This saga has increasingly impressed me film by film. The political themes, dystopian vibes and absolute killer performances are something that has made these movies something I genuinely look forward to watching. Watching the edits/closeups of Denise’s face when Ari says something about a character that has something happened to them was really one of the funniest parts of these reactions.
so many people get angry and annoyed when Katniss is focusing on the Peeta instead of the rebellion, but they always forget that Katniss is just a teenager. She's like 17/18 and has just gone through all of this trauma TWO years in a row, and is automatically thrust into a war, without any time to process what she's been through. And even tho Peeta was forced to say the things he said, a lot of it had truth to it. Her and Peeta weren't aware of the plan during the 3rd Quarter Quell. They were left in the complete dark. She didn't ask to be the face of the rebellion, she didn't ask to be the symbol of hope, she didnt ask to be the Mockingjay, she was just a teenage girl who wanted to go home and be with her family and the people she loves.
Honestly, seeing how hard she fought to make sure that Peeta was the one to survive, it makes sense that she feels this upset. He was her rock - they held on to each other so fiercely, and her survivor's guilt is compounded by the sense of betrayal she felt from Haymitch for 'abandoning' Peeta... You are so right. She is still so young and carries so much trauma and responsibility without ever having asked for it, it's so heartbreaking.
And the fact that Peeta is the only one who can relate to Katniss in some levels that even Gale wouldn't understand. Also, Peeta is calming and charming so when she loses Peeta, she loses her peace so it only make sense that she's always looking for him.
@@hana3703 literally, you could see it in the last movie when she was getting attacked by those Jabberjays, she was screaming and running to Peeta because he comforts her and calms her down. thats why in this movie, even tho Gale is literally there, she is dreaming about Peeta to calm her down🤭
You're one of the few people who really get that Finnick and the other victors were abused. The movie almost glosses over it, his speech is basically background noise to an action scene. Also remember that those victors are all underage too. Finnick was 14 when he won. We knew the Capitol is terrible, but it just highlights an extra terrible aspect of the Capitol, they traffic children after trying to murder them.
Thank you so much for your kind comment!! I think what it takes is to realize that even the tributes and Victors from the Capitol and District 2 are victims of the system - they are indoctrinated into this world, believing that this is all there is. The Capitol's depravity and cruelty knows no bounds, and we see it through their treatment of the Avox, what they did with the mutts in the first Hunger Games books and then of course, what we witness now and in Mockingjay Pt 2. The Capitol fights tooth and nail to uphold their hierarchy, and the tributes from Districts 1 and 2 are no exception to that. It's cult-like really, if you think about it.
it doesnt matter how many times i have seen it, everytime i watch that scene with peeta when he warns katniss and district 13, i burst into tears every time🥺Peeta doesn't deserve ANY of this. he is so sweet and selfless and he always seems to get the worst of it
Oh my goodness, same!! What Peeta was put through is honestly devastating, especially considering he is so sensitive and such a person with hope - he did not deserve it. None of them did.
The saddest thing about the whole Peeta storyline is that in the first Hunger Games he said he didnt want to die as Capitol's weapon and doesn't want be changed into something that Capitol wants and wants to have the pride and dignity to die as himself untouched by their influences and in this movie, Capitol torchered him and made him a weapon against the Rebellion through his interviews and literally a weapon to kill Katniss by brainwashing him so much so that he isnt even himself by the end
Right!! The one thing Peeta said that he didn't want to be owned or changed in any way - and the Capitol did just that. But he did come out of it!! He is so strong, and he never loses his kindness which is why he's such a great character!!
Hearing Finnicks backstory shocked me. Cause the way we originally met him was sort of as the play boy but to hear exactly what his trauma was really brought so much humanity to his character
This!! It added such layers to the initial bravado he was introduced with in the second book/movie. You see that it was his survival mechanism on overdrive! What a fascinating and amazingly written character!
and also just everything about his beautiful relationship with Annie adds sm depth to that first look of play boy, obviously even more after learning this too
In the books, Katniss wonders if Haymitch went through what Finnick did and she asks him. He said no, I was the example of what happens when you go against them. Haymitch won his games by using the force field to kill his last opponent. Obvisously it wasn't the capitol's intention to be used that way and they were pissed that Haymitch showed them up. Kinda like Katniss and Peeta with the berries. They killed his entire family and girlfriend before he got home
Such a horrible backstory. It adds so much depth to Haymitch as well. The Capitol and everything they do is absolutely revolting. Glad the films were able to capture the essence of that so well.
