    I built the 1/32 version of this plane and I loved it. It was incredibly easy and some things just made sense.
    Good job

    Good SATURDAY Morning from OHIO…
    Always look forward to seeing your videos / post…
    I said it before, those RUSSIAN aircraft were so simple in design, NO FRILLS…
    They were RUGGED…
    I do like the colors and markings…
    Another great review and build…. CHRIS 🇺🇸
    p.s.
    rewatched your last video, had a sound problem…
    everything is good 😊

      Good to know about the last video, thanks. The VVS (Soviet Air Force) subjects are so interesting to me because they weren't available when I was younger. Many of the VVS aircraft are still criminally underrepresented in kit form. This allows a modeler to get creative and improve what is available. Cheers!

      @@jonsmodelkitreview4624 I actually got it as part of the "Moscow Air Defence" set they have. It includes the MiG-3, Spitfire Mk IX and Yak-7 and some figures. Decals are uninspiring, but still quite a deal as I picked it up for ~$20.

    I built this kit some 3 or 4 years ago. Was a nice build, simple and easy. The only area that gave me some work was its air scps at the wings roots. Other than that, the kit went on very good. Nice decals too. No problem with those at all. Keep on going!.

    Good evening from South Australia.
    Very attractive build.
    Russian aircraft (and AFVs, trucks etc....almost every thing) tend to be green with a bit more green and a bit of 4BO (green) and you have to rely on patriotic slogans, markings etc to break up the colour, (there's some white sometimes).
    Those lighter panels on the metal sections of the airframe are very nice, and certainly make the whole scheme more visually interesting.
    And it makes sense that the same paint would look a different shade when used over a different surface with a different original colour. And the plywood was probably undercoated/sealed before painting making it darker and smoother as opposed to paint over bare metal.
    I love the look of aircraft such as this with the cockpit set to the rear. They just look sleek and fast. Shark-like.
    No fun at all for the pilot when taxiing with zero forward visibility.
    Great work.
    Cheers 🦘🦘🦘

      Thanks Matt! I've spent hours researching VVS colors and can get lost in that type of thing (in a good way). I also like the look of the MiG-3, but I've read they were a difficult aircraft to master. More cool VVS subjects coming up on the channel so stay tuned! Cheers

    Great review Jon! Haven’t built a trumpeter aircraft yet only armor. My chief complaint with trumpeter is they tend to be on the expensive side compared to other brands. What is your thought on price point vs quality on Trumpeter. I’ve heard mix things about their aircraft. Thanks!

    • @jonsmodelkitreview4624
      @jonsmodelkitreview4624  Рік тому

      I have built several Trumpeter aircraft with good results. The quality differs on some of their aircraft kits, so read/watch reviews on the kit you're thinking of purchasing. On the kits I've built (Supermarine Spiteful and they MiG-3), I thought the price was reasonable for the quality of the kit. They built as easily as a mid-1990's Tamiya, had about the same accuracy and price, and better decals. Cheers!

    Your color scheme finishes are always amazing, they really enhance the kits and bring out details. I love the winter camo, nice blending with snow then they add bright red stripes :-) Russian aircraft designs always amaze me, especially this one because the center of gravity looks way off making it difficult to fly. Being a high altitude fighter I suspect they designed it this way so they could add a more powerful engine. At ground level shed be hard to handle and take off like the Corsair would be a lot of guess work. Thanks for sharing, it would be great to see some of your models together just to see those great finishes, Cheers

      Thanks! Good observations. The MiG-3 used a version of the same large V-12 that was in the Il-2 Sturmavik. In the MiG, it was optimized for high altitude. It was a difficult aircraft to master but used to good effect by several Soviet aces. The I-16 that the MiG-3 evolved from looked like a GeeBee racer with a huge radial up front and a short, stubby fuselage. Cheers!

    I really enjoy these reviews and the insight you provide and think your channel is criminally underrated. I usually build armor, but built my first Trumpeter airplane kit last month (IAR 80) and was pleasantly surprised by the quality. I don't know why it drives me crazy so much, but I can never decide what color to paint the wheel wells on planes when no color is indicated - same color as exterior underside or interior cockpit? Keeps me up at night sometimes 🤣🤣

    • @jonsmodelkitreview4624
      @jonsmodelkitreview4624  Рік тому +2

      Thank you! Getting the details right is why I spend hours looking for and at photos or better yet, color photos of the actual vehicle I'm modeling. I don't trust even the best model manufacturers to tell me the correct colors for interiors, wheel wells, even exterior colors. in my experience, Airfix, Accurate Miniatures, and Eduard have some of the best color callouts in their instructions. Tamiya, Trumpeter, Hobby Boss, not so much.

    Hola Jon, que buen video, felicitaciones, por mi parte he armado un Mig 3 de Ark Models, es un refrito de ICM, para que decir de la cantidad de rebaba que hay que sacar jajajaja, sin embargo debo decir que lo disfruté mucho, fué uno de mis primeros modelos en mi vuelta al modelismo, realicé el esquema de invierno, aún con mis antiguas técnicas de armado, nada de productos para ello, todo con lo de mi experiencia ganada en mi juventud
    Es un modelo muy bello, siempre me ha gustado, en particular ésta marca viene mejor detallada que la de Ark Models jajajaja pero tal como lo has puesto en tu vídeo es un avión que debe estar en cualquier colección, sabía que la versión de Trumpeter tenía detalles que estaban fuera de escala, los cohetes , el cobertor de radiador y otras cosas pequeñas, pero al ver tu resultado creo que vale tenerlo armado, saludos

    Hello how many hours does IT take yOu to make this model excluding drying time?

    • @jonsmodelkitreview4624
      @jonsmodelkitreview4624  2 місяці тому

      @Michu32421 if you're just building the plastic parts, it can be completed in a matter of a few hours. Depending on how much detail you want to put into painting and weathering and corrections, it can take much longer. I never time my builds, so I don't know how long it took me to complete it. Cheers!
