Personally I feel like the Pilgrim's Regress resonates with a lot of struggles and doubts in my personal faith journey, but I agree with you that I wouldn't recommend it to a general audience.

This is an amazing book it’s keeping your eyes open to all types of people
During some parts of the book, I certainly felt my eyes glazing over with all the dense philosophical dialogue. I'm just not as well versed in that topic as I would like to be, but it certainly makes it less accessible than Pilgrim's Progress. However, I did enjoy most of the book. I think I got a better reading experience because I have read Surprised by Joy before, where he tells about his life leading up to his conversion, so I could see how Pilgrim's Regress followed his path in the fantasy, allegorical style.

I think "Regress" is the title because after Lewis becomes a Christian he is able to look backwards "regressively" and understand why he said no to all the different philosophies and things that he encountered.
Great review! I don’t agree that it is not timeless. I think it is very relevant to current times, as the philosophies have been recycled and renamed. The New Atheists are like Mr Enlightenment. Mr Broad is the broad church, nominal christianity.
I agree that many of the individual conversations are helpful in many ways. I found many of them to be entertaining. The story as a whole however lacks in the timelessness that pilgrims progress has. Some of the conversations are a bit too esoteric and forgetful to be helpful.

Very autobiographical too. 4/10 is too low, although I am biased, I love everything Lewis wrote. Keep up the great work!
I agree with you that The Pilgrim's Regress is still a relevant book and there is much to be learned and gleaned from it even today.
