This is why Morpheus was always my favorite character. He knew he would never be as great as Neo but he still NEVER gave up because of how much he believed in him.
Also his steadfast dedication. Dude doesnt hesitate to take on The Twins himself, and even holds his ground. Man the fights in this movie was phenomenal
It's no use using your hands and still being terrible. It's a classic for the style, but absolutely awful. Matrix would be 100x better if they used people who know how to fight.
Morpheus definitely improved his hand to hand combat, which shows here that he held his own against an UPGRADED agent (probably thanks to training session with THE ONE himself). But we also have to remember that in this fight, there's alot more space for him to maneuver around his opponent. In the first movie, he was basically cornered into a deadend-of-a-bathroom against an enemy that has superhuman strength, who feels no pain and abused it to the fullest against him
@@Bruhnwhat when neo fights the 3 agents in the beginning of the movie, he tries to hit an agent and he blocks it. Neo then says “upgrades” which means they were upgraded probably
What I love about this fight is Morpheus’ face and attitude. He isn’t deathly afraid, he isn’t cocky, he just goes into the fight with the attitude of “alright, just don’t die”. And the moment he gets the Katana, he rightfully gets a little more confidence and starts to advance. Just good stuff
@@toseeupload8855 no one is like trinity and morpheus the majority died easily with agents. Naobi is the most badass aside the trio but never faces a normal agent face to face. Morpheus is not fighting a normal agent in this scene is a upgrade one
"Every single man or woman who has stood their ground, everyone who has fought an Agent has died." When Neo proved that belief was power, everything changed. For everyone.
issue wasn't just killing an agent, it was in getting away after they respawn a few seconds later. and yet, yes, belief can do a lot when facing overwhelming odds.
Holy crap how did I miss this at 0:23 (and maybe at 0.5x speed to get a clear shot)? Morpheus actually TAKES Agent Johnson's pistol out of his suit and TRIES TO USE HIS OWN WEAPON AGAINST HIM! What a badass!
Reminder: This is an upgraded agent, in the first Matrix, Smith was a ‘normal’ agent when he beat Morpheus so this fight goes to show how important “belief” is to Morpheus!
My personal opinion is that Smith is Smith, and that he was already stronger than normal agents in The Matrix. Which is why Morpheus got murked by him in the beginning.
upgrade does not mean stronger. It simply means they dont fall for the same patterns. When that agent catches neos hand it is a pattern that have already been done when he fought against smith.
Daniel Bernhardt as agent Johnson was a true beast in this scene and being a true martial artist himself really helped…this scene between Morpheus and agent Johnson is definitely my favorite in the whole franchise
I like how the Agents are still as dangerous as they were in the first movie. Neo being able to destroy them easily doesn't change that they can easily beat anyone else
nope, they are nerfed down a lot. maybe not against other chars but against Neo and that's the problem. in the original they were actually a deadly threat. kept you on your toes throughout the movie. afterwards they just become a minor nuisance because, even when they fight lower tier chars, you know that Neo with his godlike power can just swoop in to save the day.
@@hazardeur that doesnt mean they are nerfed though. Just that Neo is absolutely OP. Morpheus pulled of the fight of his life right there and the Agent still looks in total control. Even when "outsmarted", he still stays 100% in the game, warping into the truckdriver. It is perfectly shown that you cant do shit against agents and how impossible it is to get rid of them.
forreal. They make it so clear that Morpheus was THAT GUY before Neo came. From the liberties he was granted to the devoted following of (most) his crew. Even the Twins didn’t wanna fight an agent, Morpheus not only fights but stands his ground/defends another which is sooo much harder than just all out brawling
@edntz maybe so. I still think it’s impressive to have gone heads up w Agents on 2 (that I remember) occasions and live to tell the tale given our introduction to Agents was essentially everyone who ever engaged w an Agent died doing so
I enjoyed the change in the Agent's fighting style: when Morpheus was unarmed the Agent simply tanked the hits, but when Morpheus used his blade the Agent actually had to start dodging attacks.
