I’m an environmental scientist. Here’s an explanation. The first one - the selective - that didn’t work takes about 6 weeks to show results. It uses a synthetic auxin to encourage the weeds to basically grow faster than they naturally would, they run out of nutrients and die. The hormone it replicates only works on certain dicots and since grass is a monocot with a different evolutionary lineage the hormone does nothing to it. Roundup is a systemic total kill. It also takes a while but it will kill the roots of the plants when applied at the right time of season. Vinegar is a contact herbicide. It torches everything it touches but anything with deep roots or rhizomes will come back eventually. Side note: that vinegar is literally 30% acetic acid. There’s nothing “natural” about it and you’ve been greenwashed. It can be incredibly dangerous to handle industrial acetic acid. It can ruin your eye sight, burn you, and corrode metal. Learn your shit before you make “informative” videos bro. It’s your duty to read labels and understand how things work before you use them, let alone post videos to social media about them.
To add to this, roundup is popular because it leaves no residuals in the soil. If you keep applying 30% acetic acid to your soil soon nothing will grow at all.
@@hoddy1368 roundup/glyphosate applied in fall. May take repeat applications. Use a non ionic surfactant - if you can get professional surfactant use that. If you can’t, use a few drops of dawn dish detergent in place of surfactant. If your plan is to make a parking pad or gravel pad etc, use geotechnical fabric. I prefer the road-base geotech, it lasts way longer, it’s easier to install, and it gives better results. Your budget will determine what type of fabric to buy. You can also use things like asphalt shingles under the gravel to suppress plant growth as a budget option.
The vinegar destroyed the vascular tissue in the leaves, but did not destroy the plant roots. Repeated application will be required to weaken the plants enough to the point where they will die and not return. You still need to be careful in using agricultural vinegar because it can alter the pH of your soil. The majority of plants grow best in a narrow pH range, and it can take a long time for excess acidity to leach out of tge soil. RoundUp has to be translocated to the plant roots, that is why it's effect was not as immediately obvious; it is however very effective because it does destroy the root system. As long as there is sufficient organic matter in your soil, RoundUp will safely break down. The most obvious problem with RoundUp and similar chemicals is that "weeds" by their nature grow in impoverished soils deficient in healthy organic components. Along those lines, healthy balanced soils with sufficient organic matter also substantially slow the growth of opportunistic "weeds".

This was found on: US EPA Glyphosate Human Health As noted above, in a June 17, 2022 decision, the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Ninth Circuit vacated the human health portion of the glyphosate ID and remanded it to EPA for further analysis and explanation. EPA’s underlying scientific findings regarding human health are summarized below, pending reconsideration as described above, in accordance with the court’s decision. EPA scientists performed an independent evaluation of available data for glyphosate and found: No risks of concern to human health from current uses of glyphosate. Glyphosate products used according to label directions do not result in risks to children or adults.
No indication that children are more sensitive to glyphosate. After evaluating numerous studies from a variety of sources, the Agency found no indication that children are more sensitive to glyphosate from in utero or post-natal exposure. As part of the human health risk assessment, the Agency evaluated all populations, including infants, children and women of child-bearing age, and found no risks of concern from ingesting food with glyphosate residues. EPA also found no risks of concern for children entering or playing on residential areas treated with glyphosate.
No evidence that glyphosate causes cancer in humans. The Agency concluded that glyphosate is not likely to be carcinogenic to humans. EPA considered a significantly more extensive and relevant dataset than the International Agency on the Research for Cancer (IARC). EPA’s database includes studies submitted to support registration of glyphosate and studies EPA identified in the open literature. EPA did not agree with the International Agency for Research on Cancer (IARC) conclusion that glyphosate is “probably carcinogenic to humans.” EPA considered a significantly more extensive and relevant dataset than the International Agency on the Research for Cancer (IARC). EPA’s database includes studies submitted to support registration of glyphosate and studies EPA identified in the open literature. For instance, IARC only considered eight animal carcinogenicity studies while EPA used 15 acceptable carcinogenicity studies. EPA does not agree with IARC’s conclusion that glyphosate is “probably carcinogenic to humans.” EPA’s cancer classification is consistent with other international expert panels and regulatory authorities, including the Canadian Pest Management Regulatory Agency, Australian Pesticide and Veterinary Medicines Authority, European Food Safety Authority, European Chemicals Agency, German Federal Institute for Occupational Safety and Health, New Zealand Environmental Protection Authority, and the Food Safety Commission of Japan and the Joint Food and Agriculture Organization/World Health Organization (FAO/WHO) Meeting on Pesticide Residues (JMPR). For more information, read the Revised Glyphosate Issue Paper: Evaluation of Carcinogenic Potential. No indication that glyphosate is an endocrine disruptor. Glyphosate has undergone Tier I screening under EPA’s Endocrine Disruptor Screening Program. Based on all available information, EPA concluded, using a weight-of-evidence approach, that the existing data do not indicate that glyphosate has the potential to interact with the estrogen, androgen or thyroid signaling pathways. The endocrine disruptor screening program did not indicate the need for additional testing for glyphosate. Food Safety Residues of glyphosate on any food or feed item are safe for consumers up to the established tolerances. Before allowing the use of a pesticide on food crops, EPA sets a tolerance or limit on how much pesticide residue can legally remain on food and feed products, or commodities. The complete listing of tolerances for glyphosate can be found in 40 CFR § 180.364. If residues are found above the established tolerance level, the commodity will be subject to seizure by the government. The presence of a detectible pesticide residue does not mean the residue is at an unsafe level. Due to its widespread use, trace amounts of glyphosate residues may be found in various fresh fruits, vegetables, cereals, and other food and beverage commodities. However, these trace amounts are not of concern for the consumer. EPA conducted a highly conservative dietary risk assessment for glyphosate that evaluated all populations, including infants, children, and women of child-bearing age. EPA assumed that 100 percent of all registered crops were treated with glyphosate, that residues were at the tolerance level for each crop, and that residues in drinking water were from direct application of glyphosate to water. These assumptions would lead to much higher estimated levels of exposure than would be expected to occur with actual use. The resulting conservative estimates of dietary exposure were not of concern.

