Absolutely loved the Heavy Gear setting. Glad to see it isn't dead. I checked DP9 over the years every once in a while and it seemed a dry well, so this is a pleasant surprise.
I think you'd get a kick out of Heavy Gear. Despite not being a post-apocalypse game it's got some Mad Max feel to it in the deserts of Terra Nova. But certes, these are a half-step between powered armor and smaller mechs - not veritechs and destroids! So the expectation for power curve still needs to be managed :)
@@thedungeondelver Can confirm! The HG tt/rp system is applicable in so many settings! No game has ever exhilarated me more than playing a "gritty" character in a bug campaign (Starship Troopers)!!
The tabletop wargame, Heavy Gear Blitz, is really easy to get into nowadays too. The plastic army boxes actually have enough stuff to play a full game with some wiggle room to play more than one list. The core rules are a little complex but there's next to nothing as far as army-specific or model-specific rules (cough 40K cough). The rulebook (current version 3.1) is free to download and includes the statblocks for all the models in all the armies.
I Love the series as a kid but sadly I didn't finish due to our Cable was broken. Heavy Gear and Roughnecks Starship Troopers Chronicles where my favorite CGI Shows so far.
😮i LOVE heavy gear for the series, with Marcus ,Sebastián,dirx ,zerve ,sonja and tachi, from the dragons, and the vanguard of Justice wallis third, rank, yoji kirakowa, serge garpenlov and gunther, and colonel magnilda rykka, and maddox and augusta, only fourthy episodes
I used to own nearly all the books for 1e Heavy Gear but had no players to run it. Then I lost them in a move. I always wanted to get back into it. I’ll likely back the Kickstarter for 4e.
A local used bookstore near me has stacks of the HG 1e books; I might go trawl their shelves...agh! I'm in the same boat as you, no players to run it with.
Do they have any plans for their silhouette core role-playing game? I still use that because it's a great RPG system for genres completely divorced from heavy gear.
I would rather they revive the video games rather than play a nonexistent tabletop in my area. They simply don't care about Assault. How they allowed the mektek team get shit on by their licensed parent company is outrageous. Ever since Minnesota's battletech arcade closed, I haven't been able to play that either. BattleTech and Heavy Gear Blitz community sadly does not exist here.
This. I would like a new Heavy Gear piloting game but I would love a Heavy Gear Turn-based strategy game. Something kind of like the Harebrained studios Battletech game in the Heavy Gear setting would be awesome IMO.
Heavy Gear was a powerhouse. Then the original crew left and it just wasn't the same after the original crew broke apart in heavy drama. The game now is as far away from the original's atmosphere as we are from the Moon. Different animal.
That's a shame to hear. I loved the vibe of the original HG, the artwork, the slick simplicity of the rules that were fast paced and grounded in reality...they're missed, for sure.

Yes! Robotech in the 80s...and RIFTS in the 90s were my fix...

They need to make palladium rifts anime base off the books
Need DP9 Heavy Gear PC games sequel

I have always preferred the Jovian Chronicles background by DP9.
Though the Mekton System is the greatest mecha game ever.

This sounds like a dream, I'll have to see if they do late pledges

There was video game for the computer
Two, actually! I fondly remember the beta for the 2nd. :)
Love Heavy Gear
It is such a nifty game!
It always reminded me of armed trooper votom
It very much has an AT:V vibe to it, for sure. I seem to recall some fan conversions of VOTOMS for Heavy Gear but I can't remember where.
I only watched the tv show but I am interested!

I'm not sure; yeah they built that horror/postapoc/fantasy game Tribe8 from Silcore, didn't they?
@@thedungeondelver not sure, never played it.

Almost made it 1st.
