Coach Valvano's Address to the NC General Assembly

After NC State won the NCAA Basketball Championship in 1983, the North Carolina General Assembly honored the team and their coach.
This is Coach Valvano's speech at that celebration.

Dean Smith was a great man. And Jimmy V. was the classiest of acts.

Some look at it with disdain that the Carolina program was present for this honor.
I look at it as them showing respect. Pretty classy if you ask me, and I've been a Pack fan for 40 years.

I've never seen this, but V showed what a class act he was during his comments about UNC's program. Did we ever hear something reciprocal from Dean Smith?

@angeluomo -every year when basketball season starts, my heart aches,how I miss Jimmy V..thank God we (State) were lucky enough to have him for a while'......today is March 20, 2012 and we are going back to the Sweet 16, maybe Coach is looking down and will give all the Wolfpack fans a special nod