@@nicolbolas8758 its not really clear if they are actually physically more durable or simply not disabled by things like pain or fear of death so dont care about getting hit outside of it potentially screwing their mission up.
@@nicolbolas8758 this fight is a notable exception though because while we've seen morpheus throw broken tiles and stuff at smith to much effect we do see the agent bleed when hit by the katana which implied that (assuming you are fast enough which you probably aren't, if they can dodge a bullet they can dodge your sword strike pretty easily) if it bleeds we can kill it. Enter the Matrix is also cannon and the only way to kill agents as a redpill in that game is to either knock them off a building or out of a plane or to shoot poison gas at them which they cant dodge.
This scene was probably one of the best actions sequences in the whole franchises. So cohesive. Not too flashy. Minimal weapons. Simple music. Nothing too much. Just the right amount.

Link’s reaction when he says “yes” after Neo saves Morpheus and the Keymaker from the explosion as he drops down on the keyboard as relief always gets me! Haha 😂😂
One underappreciated detail of these movies I've begun to notice is the fighting style of all of the characters and this scene captures it perfectly. Most of the Agent's moves are straight punches and kicks, while they still fight intelligently their attacks are all power and technique, no fancy flips, spins, twists or anything extravagant, he doesn't even have a "fighting stance", he simply just walks up to Morpheus and gets straight to business. They fight in the most efficient and effective possible way, exactly like how you would expect a machine to fight. Morpheus on the other hand does all kind of creative moves and techniques that completely contrasts the Agent's, from the headscissor throw to the jumping knee to the gun disarm, all of which seem to catch the Agent by surprise as Agent's most likely consider those kinds of moves to be too unnecessary or unorthodox to attempt in a serious life or death fight. Adaptation and Improvisation are always seen if not encouraged in martial arts and is perfectly illustrated with Morpheus holding his own against the Agent. Details like these are what makes these movies so great and timeless.
Interesting observation, I like it! Goes back to when Morpheus explains humans can bend or break the rules while, when it comes down to it, the Agents can't. They're simply programmed with the advantages already in place, behaving efficiently & straightforwardly all the while.
now this begs a question, if its effective why dont they use taekwondo or capoiera, those that have unorthodox movements. Capoiera specially is a dance!
Yes, the combat is a metaphor for a hacker attacking a computer program. A computer relies on its strength and durability, which a human cant match. But humans have agility, creativity, ingenuity and spontanaeity the computer programs don't. Which is eaxctly how a firewall or an antivirus would act. Every matchup describes and reinforces the narrative exactly and it was brilliance.
My memory of this in cinemas was overwhelming pride I felt for Morpheus seeing how far he’d advanced. Smith demolished him in the first movie. These agents are stronger and faster than Smith’s generation, and Morpheus fights evenly with this one for the most part. My favourite character by far.
Scenes like this is why Reloaded is my favorite it the trilogy. As crazy as it sounds. The first one was so incredible in every way but the action scenes in Reloaded are unmatched. The action and fight choreography is second to none, to this day. Not to mention playing as Niobe and Ghost in Enter the Matrix literally playing out this amazing scene, adding even more to the overall experience. 😍
But Reloaded used wayyyy too much CGI! The first Matrix movie used more practical effects and this is among the main reasons why it still holds up in 2021
I like the original better, but this one was promising. The last one did not realize that promise though. Loved the game though. It and LOTR : Two Towers were favorites on the ps2.
@@TheMathieu2011 I think they bit off more than they could chew at the time due to the technology back then. I would've loved for them to do a proper remaster of the 2nd and the 3rd instead of Matrix 4 though.
Yeah, Resurrections was alright but it's easily the weakest of the franchise. It;s still better than most sequels Hollywood puts out for older franchises.
In the theater back in the day, at the end when Link threw up his hands and went “Yes!” at the end of the entire amazing sequence, the audience just exploded!
Man, I forgot how good of a fight this was. Morpheus knows that only Neo could go toe to toe with an agent in a fist fight and win, the fact he tries to without any fear and at least for a moment has an Agent on the defensive was great. Dude is really a badass.
