Surprised they didn't have any Mitsubishi in this race. Subarus, Mazda, Isuzu. Hope you get to one of those z'd one day. The new one looks great so far. Do you remember the 84 turbo anniversary edition.. woosh!! I do. That was a dream to behold.

Keiichi Tsuchiya was really pushing the Supra beyond its limits! Slightly drifting through the corners to maintain as much momentum as possible.
The mk2 is far more legendary in my heart

All front engine cars are prone to drifting. And very bad for cornering.
I love how easily the 300zx handled corners, it wasn’t the fastest, but it handled its speed the best out of all the cars participating. Makes me miss my old 300zx real bad.
I was also really impressed with how it cornered, but the judge said corners were its weakness! If it wasn't for Supras straight line power to recover from the hard cornering the Z might have had it both races.
@@benvdz24 I thought the judges saying that was funny! I guess to corner well in Japan cars need to be sideways lol

@@starmanovich makes no sense, the Mk3 should be heavier with less power and less torque. Turbo A was a pretty rare highest spec model only in available Japan, maybe they fudged the numbers. A regular Mk3 would be left in the dust for sure

The 300az was slept on for too long. I'm building a 300zx Champ Car
Underrated car with a highly underrated engine. The VGs can hang with almost any RB from the block's end. I say almost, since RB blocks vary a ton. A good one will take 800 without bracing, a bad one twists at 500. A stock VG bottom end is good for at least 650 till you break some pistons.
Not to mention, you can blow up 10 VGs and you would still have some cash left over compared to an RB build.
I always liked the Mitsubishi 3000 gt as a kid in the 90's
But now at 40yrs of age, the Celica mk1 is stunning, a really beautiful car, and my Datsun 620 is a beautiful truck too, she turns many head's in North Wales

The Z31 was by no means slow for it's time (especially the Turbo model). In fact, the Shiro Special edition of the car was the fastest Japanese car in the world for a brief period in 1988. I know you didn't ask for this info, but I thought it would be a good time to bring it up!
大井さんが乗ってるType-Mは運転したことないけど日産社内で座ったことがあります。まだお手ごろな値段の時期ですね。
その後仕事でR34GT-R、GT-Tの生産の仕事に携わったけどこの時期が手に入りやすい時期だったんじゃないかなと思われます。
FCもこの後に出るアンフィニIVになるとZ32や80スープラと互角かそれ以上の戦いができるようになるんだけどね。
とはいえ32GT-Rはその3台を周回遅れにしてしまうほどあり得ない速さだった。

Was this just before the GT-R dropped, or were they restricting the race to RWD? Wasn't the GTS-t naturally aspirated to boot? It seemed pokey coming out of corners...
The GTST is a 2l i6 turbo. My only gripe with this race is they didn’t use a coupe model. The GTST also had an awd model named the gts4

My dad used to have a red 300ZX that I thought It was a Ferrari, I was about 4-5 years old I didn't remember much. When I bacame carguy man I really sad my dad sold it.

370Z is no way much quick. They both are around 5 seconds. 370Z Spins the tires and rarely hooks.
300zx is very close to 350 and 370 in performance. 350 is only 5hp more. 370z has 30 extra hp, but it spins the tires and it never hooks. 300zx is very very close in performance to these two and it's a shame that after 30 years they haven't made a proper Z. Im hoping the new one will change that.
Nissan made shit quality cars in general during mid 2000s and till now except for GTR. 370Z has CSC fails right away, among other notable issues. I had to replace mine.

But generally I'll take a manual 350Z HR over any model Z32.

Its a 107mph car vs a 103mph. Any way you spin that, its quicker, period. Not sure what nonsense this is about a 370Z spinning tires, all Z's spin wheels, because they all have enough power to do so off the line.
The way they measure engine power isn't the same as when the Z32 came out, its more strict, you would have to be really ignorant to attempt to compare horsepower numbers when the standards changed.
Sports cars are also about more than straight line speed. Both the Z33 and Z34 chassis make the Z32 look utterly sloppy, tech moves on and they are just a fundamentally superior chassis to base a sports car on.

Thats the JDM Turbo A, not quite the same as the exported stuff like the Supra Turbo that went to the USA.
Skyline, WRX, and Evo ripped off the success of this car. They needed it gone, just because they wanted to say that Supra is moon and Skyline is sun. Omg

So Mitsubishi wasn't allowed in the race cause 89 starion and it was right next as performance to the 300z but was 2.6 4 cylinder and it was a 6 cylinder class even tho the rotary is like the 4 cause it was a single...the vr4 was awd so that wasnt fair..so Mitsubishi was kicked out from bettet technology at the time....and the supra should have won but bad driving took the fail....1jz was better than the vg and rb20....skyline got last but how did nissan have 2 cars in this class..ill tell you.. Mitsubishi got kicked out cause it was unfair....should have usef the starion esir......
Starions engine was not good it’s a forklift engine with an iron block and single cam
@@leesparks4813 they used the same block in forklifts like a lot of many other motors. The jet valve head was a bad design however their are a lot of people running 7s . plus their are multi port dohc just for that motor even hks made a head. Far as the block...it has forged internals and i personally know lot of people are running 500hp as a daily..with a stock block. I put 300k on one of my quest without removing the head from factory... But i kept it stock. Like anything else if you add significant more power your going to need to get rid of the jet valves...

@@leesparks4813 vg was newer and was the first to have vvt but at that time Mitsubishi had mivec and ecs. The quest was out dated in 88 and got rid of rwd platform and went to awd in 90 ... But i love all my Nissan's. Rather have the new 400z than the bmw supra. Check out the Pajero evolution...
