I love that you aren;t obsessed with all the expensive and fancy quilting paraphernalia. To a newbie like me, it can sometimes feel like a massive consumption-fest! So I love your dollar store design wall and masking tape sewing ledge. It makes it much more accessible to newbies who can't buy an Oliso iron etc etc. Thanks again! Jay

I'm totally with you in this 'expensive quilting paraphernalia' crazyness. A quilter for 40 years, this saddens me as it's got nothing to do with the original idea behind it. If we stick to the basics and Karen's yt advice we'll be perfect 😉

I bought a pack of fat quarters today from an overstock store...now I know why they were there! I ended up having to cut my squares at 8" instead of 9, but it looks like I'll have some leftover strips to play with!
Also, I've been watching your videos for over a year now, and while I've been sewing for a very long time, I've never made a quilt before! This will be my very first one!

I would like to make 3 look-alike quilts using this pattern. One queen size (which would be covered by your in-video 20 block suggestion) and two "double" size (48x72). These are for our RV, so the sizes are odd, but will fit perfectly. How many blocks do I need for the double sizes? I can follow the tutorial above. but I don't quite know enough about quilting to convert to different finished sizes. Thanks!

Thank you so much for your wonderful videos - so easy to understand and it all makes sense. Just a few questions... in regards to ironing vs pressing - when you are using your iron on the fat quarters in your video, it looks like you are using a combination of ironing and pressing, am I correct? What is the correct method to use to get the wrinkles out of larger pieces of fabric or fat quarters, before cutting into pieces for blocks please....press them, or is it OK to iron?
And also again in regards to pressing. I have finished the blocks and am ready to press them the final time. Last time I pressed to the dark side. Is there any instruction on how to press them this time? There is no side that is only dark - they are all combinations. Help somebody please??
Again, thank you so much. I am making this quilt top now, and it is so fun with your instruction. :)

I love these stash buster quilt projects. Sometimes I just want to sew without any stress. Okay. I always want to sew without any stress. These patterns fit the bill, and you, my dear, are a great instructor!

I like this! Quick, fun, easy. I created a similar design, but on the 2nd cut I rotate the pile... move a few to bottom of stack, and sew back together - NO seams to match so it sews up even faster. GMTA. Lol. Thanks for another fun vid. You’re a natural at this, Karen!

+Cyn Forest there are a number of easy variations...yours of switching the piles and you can also cut wonky. But I felt this was the fastest...for me at least as I get lost in the randomizing. Thanks for sharing.

I appreciate the tip about the border....to hold the focus on the piecing using a neutral solid. Love it.

I'll send a picture once it's done. I have actually been crocheting for about 15+ years and wanted to try my hand in sewing as well because all the pieces are just so beautiful. Thank you

Karen, love this idea! Laying out the blocks IS a time-chew for me, too. I lay them out the way i think i like them, then walk away and do whatever. An hour later, i allow myself one more switch-around, then commit to sewing. This works for me, but i also like the time limit method you suggested. Thank you!

Love this!! Please.. more stash busters! This was great and simple. I Always feel bad making such a simple quilt. Most of my quilts are very designed by me. But the actual quilting is my evil nemesis! I hate quilting.. but I will never pay over $200 to have something done I can do myself! I had the worst experience with a "professional" quilter. Never again no matter how much I hate doing it. This looks so simple! Love it!!

Hello. I came up with a great stash buster. It's similar to the jelly roll race meets string quilt. Sew like size (width) of scrape fabrics together in a long strip. I made 3", 2 1/2", 2", 1"1/2" and 1" very long strips. Then sewed those together with the 3" in the middle then thinner till I had a 12" wide strip. In future I won't use the 1" or 3". Folded the 12" in half then used a triangle ruler to cut out blocks.