@@suzunakuraki3747 They couldnt hold their own against him though simply delay the absolute ass kicking for mere moments longer before Neo started fighting semi serious.
You just have to appreciate how desperate the humans' situation was prior to Neo in the films. Morpheus was one of their best/educated fighters but even he could barely hold his ground against a single agent. The Matrix must have been a place of constant fear and tyranny to enter unless they did so as a fully coordinated team, and even then...
This also kind of helps to enderline just how powerfull Neo is compare to a normal human. Morpheus can barely keep up with a single agent while Neo can casually demolish three at the same time.
@@mickmickymick6927 Except in the first movie, when Morpheus fights Neo and everybody makes a big deal out of it. Then the crew was shocked when Neo won a round. Then again when he fougth the Twins on his own while one of them was enougth to quickly take down Trinity. It may have nerver been directly said he was a strong, but it was certainly showed.
@@florians9949 The twins fight at most shows he was better than Trinity. The fight in the dojo could be that the crew respect him as their captain, or they just want to see what Neo can do. Ballard also held his own against Seraph in EtM and Seraph equalled Neo, so I guess Ballard is Neo no. 2.
Something I’ve always wondered: Did Morpheus level up between the first and second films? In the first Matrix Agent Smith manhandled him easily, in this he kind of holds his own. Is there something in his character arc that accounts for this? Edit 1/9/21: Thanks for the great responses. Opinion seems to break down along two main lines: 1. Smith was always a more formidable opponent even when he was still an Agent, and, 2. Morpheus probably trained with Neo between Matrix 1 and 2 and improved his Agent-busting / also the emergence of the One punctured the Agents’ aura of invincibility and made fighting them seem more achievable.
One thing I’ve heard that I like is that he saw Neo beat Smith and gained some confidence from it. You know in the first he talks about always running from Agents but now he’s willing to take one on. Just a thought.
He has a sword and he not fighting them in a closed room. Even still he is clearly beaten. These are the best fights in the Matrix movies, unfortunately Neo went OP at the end of the first one.
I guess Morpheus applied the same principle of "He is begining to believe", but to Neo and the things the meeting of The One meant for the war against the machines. The hope Neo gave into his life that maybe he wasn't so pointless after all, like other operators and redpills may feel against the machines, the Matrix and shit, made him stand up against every odd the Matrix presented in front of him. That's why at the ending of the first one, when Neo is believed to be dead and reborns into The One, he is minutes away of being killed by the Squiddy and he just looks defeated, but he cheers up after hearing of Neo's waking up and defeating Smith. The same happens on Revolutions, when Neo is indecisive about what to do next and all the high command of Zion hold him saying that they don't believe in the prophecy like Morpheus does, and that they will loose the war against the machines. I don't know, that's what I've always thought about Morpheus character development.
The agent Smith is way different than the other agents because he never was predictable, and morpheus has learned a lot thanks to Neo, and even with all of this morpheus could still be killed fighting that agent but situation was dynamic enough to give him the advantage.
I love the little detail that everyone who was touched by Neo improved their performance in the Matrix. They could never match his power, but he showed them where their limits could be broken.
@@maxmercurythemm827 That thought of yours is a mechanism to help you cope with the contradiction of a red pill kicking an UPGRADED Agent's ass. In reality, the Agent was nerfed on purpose. In the 1st movie a regular Agent didn’t have the least trouble in dealing with Morpheus. And now suddenly out of nowhere Morpheus can hit several times an Agent that can even stop some of Neo’s attacks. Ridiculous. That the Agent didn’t took out his gun (the bullets of which Morpheus can't evade) until Morpheus was one meter away goes to prove the "upgraded" Agent was ironically weakened on purpose for this scene.
It's weird since kung-fu action was such a huge part of the first trilogy, to then have such a minor role in the second. Don't worry though when WB give Matrix 5 to Alex Kaufman, it'll be even worse.