The reason I watch so many reactions to these movies is because I wish I could watch them for the first time, and this is the closest I’ll get to that. Of all of the reactions I’ve seen, there is no one better at explaining the meaning behind these films and how that meaning correlates to the present than the two of you-even though only one of you is familiar with the stories! Incredible stuff.
Finnick's wise words saved me from my depression and they are my life motto now. I'm not kidding. When I read his line a few years ago when these books came out it struck me so deeply I would never forget it afterwards, it's engraved into my heart. "It takes then times longer to put yourself back together than falling apart." Thank you Finnick for saying that. Thank you for giving me a guideline to live by!
You are not the only one!! Those words got me through my depression and anxiety as well, and reading those words as a teen helped me feel so seen - so did Katniss. Such wise words and so much compassion in the books, it's definitely made a big impact on who I wanted to be!
Aw thank you so much! Sending you alll the hugs back! Things are looking up for sure and I hope they do for you too! You're so strong too, stay awesome girlie!❤️
For me it’s that quote by Finnick and the one by Iroh “You must never give into dispair. Allow yourself to slip down that road, and you surrender to your lowest instincts. In the darkest times, hope is something you give yourself. That is the meaning of inner strength.” Both of those help me through the dark times.
Also how interesting is the President Snow & Katniss dynamic! In the books & in the films it always blows my mind how we have the heroine & the villain interact like they do. Even though they have completely polar ideas on how to run a country & how to be a decent human being… there is honesty in their interactions. It’s so unusual. Plus Jennifer & Donald just chew up their scenes with impressive acting. Wow. 👏
Yes!!! Snow's line of them promising not to lie to each other is one of my favorite aspects of their relationship to one another! And of course the actors truly do kill it!!
i really love how much you can tell that Katniss has fallen for Peeta in this movie, even when he isn't there. When Haymitch says in Catching Fire "you could live a 100 lifetimes and never deserve that boy" this movie really showed that the feelings between Katniss and Peeta are mutual and that she really loves him and they deserve each others love and appreciation
Yeah, from an outsider's perspective it is quite clear she loves and is in love with Peeta, but Katniss has so much on her plate, she can't even begin think of romance. Peeta and Katniss are good for each other!
@@OfficialMediaKnights yea ik, im not just here for the romance, and obviously there is so much going on, i just like how Peeta is FINALLY being appreciated by other people besides Haymitch. Haymitch was the only one who really knew Peeta's worth and im just happy that Katniss not only knows it, but is showing it as well
I feel so bad for Katniss, you see her at the end watching Finnick and Annie and I have to wonder if she's thinking how this will be her and Peeta in a few moments... and then THAT happens😭😞
In the books its exactly what Katniss is thinking. She is so relieved he is back and so desperate to see him, to touch him, reunite with him… and equally terrified to see exactly what has been done to him, her guilt is overwhelming because she believes in her heart all his suffering and pain is her fault and her doing; so she isnt sure if he will be truly happy to see her, wonders if he blames her as much as she blames herself. And with that fear, she still hopes, and doesn’t care. Tells herself if he is mad she will accept it and earn his friendship back somehow… and then she sees him… she hurts for him and all she wants is to hold him, comfort him as he always did her… and then he attacks. And she is in total shock and devastation. (And later, so jealous of finnick and annie, so resentful of everything, hating herself, too… and she doesnt want to look at peeta because of the guilt, and because she cant bear to see him looking at her without that love, kindness and light in his eyes… and knowing that because of the capitol, when he looks at her he is probably filled with horrifying fear. She hates that she is hurting him more…) its truly heartbreaking. And such a nasty (clever) twist from the author. Because we spend all that time desperate for their reunion, right alongside Katniss. And we have that moment snatched from us just as painfully as she does..
25:50 yeah there’s a deleted scene you can find on YT of Snow basically blackmailing Peeta with his family’s safety which breaks my heart because they were already gone 😢
Always remember Suzanne Collins was commissioned by Scholastic Books to write these books to teach middle school students about politics and war. The themes just become clearer as you go through the 3 books.
