down south of the border. Always find it exciting. Last time we went down to the Cotswolds from the West Coast of Scotland. Long but epic drive. The difference in landscapes and topography across the UK is amazing for such a small country.

Those services are depressing, Scotland has some great truck stops for food, on the A9 but they're mostly independents. Disgusting the services that are provided for truckers, companies forced to pay exorbitant fees to park and not even decent grub. Skiach services (North of Inverness just off the A9) is free to park (was last time I was there) Has a decent cafe (good food,usually freshly cooked to order and reasonably priced) and a bar with a pool table, with entertainment at the weekend (usually c/w singers).
That sounds a pretty good one to stop at, if I’m ever that far north I’ll keep an eye out thanks bud

Stopped at Annandale Water Services before, pretty decent and the Truck park has been extended and tidied up so good number of slots available. Usual selection of grub outlets as well.

Hi mate, I do multi drop in a truck and I'm in Fife Monday-Friday so know the roads well. You're right about the views, on a clear day, between Aberdour and Burntisland are fantastic. If you're ever back up in that neck of the woods I'd recommend driving back the way you came rather than the A92 as the view is even better coming back the way. Cracking views across the Forth and the bridges.

Hi Darren glad you had a good run up to Bonny Fife Scotland 🏴 . That Robert Summer’s Truck 🛻 that overtook you they’re based in Buckhaven around 20 minutes from Falkland where I stay & where some of Outlander was filmed years ago mate. 👍
Scotland has to be one of the best routes as there is never much traffic and the scenery is always great

I always stop at junction 4a just before Harthill. Very little parking but you can park on the main road or down the road behind the services. Has McDonald's , KFC and a Greggs inside the petrol station.
Broxden services in Perth is another go to for me.
Hi from Fife, I`ve just watch you drive all through my hometown of Kirkcaldy, approx., 50,000 inhabitants.. You were really unlucky with the diversion you had to take, although its a nice drive on a good day. Respect to you guys for the work you do!

Just watched this as my first video and loved it. Cannot believe you stopped at Bothwell services!! lol. I was born and bred in Bothwell and the little village a mile up the road is lovely with great restaurants even its own castle. Totally let down by the services. Local residents only use it as a short cut to get to the village of Bothwell without having to go through the Raith Interchange from the M74. Only thing it’s good for. Keep up the good work and safe driving. 👍

Great video, right on my doorstep, so wqe strange seeing all the local roads on UA-cam. if it was just the other day, A92 was shut as lorry came off the road, and Air ambulance was needed and Unfortunately, the driver did not make it 😢

Yea, the road was shut, and then the air ambulance flew over the house. Unfortunately, there are lots of crashes on what quite a simple road. Heart hill no the best services but been a savour when needed a piss coming back from glasgow alot 😅
Just saw this video pop up, don't know why but really interesting, subscribed. The A921 coast road was the main A92 until the dual carriageway was opened about 30 years ago.

yes the Harthill service station is very basic , more or less a petrol station , the wife is from there lol best services are down south , ,Hamilton is slightly better has a couple of shops etc best ive found is Abington services 25miles before Hamilton , good luck mate every thing inc our food is carried by road so much respect and happy trucking
This is the first one of your video I've watched. Coincidentally, I live near the Queensferry Crossing, so it was interesting for me. I did chuckle when you said 'Aberdoor' when you went through Aberdour - the locals say 'Aberdower'. You'll know for next time :)

I love your pronunciations of our Scottish towns and village names 😂 I drive for a big supermarket in Scotland and love it when I get a store way up north, I love driving on A roads and B roads, proper trucking lol

Kirkcaldy - KERRR-COD-DEE .
I was based down on the English coast so i mangled the pronounciation of a few English places until I was corrected by my English mates lol.
The A9 going up to Inverness is a nightmare with foreign tourists just now not having a scoobie how to safely use it.

Hey if you end up in Inverness park up at the V8 cafe in the Longman Industrial Estate, opppsite MacGregors Industrial Supplies and down from Toolstation. During daylight hours Its good food at the V8 and has a hairdressors. Around the corner from ESSO 24 hrs on the dual going into Inverness.

Not sure your height, but if you went left with the truck that was behind you just before Aberdour (aber-dower) :) you would have popped out at the right turn roundabout in Kirkaldy. Save you doing the coast road...

Absolute shite hole. Over priced hole. Only folk who pay to park are non locals. Never find folk up that neck paying

Bothwell used to have a café, that closed in anticipation of opening a McDonald's.
Be better off (as I'm sure you know now) heading down to Hamilton on the other side where at least there is a McDonald's (and a hotel if you want one).
I always use the a702 , come off @j13 m74 such a nicer and better drive than straight up the m74 and across to get to the bridge.
I always used to stop at Harthill Services to admire the view!
Should have gone a bit further to Lesmahagow Truck Stop - off a junction 9 south bound, turn right at the next junction right at the roundabout over the motorway and its in front of you..

