Mind blowing to think Romania and others still operate these - saw it display at RIAT in 2019. Was stood there thinking ‘the EE lightning was it’s contemporary…’
Gary, I noticed that, at one point, you said "sprues" and corrected yourself to say "frames"; you were actually correct with "sprues". That's the correct term in not only the model industry, but plastics as a whole. I majored in plastic technology in college and worked in the industry for several years, post-Army. Hope I don't come off as preachy or know-it-all-ish. I really enjoy your channel. Keep up the good work.
Great looking kit Mr Stuff i know you'll work your magic n I'm going to enjoy watching you add all those stencils. I really wish all manufacturers would add canopy masks to kits especially for 1/48 n bigger for all it would cost them to produce. Rant over. Happy modelling Gary
I feel old now, I have that OEZ kit. 🤣 It can’t compare with any of the current MiG-21 kits so I’m not sure if I will ever build it. Maybe lay the sprues and box art out in a frame for wall decor? Anyway, I’ll be following your Eduard build with great interest. Thumbs up! 😊
It looks great. Should be a good one Gary. In my previous life I used to, sometimes, fly to Vienna and then drive to Brno in Czech. On the way out of Vienna was a scrap yard that had a Mig 21 mounted above the gate!
So this is what a kit looks like when the maker takes it seriously -- top drawer! Q: How do you finish natural metal with all those little stencils on it? Go for it, Gary!
Looks like it will build up great. I have the Eduard MiG21-bis as my next build, which will be done in Hungarian Air Force scheme. Good luck with the build Gary.
Another great video Gary. As kid in the 80s I was always fascinated by the Soviet aircraft, especially the MiG-21. Looking forward to the build video for this Gary
That kit is going to look great and so well made good luck with all the decals but as they say, the devil's in detail so thanks for another what's in the box and roll on Monday Matters 👍
With the P51 I think Eduard came out with the industry leader kit. This looks pretty well the same, although the competition is all rather old hat now. You have to spend some time with the instructions sorting the variant you wish to build and your discussion on the instructions was really good on this.
As usual, a great job on the history of both the aircraft and kit Gary. I'm always interested to see inside of non-Airfix kits too. Eduard: Limited Edition. Also Eduard: "30 odd re-boxings of this kit"😅.
As I've said before, this kit has only 2 major flaws (correction sets are present though): nose air intake (including radar/chock cone) and nozzle are smaller in diameter than they should be. In all the other aspects this kit is just perfect. It is the best MiG-21 in 1/48 if not take the earliest MiG-21F/F-13 which are absent in the Eduard line.
'... classically Soviet...' inasmuch as it was plain and simple but did what it was supposed to, as opposed to looking pretty but being unnecessarily complicated so had more to go wrong. Sounds like classic Russian design, e.g. AK47 and T34.
Given the amount of decals alone, you ll be pressed for time to have it finished in a week!
I love the Mig 21. Iconic.

I think they are scheduled for retirement next year once the ex-Norwegian F-16s enter service.

Amazing looking kit, and yes intimidating indeed. I'm sure you'll do just fine. I'm jealous, that's a Great Looking Pin!

I believe the black photo etched instrument panel is sandwiched behind the blue green panel. The green has the frames and the black has the faces.

Really looking forward to seeing this kit....
That's going to keep you busy Gary.

There's a storage company near us that has had a Spitfire and a Hunter on their roof in the past!

I have no idea Randy - guess I'll find out!!!

Trumpeter also has the FBC-2000. The 2 seat training version of the F-7GB
Another great video Gary.

A beautiful kit Gary, a definite increase in the challenge level, it will be nice to see how the bare metal variations turn out. Thanks for the video.
Thanks 👍
As usual with Eduard, excellent kit details, best of luck with all those decals, very time consuming if you're doing all of them!
Gary is this part of the AJ stash you brought before it shut i miss that place😢
Yes it is - one of the bigger kits I got that day! BTW, I'm sending you a link to the Supporters' Special via FB...
I wish I stood a chance with a piece such as this!!

Between you and me, Bob, I wish I did too! Bit daunting but there we go...
Love the history Gary! Thanks for sharing! 😎🇨🇦
Glad you enjoyed it Peter!
Oh, fun. As someone who studies Vietnam War, I want to do up one NVA.
HEello Gary! Nice to see you enjoying Eduard's MiG-21, hope to join you soon (wanna buy MiG-21R next week)
Western Jets, in particular, the F-4 Phantom have a lot of stencil data as well.
Yes I have an F-4 to do and the number of stencils is quite mad...
Great video son 👍
I'm looking forward to seeing this one built up.
You and me both!
Looking forward to the build Gary, looks pretty intense build, yet another interesting whats in the box video, thank you Gary.👍👍
A great kit of a handsome aircraft , We used to call it , The Russian Lightning , despite the fact it only had one engine .
If this goes together as well as the 1/72 Profipack version you will have a great build, enjoy....

Eduard: Limited Edition.
Also Eduard: "30 odd re-boxings of this kit"😅.
Gary, seeing you're not sure of which scheme to do, maybe do another poll on which scheme for the MIG 21.
I'm pretty much sold on a bare metal one... but I'll see what else I fancy adding to it!

Not my aircraft (being an F104 fan boy ) but that was a first class unboxing Gary , have a good weekend marra . Regards Gav.

I believe Eduard are releasing a new tool MiG-21F/F-13 this year...
Very nice , Gary, but where is the build? I can't find it, did you build it?
Still being built - one of the long-term background projects...
Let me guess:
Inside is a kit to build a plastic mig-21 in 1:48 ratio.🎉
Hmmm, a kind of model makers' matryoshka doll...?
'... classically Soviet...' inasmuch as it was plain and simple but did what it was supposed to, as opposed to looking pretty but being unnecessarily complicated so had more to go wrong. Sounds like classic Russian design, e.g. AK47 and T34.
Is this a "weekend edition" or a "profi pack"?
Oh, it’s the profi pack!
@@garys_stuff sounds good ,Gary.thanks for the video...its ALWAYS a great day when we get a new video from "Garys Stuff".👍👍👍
Alright. I’ve decided I need one of these kits. Thanks for the great review.