The hubs has no idea how much he made his wife incredibly happy to enjoy these movies with her. She looks like she fell in love with him all over again! Legit bright eyed & in love. Super cute bond. Great reactions. You two are adorable & I love your channel💜
I watched this movie in theaters and i gotta say this movie transcended the YA action adventure genre it was in the previous two movies and became something so much deeper and visceral...the themes about war and freedom and sacrifice were all done so beautifully and the entire politics they showed in this movie was just next level and i hate that people don't give this movie its due because they think its just another twilight like shallow young adult movie...that whole blowing up the dam sequence with hanging tree song playing in background still gives me chills
Right!!! This is considered Young Adult, but the themes are so mature and deep... I couldn't believe how much I missed out on having read the books and watched the movies when they first came out. Having grown more mature, having endured more life experiences, I was overwhelmed by the depth of analysis on trauma and oppression (among countless other themes!) and it saddens me that this was qualified as YA. The dam sequence will always get me teary eyed, no matter how many times I watch it!!
@OfficialMediaKnights YA just means it was marketed to teens. Show a little more respect, please. Teens aren't stupid, and neither is their media. Every age group has fun media and serious media. Just because it's for teens doesn't mean it's inherently lesser.
Literally at no point in time did we say YA is lesser. The issue we take with this being marketed as YA is that it significantly impacts the marketing, and therefore the reach of the audience. We wished that it was pushed in a more generalized way. Aside from that, the push for YA also forced the author to make some changes, especially some heavily gendered ones, such as the love triangle. So do you see how that would sadden us, that the true story had to be changed because somebody decided this was only for one section of people? Many people do jump to conclusions, not unlike you have with your response to our comment, that YA is lesser. We were actual teens when this came out, and I (Denise) read all of them. There are so many insightful and intelligent comments going around here, and much insight we have to share in our video and it's a little sad that this is the only thing you seem to have picked up.
@OfficialMediaKnights "it saddens me that this was qualified as YA" and the marketing on this franchise was AMAZING. They filmed propos and had Capitol-style photo shoots. It was one of the most effective marketing campaigns I've ever seen. If you want an example of wrongly trying to market a popular YA adaptation to some imaginary wider audience, then look no further than Divergent. 😂
Man, i was anxiously waiting for this to drop! Because of you guys, i binged watched the entire series, and it is phenomenal!! Its hard to pick a favorite movie because they do a good job to make the movies feel like 1 coherent story that its hard to see it as 4 pieces separately. Finnick is my favorite character. He has such a sweet heart for such a tragic character. Too win the games and as a victor be pimped out...and bei g only 14 years old?!! Shows you the cruelty of snow. And him at 14 being smart enough to know that info is more valuable than money...i would see a mini series on him alone!
RIGHT?!? I adore Finnick - the way he's managed to play the games even after winning and becoming a victor is seriously awe inspiring! He is definitely one of my favorite characters! I've been obsessed with this series for years, especially once I rewatched it a few years ago when I was older and more mature, and holy cow!! This story is so damn rich in political commentary but also themes like trauma, grief, PTSD, love, loyalty, bravery... It's so complex and gaah I just love it so much 😂😂😂 ok imma stop fangirling now! Thank you soo much for your support and kind words, it's always awesome to see your name pop up!
@@OfficialMediaKnights i understand completely!! I spend an hr just fangirling to my wife explaning every detail!! She just had the One punch man poker face the whole time....but still i had to get it out of my system XD
Hahaha can definitely relate, that was me gushing to Ari telling him he HAS to give Hunger Games a shot, poor man, I yapped his ear off 😂😂😂 sometimes you just gotta vocalize your appreciation fot Hunger Games 😂
Wow! You guys reaction is one of my favourites so far! I don’t know if it helps that one of you have already seen the movies and read the books but it’s so nice how you catch on to every detail that most people miss, the thing that Finnick tells us about how his body was sold is usually completely missed by most because they’re focusing on the action and they’re not really paying attention to what Finnick is saying. It’s so messed up what happened to him as well… it’s bad enough but it’s even worse when you remember that Finnick was the youngest victor who won his games at 14. What they did to Peeta is so messed up, I’m always glad when people like Peeta in the movies because I feel like in comparison to the books they did do his character quite dirty, because they took away 80% of his personality and didn’t fully show his strengths and wit and a lot of nice moments are gone. That is nothing on Josh Hutcherson though, he’s great as Peeta and if given the chance he would’ve ate up book Peeta’s personality, he does a great job of getting people to love Peeta and miss his presence anyway because you feel how good he is. I feel like his acting for hijacked Peeta is so good as well, you can really feel that deterioration and madness. Jennifer may not be how book katniss is described because I always saw her as indigenous, but she does such a great job of portraying her even if we can’t see inside her head. You really feel for everything she’s going through, you can tell just how traumatised she is by everything she does, even though we still see her defiance as well. Also like you say as well… I despise love triangles and I would appreciate the depth of Gale’s character way more if all that love triangle stuff was gone and they just made them close friends, cause he just gets really annoying and hard to like when he’s being weird and pushy about if she loves him while she is traumatised and confused, and it just makes him hard to route for when there’s so much more about his character that would’ve been more interesting if that was all gone.