@@depression2electricboogalo70 as long as houses are being built on new ground you can say good bye to the local ecosystem, maybe instead of saying something on here where only people that dont care are going to see it maybe spend your energy with your local community teaching home owners to consider the local fauna when they next renovate their garden
Just get the weed whacker and lawn mower out once a week
You must’ve barely misted with the round up. There isn’t a single thing alive that I’ve sprayed with glyphosate.
i think it is really important for me to mention that 30% vinegar is highly acidic and does lower the pH of the soil if you use a lot of it. as a gardener, i use it extremely sparingly around acidic soil-loving plants like berries. it does kill earthworms and other beneficial insects.
it is highly corrosive, you must not spray 30% vinegar without long pants and gloves. you can google pictures of people whose skin peel off because of exposure. yes, it will hurt. it is a strong acid.
lawn grass generally likes pH6-7 soil by the way.
To kill such beautiful plants by calling them weeds, and have the most boring plain, grass. I really don't understand the north american sense of what a beautiful lawn/yard is
DONT USE ROUNDUP!!!
Did you die too

Why?
@@B1ackWo1f13 hopefully they mean because it causes cancer
@@B1ackWo1f13 it causes cancer
RoundUp works great. It is systemic and takes a week or two but kills the plant all the way down to the roots. A lot of other plant killers only kill the top green and the roots just push the plant back up.
Remember when that shill said RoundUp is so safe that he would drink a litre of it, and then the French interviewer says "We have a litre in the next room; would you like us to get it and you can drink it?" and the shill ran away from the interview?
Does the eco one last or do weeds come back in short time?
That vinegar is not eco friendly.
I tried the vinegar and I was very impressed with how quickly it worked. Probably will need to reapply regularly… But if you don’t have a big yard, it’s a no-brainer.
This is so helpful I’ve been looking for something like this, how is it for pets??
I’m trying to get rid of the grass as well what should I use please
Grass selective herbicide needs to be used.
Please do a follow up in 2-4-6 and 8 weeks. You’ll find very different results. Also try a product such as weed and feed that kills weeds whilst nourishing the grass.
Thanks, this definitely helps

That was surprising! I would love to find something like that Green Gobbler that is selective. Something that saves Bermuda Grass, but kills everything else.
Joey, killing the biodiversity is not good for us or our planet.

@@hualni Well i mean i wouldn't call it environmental nonsense when in your comment you want to save non-native ground cover (Bermuda) over potential native plants in your yard which could benefit your local Ecosystem but i see where you're coming from especially since he/she deleted their comment.
The orthoweed clear takes about a week to work, but it does work.
Thank you for checking the vinegar portion. We need to stop using harmful chemicals
Vinegar white vinegar sea salt granulated and just a bit of dish soap it'll even kill thistles.
How much of each
I love vinegar I tell people to use it for everything and it's so awesome to see it can be made into a weed killer
Salt water kills too. I use it In my driveway. Water softener salt, water, 5 gal bucket, soak 10+ hours, transfer salt water to a sprayer and go. Will start to kill immediately and can see damage in 36 hours. Effective for about 2-3 months.
That vinegar kills top grass and plants, meaning it doesn't kill roots so everything comes back automatically, I didn't like vinegar.
ALWAYS ENVIRONMENTALLY SAFE, IF YOU CAN, BUT TRY TRY TRY HARD TO USE THE SAFE ONE. HOPE ITS AFFORDABLE
We have to think about how something may effect everything. It may seem like its only bad for the weeds but it may be bad for the worms or the birds or for you or for the plumbing or the foundation of the house or the grass lawn. It is best to live simply and to do your job in nature which is to leave shit alone and just let nature do its job.

US EPA Glyphosate
Human Health
As noted above, in a June 17, 2022 decision, the U.S.
EPA scientists performed an independent evaluation of available data for glyphosate and found:
No risks of concern to human health from current uses of glyphosate.
EPA does not agree with IARC’s conclusion that glyphosate is “probably carcinogenic to humans.”
EPA’s cancer classification is consistent with other international expert panels and regulatory authorities, including the Canadian Pest Management Regulatory Agency, Australian Pesticide and Veterinary Medicines Authority, European Food Safety Authority, European Chemicals Agency, German Federal Institute for Occupational Safety and Health, New Zealand Environmental Protection Authority, and the Food Safety Commission of Japan and the Joint Food and Agriculture Organization/World Health Organization (FAO/WHO) Meeting on Pesticide Residues (JMPR).
Food Safety
Residues of glyphosate on any food or feed item are safe for consumers up to the established tolerances.
I personally would have just used tenacity which is a great post-emergent that doesn't kill your grass but kills lots of other weeds you do have to mix it with a surfactant, die, then dilute it with water and use a pump sprayer and give an even coat
I first used Roundup in the 90’s and it worked great. I think they have diluted it so much over the years it no does almost nothing
Ground clear will affect plant roots. Keep far away.. roots of trees go many feet
Could you let me know the name of that weed? Love the ground coverage
Actually use pee
Kills any weeds
Not necessarily a nice way to deal with them
Just funny what you can use lol 😆 😂 🤣