🤔 In case someone is wondering why Morpheus survived this fight against a Agent. It's not a plot twist, he had luck. He ran into the only Agent that actually cares about fashion. Before pulling a gun or attacking the enemy, one always has to fix the sleeves, tie & suit! I like that Agent, a true Kingsman 😎
That Agent's priority was to delete the Keymaker but the hacker that he encountered was Morpheus - the same one that was captured in the first movie. The Agent might want to take him alive so that they could extract Zion codes - it's still a profitable outcome worth trying. If you remember that this Agent is still a program you could say that it resets the defaults that manifests like fixing his tie. You could, i will.
This better be a terrible joke because Morpheus survived the fight against the agent with SKILL, not "lUcK", that's not even a "plot twist", WTF are you even talking about? You make no sense here at all.
This has aged fantastically. It's nice to see a fight scene where you can actually comprehend what's going on because there's not a jump cut every .5 seconds.
It's what happens when you have an action choreography director from Hong Kong. Americans don't compare to them when it comes to camera angles and edits for martial arts.
The Matrix is an action classic but Reloaded is very underrated, it’s such an amazing and memorable action movie, so many iconic fight scenes and one of the best “chase scenes” in any movie. I remember the trailer blowing me away when it came out, the movie itself was a mixed bag, but the action scenes are just as amazing as the original for me.
I don't know where is the "mixed bag", the movie is awesome. My favourite of the series, everything is great and awesome, great story arch, and trinity is so sexy on this movie, Carrie Ann moss was on her prime, just like all the other actors.
@@BogusLion the ‘mixed bag’ is about the inconsistent pacing of the film; a large portion of the first half takes place in Zion. People just weren’t that interested in Zion, and the constant reinforcing and revisiting of the same philosophical themes was tedious (machines rely on us, determinism, there is no choice). All of it makes sense by the end when the story finally comes together in the convoluted architect scene… but for two hours up until that moment, the story doesn’t feel cohesive or like it’s going anywhere. It’s a great film to rewatch but I can see why people didn’t like it at the time. Take the Merovingian scene for example… that’s like 10 minutes of him ranting about determinism. We spent the whole first film being told that choice matters (blue pill, red pill) so we don’t understand how Merovingian’s ranting is important until it’s revealed by the architect that the choice is just an illusion in a broader system of control.
People like having opinions, doesn't mean all of them hold the same gravity. Reloaded is a hell of a movie action wise, plot wise, philosophically wise etc etc. As a standalone movie it is one of the best SciFi movies ever, we don't realise that because it is eclipsed by the first installment, which is one of the best movies ever made.
I bet Matt Mullins would have made an excellent agent. Check his fight scene in Blood and Bone out. Michael Jai White could easily be a character in The Matrix too.
everytime they manage to kill an agent in the series they do something to not show the body because the agent "corpse" go back looking like its previous owner. Just imagine morpheus stomping the agent head off with his knee and the body go back to a faceless 8 years old kid or a 70 years old lady. If they ever come up with a sadistic agent he would probably do that to make morpheus feel bad hahahaha
I like how we can see that Morpheus has gotten more skilled since the first movie when he basically got bloodied up by Smith. In this one, even with upgrades, Morpheus was holding his own much better than he did against Smith in the first movie. Comparing the fights, you can see Morpheus is doing far better, assuming that Neo probably taught the group about the limits of Agents and how to beat them now that he can beat them easily.
I LOVE this theory!! Love the idea that in the 6 months between part 1 and 2 Neo gave some tips to the team about how to handle Agents. That's super cool.
I really liked that little detail on 3:54 mark. The picture of a child, on the truckers dashboard. It's like a reminder, that behind that breathtaking action, there are people losing their lives. Some of them were loving parents.
Lots of details that I just noticed. Tons of power generation from fossil fuel burning to nuclear. The imagery of the transmission lines. The cement jungle and interconnectedness of the network of highways and roads. The numerous skyscrapers that places like Guangzhou actually look like now these days. But also, the two trucking companies were Gidim and Longpath. Gidim are demons or ghosts during Sumerian times. I'm not certain of the meaning of the name Longpath though beyond the obvious.