Wow this was a fantastic comment to read!! Thank you for sharing your insights! Couple things - definitely agree on the casting for Katniss! Jennifer Lawrence did a phenomenal job with this part, she gave it her all and it was truly a satisfying experience to see such a beloved character to me, come to life this way! Though yes, Katniss definitely reads as Indigenous, the same goes for Gale. There are subtle references all throughout the book that codes certain districts and characters to have more POC than is shown in the movie. The way the characters were handled honestly was masterful. I'm a huge fan of the books and the movies did them justice!
@@OfficialMediaKnights oh I wasn’t expecting a response! But yeah, I will never understand when people hate on Jennifer’s acting with Katniss, I used to see it often and I completely disagree. People say that she’s unlikeable and awkward, but tbh… that’s kind of how Katniss is, that’s how Haymitch even describes her, especially since we can’t see in her head like we do with the books she showcases her feelings perfectly! Yes! Katniss, Gale and Haymitch as well are all indigenous, which makes more sense so I’m a bit surprised that they didn’t at least give Haymitch darker hair to look more like Katniss than Peeta but… Woody suits that blonde hair that it’s kind of hard to imagine Haymitch any other way now. Yes! For all the characters they do a good job, the only small thing is I wish I got more of book peeta since a lot of his personality is gone but like I said before Josh Hutcherson still makes him likeable even though we’re a missing a lot of their scenes.
i’m so happy you like this movie because so many people don’t! i was kinda scared but i’m glad you get the meaning behind why these movies are the way they are and how this became much bigger than the games
It honestly boggled both our minds that people didn't like this one?? Like so many people complained that the final book was split into two parts, but I think they did a fantastic job really hashing out the details of the world! We absolutely loved this movie, I (Denise) always loved this movie, but I've grown to appreciate it so much more now that I'm older and have more life experience. I feel that the people who didn't read the books maybe went in, expecting the same kind of level of action from the first two and then were disappointed when it was very different tonally? I don't know, I honestly cannot relate!
People don’t like the lack of action in the movie. Some people focus on the more rudimentary parts of movies instead of what’s really going on to set the whole rebellion up for part 2 imo. I thought the whole process in this movie was super intriguing!
In the original plot of the book Gale was Katniss's cousin and there was no love triangle but the publishers forced Suzanne Collins put a love triangle plot it was all the rage for YA novels during that time and i think the story was better off without it...if there had been no love triangle, we could have focused more on Peeta's character and building Katniss's affection for him instead of her being put into this stupid love triangle bullshit...also because of the love triangle, people didnt like Gale and Gale could have been an amazing character to show how hatred turns people into the people you hate and explored more of his trauma and anger...and in the books, it turned into a joke because after winning Hunger Games Gale is presented as Katniss's cousin in interviews because he was too handsome and manly to be presented as her best friend without jeopardising Katniss and Peeta's fake romance cooked up by Snow
THIS!!! There is a reason I despise love triangles - usually they're forced into stories that originally didn't have them, and it is more frequent in female authors' stories. It was so utterly redundant, and like you said, did hinder us truly being able to see Gale for who he is. His behavior during this love triangle situation just felt so... Slimy? Not sure how else to phrase it. Luckily, Collins is an incredible writer so she still did a beautiful job with the story!
I think it was actually her editors not the publishers, and in hindsight they made the right decision. Yes the love triangle isn’t “necessary” but in terms of marketability and sales it proved extremely effective. I still remember in school there were so many discussions and arguments about “team Gale or team Peeta”. It helped make the books and movies sell so I can’t be mad at the decision as it helped it become so widely known. We will never know how many sales the books and movies would’ve done without the love triangle angle but it most certainly helped massively.
31:34 I mean, that face is why i enjoy your reaction. One of you guys obviously know the whole story and one seeing everything unfold is so interesting. I really enjoy the reaction of the whole series and feel sad there is only I more.
Listen it took me a minute to recover from that (no spoilers) 😂 Thank you so much for your support and kind words, it truly makes our day. We too are sad it's almost over. 🥺
9:02 fun detail: the tie peeta is wearing symbolizes a dagger being pointed at his throat. Showing that there is something not quite right. Though I suspect that at this point he is mostly being manipulated rather than tortured.
