we wanted a pond it was gonna cost extra $3K, there was literally nothing around the area, you basically needed to buy everything ahead of time or you're screwed, so we bought 20 Whiskey Bottles, 300 beers and $1200.00 worth of groceries. We only did this to get away from LA for countdown and we didn't like camping in the woods. We also rented 2 big ass trucks, to bring our snowboards and food.
@@AllenHanPR well I'll be..
I'm not familiar with renting places or staying..
I'm just astounded..
If it's true..way to go and good on them..
Thanks for explaining more....
I was planning 9n building a similar place one day to live in.....not if 500 k per year is possible ..even half that per annum and I'll be buying a caravan to live in and renting out..
@@Mrimperfections777 it's from all 7 doors not just the one house
I appreciate how transparent the owner was. Knowing how he financed this is really helpful for people to understand how to attempt a project like this, and the type of resources/investors you need.
very much agree with that.. I'd be left to wonder.. "well.. how did he GET that land?!"
He is estimating he’ll net $550,000 this year, before debt service. So he’s probably netting after all expenses around $310,000. But then he has to share the profits with his father & brother. Amazing income nevertheless.
Jesus Christ died on the CROSS FOR YOUR SINS REPENT OF YOUR SINS AND PRAY TO GOD FOR FORGIVENESS GOD AND JESUS CHRIST LOVE YOU NEVER FORGET THIS❤❤❤
only if they were honest about the income they make
this is either a scam for laundering money or a scam to get investors
Oh, man. I can totally understand how and why he's so excited and fulfilled by this whole thing. Getting all of those things in place and working right with tons of efficiencies and profits is amazing!
Right, it’s so cool!!

hahahahahha generous for what?

I appreciate that because A BnB screwed him out of 4 days revenue he responded by screwing them out of 75% of all future bookings.
The editing on this makes it feel like a Netflix documentary! Absolutely love it and can't wait for more like this!
Wow, he was made for that project - an excellent planner and they really thought of everything beforehand it seems. I’m happy that it’s going so well for them!
I hope that this series eventually will cover all 50 states….I really love to see what all states have to offer 😀
This is the nicest place I have ever seen built by... an accountant! 🙂 Good thing he and his wife balance this with good design, to avoid cheap finishes and keep quality high.
I got the impression he hated his accounting job and the 9-5 corporate grind and finally did something that he loved to do and while he and his wife are a making a nice living, its not so much the money as its making people happy. Its rare when you get to do something you’re good at and people like what you do. You need to take a measured risk to get somewhere snd that’s what happened here.
He's not an accountant, he's a builder, his family owns a construction business, he's just a builder that happens to have an accounting degree.
Your channel is the epitome of quality over quantity, great job Shelby!
Investment in stocks is a great way to invest your money. The team is constantly checking the market for changes and make sure that you are always informed about the best time to invest. As a result, I have made more money than ever before, and I don't have to manage my portfolio on my own! Invest in stocks, it's worth it!
That's great! may I ask who's your portfolio manager?
Wow! I just looked up this person out of curiosity and I'm super impressed with her qualifications. Thanks for sharing.
Where I live in NZ this is a very common house style but would not call it a A-frame! Those places would be called a Barn style while a A-frame has a straight line roof to walls.
I was gonna say pretty much the same. Although these cottages are very cute and suit the property butt they're not A frames. I'm from the US and owned an A frame house, idk why they used the term A-frame like 3 dozen times? Oh well, nice video and cool property.
Moral of the story: have a lot of money if you want to make a lot more money.
no not really. you are looking at it wrong
All my relatives with AirBnB rentals had their properties paid for by their parents. They also tend to be unemployed with rich parents… Generally people who have a real career tend to invest in stock and bond equities because they don’t have the time or energy to manage a rental with a full time job. It’s a generalization but it’s what I’m noticing as a general pattern.
I have a lot money but not one Dollar 😳 Look Dad Church has 43.000 Dollar per year is that a lot money? Thats not important because he can pay all bills and his childrens have a good childhood success is never an overnight thing watching the first year of Monica and Shelby's content its a huge footstap from 2012.I like the Palm Springs content too.
@@you2bevsgoogle that’s about average annual income for a single person in the US. But it could be a lot of money in another country if the cost of living is a lot cheaper.
@@ItsMadRiv Can you elaborate?
This is one of the best Airbnb videos I've seen. But these are not A-frames. They are Scandinavian design as the owner stated. A-frames do not have 90-degree angled walls. Great content. Keep up the good work.
Yeah, I think those are called barnhouses, not A-frames. At least in my country.
Nice point
My brother owns something similar to this about half way between Canton and Athens(about 60 miles to the NE of this). Obviously not nearly as updated as these. They feel more like old country cabins. 4 cabins on 22 acres. Very rustic. 6 ponds. Boats to use. Range between $140-$180 per night still I believe. Super host status on AirBnB for like 2 years straight now(since he was able to first get it). He brings in 13k-15k per month. He paid $500k for the place almost 3 years ago. This was his dream growing up. Having some kind of camping venue or cabin venue. He got lucky about 5 years ago and spent a year in the oil fields which allowed this dream to come true. This is his only job now, and he LOVES it! Bluegill Lake Cabins.
Georgia?
He is such a nice person. Many people wouldn't tell you the cost of the projects in detail like he did. He also told you the struggles. Really nice person. They should design projects like this for other people. They did such a beautiful job
Agree w all you mentioned 👏👏👏
He's not greedy and wants to inspire others to do what he did.

holy shhhhh! this was such a great video! loved the intro, the editing, the new title to the series! you did such a great job Shelby!
So impressed with the owner … vision to execution. Well done … no small task.
This is by far the best "cabin" video we have watched. As we get ready for our spring opening in the Blue Ridge Mountains, so much of what you have shared can be put to use. I love the confidence of a host that can share their information. It is a trend that I see quite often in this industry!