@@Hexnilium The Wachowski siblings are filmmaking geniuses that reached their height with this film. On par with Kubrick in the way they insist on intentional choices for absolutely every part of the film, down to the tiniest detail. Nothing left random, everything symbolic or evocative. Even if you don't like the films they make, it's impossible not to appreciate the technical precision.
We were SCREAMING, in the theater. I don't care what anyone says. "The Matrix: Reloaded" was THE summer movie, of 2003. Anyone old enough to remember that knows the hype and excitement. The action was on point. The 3rd installment was the kill joy. Part 2 made us like, "I CAN'T WAIT FOR PART 3!!" Yet, Part 3 ("Revolutions") was kinda anti-climactic. Hence....making a part 4 was DUMB AS HELL.😑
@Vikinghood Bluelight House Trinity becoming the chosen one and having the OP abilities instead of Neo reflects the Directors transition from Man to Transwoman in real life . Thus "The One" powers was all of sudden transfered to Trinity. This is just my take lol
Morpheus' character is so motivating, not only in the film, but to people in every day life. When the odds are highly against you, if you believe in your own ability, you can achieve anything. That happens here when he manages to stand his ground against the "updated agent".
What I love about this scene is that the agent isnt there to fight morpheus, he is just there to kill the exile. This is why the agent doesnt pull his gun until morpheus is super close already. Its like the agent was just standing there saying "okey dont get too close or I will have to kill you too".
Check the video again at lower speed. Morpheus ACTUALLY pulls the gun out of the Agent's holster! Credit goes to an upper comment, i did not notice that at all
I liked reloaded. I laughed at some of the bad CGI (especially during the agent smith brawl) but you are absolutely right. This scene was amazing. The smith fight despite its flaws is still fun. The Merovingian fight is amazingly well done. But you had the (unfortunate) recasting of the oracle. And the huge cliff hanger type ending just leaves a lot of audiences unhappy. It doesn't hold its own as a movie because its just a piece of a story. Where as the first movie can stand alone, this one NEEDS the other two to work. And the 3rd movie was trash so this gets lumped in with it.
That 34 minute stretch of the film from 1:02:49 to 1:37:06 is in the pantheon of greatest prolonged sequence in popcorn movie history. It goes from Neo & company finding the Merovingian, to the chateau fight, and then to the highway chase!
This scene is actually so good. It represents and shows that unlike the first encounter with an agent. Morpheus now believes that he can beat one, thus resulting in a victory.
"Almost" so. He got closer than any non-One human before, but the Agent still would've killed him had Niobe not been there to break Morpheus' fall. Still doesn't take away from him, though. Compared to the completely one-sided beatdown from the first movie, this was a HUGE leap!
The Matrix was amazing due to it being a very clean movie and having the greatest impact. The Matrix Reloaded has the biggest scale and most large-scale fight scenes. It let you see how Neo and the others could really fight if needed, with things like the highway scene, dealing with the French Man, even fighting all of the clones - all being quite epic, even if the CGI isn't always perfect. The Matrix Revolutions had the largest stakes and some absolutely impressive CGI battles for the time, but did lose out in martial arts, and the final fight - while it had a huge impact for me overall - definitely wasn't as enjoyable. Seeing people just fly around to fight wasn't as interesting as seeing them fight on the ground and use guns and weapons and such. Though I personally enjoyed all three of them, and the Animatrix which fills in a lot of things and adds some neat little extra content. Hated the Matrix Resurrections though. Really wanted to enjoy it, but it lacked a cohesive plot, spent half the time on bad nostalgia jokes, and the other half rehashing the original trilogy in a worse way. Kinda reminds me of the new Star Wars trilogy - worse than the Original Trilogy by far in terms of overall execution and plot, worse than the Prequel Trilogy by far in terms of actually adding to the world and introducing characters, and so on.
when a movie made in 2002 makes your jaws drop and makes you go WOW! several times in a row - 20 years later - you know that it's a well-made movie. The more the time passes the more you realize how much we've been spoilt 20-30 years ago compared to today when we hope and pray to we see a good movie every few years when 20 years ago you struggled figuring out which great movie to leave out of your yearly top 10.... They just don't make 'em like that anymore...
