  • This time at the Quick Speed Shop I am going to stand up and mount my vintage Richfield sign at my backyard gas station. This is a 60 inch diameter sign, porcelain, double sided. Saved from junkyard, its in good shape with some damage. I made an eight foot pole to mount it on and used my tractor with a temporary jib pole to hang it up. This was super sketchy, but worked. Where's OSHA when you need them?

Looking Good Josh ! I installed my Esso Sign and pole with my tractor Bucket. Took some imagination but did it.

A white knuckle day!! Amazing how you figured out to winch up with the tractor!! Nice work alone, the sign makes the look of the 1940 Gas Station! Time for a Genny!!!

It was a little dangerous then the pole just about broke off and almost dropped everything!

Cool tho. I love those replica old timey service stations...you are probably gonna point some flood lights at it for night time, perhaps.

The pumps will have lighted globes. A lot of these signs weren't lit up back in the old days because a lot of the country stations weren't open at night.

Cool! Mortske Repair just did an episode for a Standard sign also. All those signs are pretty popular these days. 👍

It looks great. You might want to put silicone around the joint in the pipes.

I greased up the pole before I slid it together and there are drain holes in the lower pole.

Did you have to get a permit for the gas station with sign?
Is that going to be a clubhouse where auto enthusiasts can go for parties?

I don't think so, but I also didn't ask so 🤷‍♂️. The store front is only 2ft deep. It's more of a display than a clubhouse. There is vehicle storage out back.

Maybe periodically shoot some Dereks shine juice up on it. Too bad there isnt a way to enclose it in polymer case knowing how expensive they are. 🤔

These signs are actually very durable. This one literally layed on the dirt in a junkyard for years and was run over by a bulldozer and it still looks this good. The porcelain enamel is very durable and lasts forever if you don't crack it.
