I just wanted to share with you something I heard last week that might help you understanding why do you feel so “sad” or “down” after having completed the marathon - it seems that our body accumulates such a high level of cortisol during a stressing/exciting/challenging period of our life that when we finally achieve that goal we were working on for so long the consequences are that we feel soooo down… This is sometimes frustrating bc you don’t really understand why are you feeling the worst if you made it to hit your goal after such a long time and effort! But yea… it happens for a while, then you will be feeling much better. Your new focus of no tracking at all will definitely be helpful for you✨ Love your content and hope this helps!❤

I love this, and thank you for talking about the eating intuitively! I tried to start tracking calories and I struggled mentally with it and so I decided to eat intuitively with the focus on high protein and balance!! It has made such a difference mentally for me
I was tracking every single things/day for 6 months, then I started intuitively eating about 2 months ago (eating high protein still for muscle growth) but my body hasn't looked better and I'm in such a better mental space; I used to be so food focused and now I can think about other stuff and plus not stressing my body because I need to wait to eat until I get home so I can weigh out/track my food.. Don't get me wrong tracking taught me a lot about nutrition and portion sizes which has helped me maintain during this intuitive eating journey. Plus I enjoy cooking a lot more because im not sacrificing certain ingredients because it doesn't "fit" into my macros.
Honestly I’ve heard lots of people saying the same so I’m glad you’ve had amazing results from it ❤ yeah exactly, I’m a bit tired of ‘sacrificing’ foods 😅
Hey Holly, as a running coach it’s very natural to have all of the feelings you’re having post marathon! I did my first marathon back in 2014 and stopped running for a couple of months after. Having the break after where it’s more relaxed and fun is the best thing to do! It makes it more sustainable and then when you’re ready for your next challenge you’re feeling rested and ready to start a training block again. Whilst tracking calories isn’t for everyone, and certainly isn’t necessary, it shouldn’t be discouraged either. Some people may prefer knowing their energy in / out - doesn’t make it unhealthy!

You’re so kind thank you!!! Honestly my biggest tip is run your pace and run for you!! Don’t get caught up in your times because it kills the joy, just enjoy it and take in the accomplishment when you’ve finished the race!!! Also yes always ❤❤❤❤