No kidding, man. _Reloaded_ was considered a letdown back then because of the direct comparison with the first film, but if it had been a standalone (and edited accordingly), I believe it would have been highly regarded at the time. If it came out now, though, it would be considered an unquestionable masterpiece of the 2020s! It's crazy how much Hollywood has degraded & is seemingly unable to tell good stories anymore, or very rarely. 😟
0:41 - such a good callback to the first film when he used that same flying leap against Neo in the training area. He never seems to actually land that knee though
I love how the agents somehow manage to keep their sunglasses on in spite of all the blows they've taken and all the heights they've fallen from. Nice fight scene on top of the truck too
It's not like Hollywood can't shoot action scenes on this level anymore, it's more like it takes too much work & time to do it and studios aren't willing to give directors/stunt coordinators that. John Wick 4 came out in 2023 and had amazing action scenes, but they worked for months in order to shoot them. Like that stairwell scene in Paris, that took them over 3 months in preparation, rehearsals and training to do it.
This was the best theater experience I ever had. It was full of matrix fans that came dressed like the characters and they cheered and started clapping when neo caught the keymaker and morpheus. My college roomate was sitting next to me grinning like an idiot the entire time. This movie was awesome. When we got back to the dorms we logged onto the internet and were shocked to see that people thought this movie sucked. When we left the theater all of us were like "that shit was on the level of terminator 2 , that was fucking awesome"
Seems like many politicians and studio suits. They'll leech off other people, just like the machines leech off the human race, but as soon as you insult their fashion sense, they get pissed off.
3:01 what's with his expression lol. He either really enjoyed that respawning, got really pissed off or maybe both 🤣. But well agent Johnson did won the battle against Morpheus but thanks to Niobe he caught him off guard and took him out. I would be pissed too. "okey you wanna play dirty?, I can play dirty too"
He had nowhere to run and also they needed the key maker more than anything so he played the only move he had left which was desperate struggle for survival. This was his fight with Agent Smith all over again but this time he had help from Niobe.
@@VitunVatiVille indeed, my point was he didn’t just stand his ground when he knew he had no chance. He went straight for him. The fact that this entire sequence took an entire year to make, especially because of the vfx during the truck crashing sequence. Hats off to everyone who were part of the CGI department

The matrix is possibly one of the greatest films of all time. The concept, the cast, the film director, the special effects and the editing.... All go towards a totally brilliant experience. It's up there with the original Star Wars.
There are things why The Matrix Resurrections lacks on compared to the first three Matrix films, The Animatrix and games: - narrative story that’s connected to all three movies - the horror vibes of simulations and machines controlling humans (as Agent Smith described them as a virus). - the Kung fu fights - bullet time VFX - “Guns, lots of guns.” - interesting side characters - inclusive songs from different rock and tencho bands - mind blowing thoughts of what is real and what is a dream (or simulation) - Neo’s growing power of the One What else am I missing? @@jtonxbox1433 that's because it literally was a romance. So instead, she made herself some fan fiction that gave Neo and Trinity a happy ending, and made Warner Brothers pay for it, and I love it. Holy!... I always thought it was Morpheus's gun.
Reminder: This is an upgraded agent, in the first Matrix, Smith was a ‘normal’ agent when he beat Morpheus so this fight goes to show how important “belief” is to Morpheus!
True if it was a regular agent he would have defeated him
This Morpheus is greater than Matrix 1 Smith already
My personal opinion is that Smith is Smith, and that he was already stronger than normal agents in The Matrix. Which is why Morpheus got murked by him in the beginning.

nope, they are nerfed down a lot. maybe not against other chars but against Neo and that's the problem. in the original they were actually a deadly threat. kept you on your toes throughout the movie. afterwards they just become a minor nuisance because, even when they fight lower tier chars, you know that Neo with his godlike power can just swoop in to save the day.
This scene really demonstrates how much of a badass Morpheus was.
forreal. They make it so clear that Morpheus was THAT GUY before Neo came. From the liberties he was granted to the devoted following of (most) his crew.