I’ve seen this movie… idk, more times than I can count. And every time the rebels scream “WHEN WE BURN YOU BURN WITH US” from the trees and the earth explodes, I burst into tears. The power of that scene, and the representation of the symbol and the hope that Katniss is. It’s absolutely mindblowing.
I read the books before I saw the movies. I never usually like the movies because the books are always better. I was pleasantly surprised at how great the movies are. I like all of them and have even have watched them all several times. It’s been fun watching with you both great commentary 😊
They did an amazing job at establishing the same atmosphere! Glad to hear you enjoyed the films as well! Thank you so much for watching this with us ❤️😃
Agreed. Even tho so much is missed, it's not. They did a great job putting in what they really needed and tweaking a few things for time. The cast is incredible tho!
Hi! Thank you so much for reacting to this! Yours is one if my favourite HG' reactions ever! The way you understand the story and empathize with the characters is very welcoming! I've seen others where it feels more of a chore to react but your is very genuine! Congrats❤❤
I’m sorry, but I absolutely love it when he says ‘don’t you think I know your friends are in the tribute centre?’ Katniss thought she was playing Snow when it was the other way round
Gale was very unfair. He claimed that he would never say certain things, not even under the worst torture. That's straight bullsh*t. 😅 No confession, no word, no promise is worth anything if people say it while being under torture/under the worst pain. Gale should know that, and the people of district 13 as well. They already knew what the people of the capitol were capable of. So hating Peeta for saying what he said WHILE HE WAS PROBABLY HELD AT GUNPOINT is ridiculous. Great, great reaction guys! ❤❤ I love watching this together with you.
Exactly!! Gale should have known better!! What I think clouds his judgment is his hatred towards the Capitol but also the fact that Peeta being 'out of the equation' didn't really change his situation with Katniss. He tries to be a better man by volunteering to rescue him, but then falls right back into his old ways... Thank you sooo much for your support through this series, it's always so wonderful to read your insightful comments!! We appreciate you❤️
@@OfficialMediaKnights thank you so much for saying that. I greatly appreciate you guys too. 🥺 Watching and discuss movies together with you feels like doing that with friends, and it's a beautiful part of my daily life now. Isn't it great, how HUMAN all these characters are? Every character in the books/movies can also be found in the real world, in our day to day lifes. Katniss, Cinna, president Snow, Effie, Haymitch, Gale, Peeta... To be honest, Effie is one of my favourite characters too. At the beginning I hated her but she changed and grew a lot throughout the series. 🩷 And her attitude is so funny and endearing at times!
Totally agreed on all counts! Effie is such a wonderful character and addition to the story - her lightness, even when it's inappropriate sometimes, is much needed and adds a nice humor! One of my favorite moment is in the first one when Katniss stabs the table, and Effie just gasps "That is mahogany!" Don't know why, but it always makes me laugh!!
I love these movies sooo much and the reason I watch so many reactions is, because I wish I could rewatch them for the first time and you guys gave me that feeling! Thank you so much for that! ❤ I absolutely love your reactions to those movies and I am so happy to see, that you are completely into it 🔥 Can't wait for Part 2 🤩
Yaaayyy, another fellow fan!!! It gives me so much joy to see how many people love this series like I do (and now Ari is part of our little gang too haha). We're so glad you enjoyed our reaction and that it gave you that feeling! What a huge compliment!! Part 2 is also out just sayinnn'!!!
The song itself came from the book. Katniss and his dad used to sing it a lot. She also sang at school as a kid, that's one of the reasons Peeta has always had a crush on her. (And I thinj Jennifer has a beautiful voice as well )
Yes!! Jennifer has a wonderful voice and the song is just incredible, especially the way the voices of the rebels blends with hers as they approach the dam. Chillllls!!!!
I am new here but immediately subscribed! I don't know what sold me more, her facial expressions about future events that take place or his sudden realizations LOL I love it here.
Honestly, ive watched so many people make fun of this movie and to see you pay such close attention and enjoy the film is incredible! Also, I really appreciate when the lady never spoil the fun for her friend that have not watch the film❤ this is so entertaining !! SUBSCRIBED
Seriously!! The sociopolitical commentary in this is SPECTACULAR - and so well written into the story, it is understandable throughout all ages. I miss those days!