Great vlog, you were in my local area. I think the day you were up here, the A92 was closed due to an artic had left the road and the driver unfortunately died 🖤. Don't know the circumstances. I guess he took unwell before leaving the road.

I used to stop at Johnstonebridge just over the border every week back in my tramping days.Went up to visit some friends in Guardbridge one Hogmanay pulled in to get my regulation cuppa tea walked out into the lorry park and spent a good minute trying to find my truck before realising i was on holiday and had actually brought the car!!🤣🤣

M6 north of Preston is usually reasonably quiet
22:42 - trying to get up hill at 18mph… do you go full throttle in the truck trying to get up hills? Or do you try and save fuel by not quite going full? Does the engine ever get too hot going up hills like that? Cheers 😊

for Harthill you have to walk across the road bridge to the other side for food unless its changed

Hi Darren. Just joined your UA-cam site. I was up in Scotland back in May, visiting the Kelpies (I live in Manchester). And by the way, although my name shows "Tom", its not. That is my gorgeous husband who sadly passed away a few years ago, and I use his name in memory (I'm Barbara - ever heard of the tv series The Good Life🤣?). Anyway, my brother who worked for Asda, when he did a run from Warrington to Glasgow or Edinburgh, would pull up at the Hamilton Services, he reckons they're the best. I'll get back to let you know the worst one me and my two step-daughters called in at, which has to be the worst services I've ever visited anywhere in Europe or the USA. Just looked on Google Maps, and it doesn't show up. But its on the M9, about 4 or 5 miles from The Kelpies. Anyway, don't go there. Its one toilet, there's no seating for eating, its a Chinese take-away, and you will not park your lorry (a car/caravan combo won't even get in there) not even to use the petrol station. Anyway, the only lorry driver in my family is, as I said, my brother. Have been to Scotland on holiday, to the Highlands. An absolutely amazing place to visit. I've seen lots of places, including the Grand Canyon, the Painted Desert close to Las Vegas, the Alps in France/Austria and Switzerland, all over in fact, and I can honestly say that the Highlands of Scotland beats the views hands down bar none. It will be eerie driving in the fog (or Scotch mist?) if its like that at Glen Coe. Its eerie there in sunshine🤣
Sorry to hear about your husband, it is a good way to keep his memory for sure. I don’t think I have visited the services you mentioned with the Chinese but I will keep an eye out to avoid 🙈
Sorry to hear about the driver that passed 🙏🏻 & sorry to hear the wee fella was unwell 🤒😷 although the service stations in uk are absolutely shocking I still don’t understand why people pay for parking you don’t have to pay for parking in a service station only places you need to pay are truck stops like Route 74 or secure parking areas other than that keep yer wallet in yer pocket & if you get a letter from any parking company straight in the bin with it oh btw enjoyed that well done patience of a saint 👌🏻👏🏻👏🏻🚛🚚🏴🚛🚚

It was intresting watching going through my home town to get to hayfield industrial estate kirkcaldys roads were never designed for big lorries with trailers considering it goes back to 1300

Knew what services you were going to by the title of the video alone. Harthill services used to be really good many years ago. It was called Blue Star services and my mum worked there, now it is just a bare bones petrol station.
With ridiculous prices at the WHSmiths 🙈 it’s a shame too because it has a great location
First night tramping and stopped at Washington services North bound, opened my rear doors and guess what... yes slashed my curtains in the morning 😢
The cheeky buggers, there even too lazy to even walk to the end of the trailer and check the doors are wide open. The amount of money they cost the industry is ridiculous

It’s not bad driving north but anywhere south of Wigan / warrington sucks
If you have a suitable data allowance with your mobile contract, you can create a mobile hotspot and connect your laptop to this to upload your videos. That way you don't need a wifi hotspot as your mobile basically does the job.
I’ve tried a few times that way but it can’t give off fast enough speeds for the upload as there in 4K and around 30-45 minutes long at a time

Why would you go into dunfermline to go to Kirkcaldy
The A92 was closed and came off at Dunfermline and diverted through Kirkcaldy on the A921, all the other roads are too narrow for the truck
Plenty worse... Kinross M90... Cairnlodge M74... Stand out as being awful...

As for the services in scotland you'll be doing well to find a decent one north of Route 74 Truckstop.
I seen the accident on the way back, looked pretty bad, all you could see was the back end of the hgvs trailer sticking out of the woods,
I know those cyclists are entitled to be on that road, but fuck me, surely they could’ve cycled on that path alongside or at least had the decency to slow right down so you could pass. Ridiculous lol.
In Scotland it's illegal to cycle on footways (pavements).

Hi Darren, just found your channel pretty good so far, except for the quite derogatory remarks about the state of our road system in Scotland. You have to remember that we are not as industrialised as England. We quite like it like it like that. I dont agree with the Scottish government putting a lower speed limit compared with down south.. Good luck with your channel.