EXCELLENT OBSERVATIONS 🎉🎉
now this begs a question, if its effective why dont they use taekwondo or capoiera, those that have unorthodox movements. Capoiera specially is a dance!
@@b1ackwollf Eschew excess.

Even with their best training, their best tactics, on their best days, it must have all felt like a 25/75 gamble.
There's no suggestion that Morpheus is a particularly skilled fighter.

It's been 21 year since this film was released.
What a legend.
Especially since the agents have apparently had "upgrades" according to Neo at the beginning.
0:51 that up kick was smooth.
I love the little detail that everyone who was touched by Neo improved their performance in the Matrix. They could never match his power, but he showed them where their limits could be broken.
Agreed
There is no source for your claim. At all.
The funny thing is, in the first movie it's Morpheus teaching Neo to break the limits.
It's hard to believe that someone who directed this scene could not do the same level of action 20 years later.
There are many key people missing in resurrections, the fight director for example i think

In this one, even with upgrades, Morpheus was holding his own much better than he did against Smith in the first movie. Comparing the fights, you can see Morpheus is doing far better, assuming that Neo probably taught the group about the limits of Agents and how to beat them now that he can beat them easily.
That’s assuming lol it’s never explain how Morpheus can even fight one on one with an upgraded smith lol probably plot bs
Smith stood out from the other agents so he is most likely stronger than the upgraded agents in the sequel
I LOVE this theory!! Love the idea that in the 6 months between part 1 and 2 Neo gave some tips to the team about how to handle Agents. That's super cool.
Movie 2 Morpheus > or = Movie 1 Smith already. Upgrade agents is definitely > Movie 1 Smith.
I really liked that little detail on 3:54 mark. The picture of a child, on the truckers dashboard. It's like a reminder, that behind that breathtaking action, there are people losing their lives. Some of them were loving parents.

Some people in the comment section here forget how amazing this was for 2003.
Just rewatched all of them. Reloaded is still my favorite, it’s probably just nostalgia but it was everything I wanted a matrix movie to be.

@Valoriant Legion hell yea!
when a movie made in 2002 makes your jaws drop and makes you go WOW! several times in a row - 20 years later - you know that it's a well-made movie.
Belly backhand!!!
Yes
No car chase would ever dare come close to this chase....EVER!
I love how the agents somehow manage to keep their sunglasses on in spite of all the blows they've taken and all the heights they've fallen from. Nice fight scene on top of the truck too
Where are they why arent they making videos anymore
Even Smith has indestructible sunglasses
@edntz I meant reloaded
@Profkol0rado the blows at the end of Revolutions could shatter glass but they sure as hell had nothing on those sunglasses
People have to remember that these are upgraded versions of agents, which means that Morpheus has gotten way better at fighting agents.
They used to be able to shoot iconic action scenes.
Kun Sanyi Gyulahàza 1982 vs Bardi Bèla
Morpheus is by far my favorite character.
He KNOWS for a fact he cannot beat an agent...yet he will stand and fight every time.
Anyone ever notice when you destroy an agent's suit or glasses they seem to take it personally and beat you even harder🤔
Seems like many politicians and studio suits. They'll leech off other people, just like the machines leech off the human race, but as soon as you insult their fashion sense, they get pissed off.
Machines in the Matrix have emotions as well, you see Agent Johnson here getting steadily more frustrated as Morpheus continues to fight on.
3:01 what's with his expression lol. He either really enjoyed that respawning, got really pissed off or maybe both 🤣.
But well agent Johnson did won the battle against Morpheus but thanks to Niobe he caught him off guard and took him out. I would be pissed too.
"okey you wanna play dirty?, I can play dirty too"
Neo heroically flies in, and breaks both their backs
Morpheus casual walk towards him when he should run, badass!
Half way into the fight where he’s losing and gets up into a fighting pose (pats his stomach) where the agent strives forward shows him standing his ground, naturally losing some confidence. It’s a great fight.
