    Great video, I've always found the saying "perfect is the enemy of good" for music making. Try and make it perfect and it will never be good, make it good and it will be perfect!

    • @AnalogKitchen
      @AnalogKitchen  3 роки тому +1

      I think you’re right in that perfect is a dangerous denominator. Mostly made by people to categorize hierarchical structures. It can undermine the creative process and in this case makes things worse. Thanks for checking John!

    Interesting and complex topic with a conclusion that is different for every person.
    At some point during the course of making song after song and doing the best you can do at the time you get better at recognising your own moment when you can say “that is enough for this one”.
    Playing Live, however, is a little bit different than someone who uses a DAW to make a song. The Live track is a collection of parts of a song that get played together at a moment in time and are a little bit different every time you play the song. So for this method the song is “finished” when you are satisfied that all the parts you have are working together well enough for you to play the song as a whole and nothing seems to be out of place. Creating a Live performance is a reiterative process that sees you constantly massaging all the elements of a song so that when you play the song it can be presented as best you can at that time.
    I find there is more freedom in making and playing a song Live as opposed to the finality of a DAW based approach. I record and release all my songs Live and never use a DAW to make music, I prefer to play my music.
    👍😎

      I feel the same brother. Live is easier to muster and has its own 'pay offs'. When on a daw it's more tempting to add stuff. Also when you build some backup/releases/experience it becomes easier dealing with expectations. Also if you're trying to create a signature sound, it's hard to not be that one hit wonder so the pressure is on sometimes. Thanks for your insights and for watching of course.

      @@AnalogKitchen i want to live stream so having technical difficulties at the moment because ive introduced an audio interface to be the middle man to the PC here. but its kind a hard to work with it as its cheap and nasty (studio24c) sound dratically changed now its not direct into my monitors. so im thinking about a Tascam 16 or 24 and added ability to record all tracks at once on pc. the studio24c 2 channel interface on usb does fix the interference though, decisions decisions. money money !. did visualise my setup to understand routing and future possibilites by making this image... check it out man. i.imgur.com/BrFyPLA.jpg you could do with somthing like that to show me your routing and setup :)

    Great tips and groovy music brother. Overproducing tracks is always there for all of us. I think it's due to some kind of perfectionism that doesn't let you finish things. Some people have a subtractive process where you remove layers and check if this was necessary or not. Others say that you need to finish your track as fast as possible because otherwise you spend so much time on it and your ears get tired so you can't be objective.
    By the way "Funk D'void - Diabla" was one of my favourite tracks when clubbing! Loved to hear that bass today! Cheers!

    • @AnalogKitchen
      @AnalogKitchen  3 роки тому +1

      Thanks Ark, it's perfectionism indeed. And coming to terms with that nothing is (or has to be) perfect. I need to limit myself in adding stuff and that works for me! And like what Sub says as well, it's different for everyone and also wether some works ITB or OTB as well. Looking forward to work together soon!