Reminds me of Alvar Aalto school of design in Finland… simple, fresh and clean influenced by both modern feeling and practicality. Those A frames by the pond nestled in the woods have a relaxing vibe to them. They’re exactly where you want to go for a weekend getaway.
These are not A frames. The owner got it right. They are Scandinavian design.
@@gandr.e.5136 every time they were called aframes I kept saying but they aren't aframes to myself. Why is she calling them aframes?
We stayed at Shadow Bend a week and a half after you stayed Shelby. We met Isaac and he said you wrote in the guestbook but we forgot to look for it!
shelby!! i love this video!! i have always wanted a tiny home (for affordability) and this A-Frame style has my heart! 😍 im a zillennial and live in seattle and you’ve given me a new 5-year plan to consider! i would love to live in a mother-in-law style a-frame and having your interviewee break down the numbers really helps 😊
So good Shelby. And what an awesome property! I’m in awe of the people who can truly do it all haha
Issac accountant, artist, entrepreneur, contractor, designer. Damn it leave some skills for pple like me. 😂 pretty cool video. As always very inspiring.
Love that last rising drone shot with the closing music. Euphoric. Also really like how Shelby organically incoporates a sponsorship into the video, since you obviously need to drive to get around Texas.
Yep! Got to agree 💯 on that point! Feels so natural and organic. (and super useful too!)
I wish there were more questions/answers about the support(in knowledge/wisdom) he received from his family being in the business of construction and all. Such an interesting guy and well thought out project!
This is my new favourite Video! This aligns so much with my dreams and goals! Thanks Shelby and French family for sharing so much info.
Good job on this video. Some of your best work. Your new more polished look is making you shine!
This was just perfect. An accountant knows cost/benefit analysis, general contractor wholesale purchasing, etc. I like the lower cost direct booking. And adding oxygen to the pond, clears up the water. $5M in 10 years in an excellent ROI.
Ok, this Avail program sounds awesome. Thank you for sharing!
Loving this series, Shelby! The intro is especially spectacular and engaging! ❤️
Thank you Shelby for bringing this property to light. And thank you to the French family for your ingenuity. I am definitely going to plagiarize the vibe/ design of this estate. It's been a couple of years out of college, finally getting rid of that college debt and I have built a savings/ credit score good enough to qualify for an FHA loan or a development loan. My father also owns a property before I was born in Denver which can be developed into something like the Live Oak Lake. It's about a 20-acre property with 3 lakes/ ponds. It's very beautiful, just nature untouched with many animals and plants, there's even a cliff that has a waterfall. He's been too afraid to do anything with the land, hopefully, this video will encourage him or get his gears grinding. It's also 50 mi away from the city Denver so it's in between Aspen and Denver.
Wow! Fantastic!
Great spot for a family reunion or a wedding…..just need a gazebo on the floating dock, a sunset and voila! Also, even if you don’t have enough $$ to do this as a complete project, you could scale this one or two units at a time while earning money.
He should also offer Airbnb consulting for people that want to do this. Good stuff.
This is such a great idea for your channel! I cannot wait to see the other Air B & B's you check out!
Love the video.I saw your vlog and was excited for the video to come out. Also I must say your last videos have increased so much in quality 🔥
This is such a well done video. And the seamless integration of the sponsor-wow!
Excellent video. SO much great information and the level of detail was amazing (costs, financing, construction, etc.) will be tuning in for future videos for sure. Also, I thought it was inspirational as not too many folks approach short-term rentals from a construction perspective, so for me it was very cool.
Fantastic video and looking forward to other properties in this new series!

Great video Shelby! Stunning video quality and overall just so informative and interesting content. I’m excited to see more videos in this series.
One thing I’d like to comment on and it could just be something I picked up on and doesn’t really bother others, are the interview scenes. I think you sitting next to your interviewee and them talking off into the distance rather than facing you is a bit confusing for the viewer. Since we don’t see you talking with the interviewee, it seems almost as if you are being interviewed too. I think having you either face the interviewee or not be in view at all but just asking questions from the off could improve these shots and also help make the interviewee feel more comfortable so they know what to focus their eyes on. I’ve noticed this in other videos too so I wanted to point it out. Just my two cents though. As I said, I’m loving your content and I watch every single video of yours regardless of what it is about. ❤️
Thank you for sharing numbers and the process of this project. It was very inspiring and beautiful, what a beautiful property!

Am not good doing it alone but getting into the market has been my best decision so far in my road to financial independence as it turns out to be lucrative for me and Personally I have multiple streams so I just enable the use of an investment advisor to navigate and secure the returns