@@liamjordan3068 He walked towards him because the agent had a gun which Morpheus takes from him before he could use it to just shoot the Key maker.(Slow down the video and you will see the agent going for his gun and Morpheus taking it from him only to get disarmed right after) Also again the point was to keep the agent away from the key maker so getting closer to the agent and trying to stop him from gaining advantage was the key.(See what i did there?)
@@VitunVatiVille He might have thought he could beat him, similar to Neo vs Smith in the underground in the first one, Neo didn’t know if he would win or lose that fight.
The agent has no thought of losing or urgency, he would have opened fire on the key maker, either way what happened was one of the best sets in the second in my opinion.
The actor who played that agent was also on Mortal Kombat: Conquest.
And he was in John Wick as the bodyguard in charge of watching Viggo's kid at the club.
The fact that this entire sequence took an entire year to make, especially because of the vfx during the truck crashing sequence. Hats off to everyone who were part of the CGI department
Its trippy watching all the events unfold in this second film knowing that Zion and this version of the matrix are about to be destroyed and rebooted very soon.
The most amazing thing about the programming in the Matrix? Dude never lost his sunglasses despite the hard knocks.
The Matrix Reloaded became a cetified masterpiece after the release of Ressurections.
I can’t believe people criticized this movie back in the day. It’s legit so incredible
We have assholes in all time periods. Quick to judge yet don’t have a fraction of the skill to make such a masterpiece as this
The matrix is possibly one of the greatest films of all time. The concept, the cast, the film director, the special effects and the editing.... All go towards a totally brilliant experience. It's up there with the original Star Wars.
Morpheus has the hardest drip of all matrix
There are things why The Matrix Resurrections lacks on compared to the first three Matrix films, The Animatrix and games:
- narrative story that’s connected to all three movies
- the horror vibes of simulations and machines controlling humans (as Agent Smith described them as a virus).
- the Kung fu fights
- bullet time VFX
- “Guns, lots of guns.”
- interesting side characters
- inclusive songs from different rock and tencho bands
- mind blowing thoughts of what is real and what is a dream (or simulation)
- Neo’s growing power of the One
What else am I missing? Let me know as you reply this comment.
Less Cuts.
It didn't have to be machines that the horror came from but yeah this was a tense movie. Resurrections felt like a romance...
the fights annoy me so bad. its so shaky and you really can't follow what's happening. here in the original trilogy the action flows so well and you can clearly see who the hell is hitting who
im realising that some of the newer trash sequels like ressurections and the 4th transformers movie actually know how trash they are and how many people will hate them and they actually self criticise in the movie itself
@@jtonxbox1433 that's because it literally was a romance.
Resurrection is the way it is because they told Lana that if she didn't make a fourth installment to the story she finished, they'd give it to the guy who made Ready Player One and it would be yet another generic nostalga remake that tries to do all the stuff above and probably fails miserably at all of it, because Hollywood has been trying to recapture the feel of the Matrix for two decades now.
So instead, she made herself some fan fiction that gave Neo and Trinity a happy ending, and made Warner Brothers pay for it, and I love it.
The Matrix 4 was never going to be what the old ones were, they existed in the zietgiest of a moment two decades behind us. I'm glad the fourth one decided to be something else, and I really liked it for itself.
Meanwhile the guy driving the truck is ignoring people doing 720 flips with katanas on the truck, because he has a deadline to meet.
Probably can't see them.
Late state capitalism...
If a trucker is willing to cutoff everyone so they can take 15 miles to pass their buddy at .5 mph faster do you think they're gonna give up their hours for that?
We're all here to do what we're all here to do.
at 0:20 you can see clever transfer from CGI to practical
It's a near flawless transition
Morpheus:" I know Kung Fu"
Agent:" Show me"
THIS scene ALONE is WAAAAY BETTER than the ENTIRE Matrix 4 movie!!!!! 😈
And Matrix 3 as well...
20 ans après cette séquence reste et demeure incroyable. Un pur chef d'oeuvre
I miss the time hollywood had action films that were well directed, edited with clarity and with a killer sense of style
I ALWAYS cry 🤣😂😅 looking in this part.
Love the terminator soundtrack vibe when they both take the trucks