The series was about much more than war propaganda, overall it was about blind deference to one central power and how power corrupts. In fact, Donald Sutherland wrote a great note/short essay that was included on the DVD/Blu-Ray extras about his understanding of Snow and the world of Panem.
i read the books in highschool a few years before the first movie came out. proceded to watch all the movies at the midnight release in the theatre by me. there was this middle age dude on the spectrum who was there every time being super vocal and cheering for hype moments. dude would be the first to cheer and then everyone would chime in. good times.
I just have to say you completely made my night I've been in the hospital for weeks and I just got home today and I was really hoping to watch this with y'all so thank you so much and I love you from Canada love kara
I have to be honest: when I watched this movie, I was 24yo, and didn't appreciate it that much. I loved the 2nd one with my heart, but started to dislike Katniss a lot with this third one; specially in the books. But now, at 33yo, I'm understanding Katniss's mind and feelings. I've experienced actual loss in my life, and it feels more real. More than the sci-fi and the action, the story is feeling more serious, more impacting. I'm loving it.
I definitely feel you on that - gaining life experience, experiencing loss and trauma for myself has definitely opened up a different way for me to see Katniss and the story. I always told Ari that it helped me understand her but also made me feel seen. It's almost cathartic to see PTSD, grief and loss portrayed in such a nuanced way.
I knew there was more to Finnick when I saw how much he obviously cared about Mags, even before the Quarter Quell started. Katniss was watching the same video, but as usual, she kind of missed that.
Aw thank you!! We love Finnick, he's truly gone through hell and still somehow managed to turn the game to his advantage somehow. It makes me think of what Haymitch said in Catching Fire, how Katniss and Peeta will never get off this train. The games never end - even for the victors, and Finnick is no exceptions. His story is so heartbreaking.
29:36 you also literally commented on his face. They are clearly physically torturing him. Not just mentally. He looks guant and like a skeleton. So they are starving him at the very least. And much more. Edit: also, the movies played up the love triangle more but in the books it's not really as much a thing. Peeta was always the most important to Katniss and Gale was just a really good friend who helped take care of her family. 36:03 yes, you see that in the second movie. When he takes a sip of the champagne and there's blood in the backwash. It's because he's taken poison all his life to build up immunities to poison. But that's what that is.
Yes!! Whatever was being done to Peeta certainly didn't end with physical torture - and you can see it in his eyes, it's honestly devastating. Agreed on all other counts as well! Thank you for your awesome comment!
@@OfficialMediaKnights yes, Peeta deserves the world. I HATE seeing what they've done to him. 😭 And ty! I'm eager to see y'all's reaction to the last film!! You're definitely becoming one of my favourite reaction channels!!
This is probably my favorite in the series, everyone turns up acting wise. Some of these scenes, and some in the next film couldn’t be filmed by ANYone other than this cast. The story was built perfectly to this point of beautiful disaster, and it would’ve looked very different with a different cast.
Right!? Absolutely agree! Everything from the acting to the cinematography...the beautiful score and that powerful ending that sets up the next film. This movie elevated the franchise even more. I love how even though they all have different tones in doing so they are able to bring something different to the table. And with this new perspective we start seeing the full picture. Such an amazing franchise!
On the Catching Fire reaction, I mentioned how well cast the movie was. In Mockingjay, they add Mahershala Ali, Julianne Moore, Natalie Dormer, Patina Miller, and others. So well done.
just came across your guys' channel the other day. havent been able to stop watching your reactions theyre so good and entertaining!! you guys should react to the maze runner series. i think you guys would really like it!
There is so much I'll need to remember to say in the next one regarding the way the expressions in this one are so on point lol. But yeah again the way each movie goes further in scale, and the way everything gets even more powerful, with the awareness of the world and the way it operates, and how all these people have to operate in it. The political commentary is masterful, and so is the personal cost constantly woven in. So many scenes here gave me goosebumps all over again, and the tears, but. I'm saving myself for the next cause that one always leaves me dehydrated. Very glad you're both enjoying visiting and revisiting this! Once more in awe of the acting and everything else. They really used that budget so well, and James Newton Howard provides the perfect score that is haunting and tense and beautiful.
Hahaha girl do not get me started, I already know I'm gonna be a balling mess in the next one 😂😂😂 I was getting teary eyed in this one left and right - so many powerful moments, and anytime the people salute Katniss amd James Newton Howard's score starts playing, I get all the goosebumps and the tears! Definitely agreed with everything else you said - the political commentary, and how well the revolution was written is just such a treat! I love that the emphasis in this is that it's the people coming together to revolt - it's not just a singular hero doing it all. That's how true change is made - when people unite. Wish more movies understood that part but oh well! Thank you so much for your consistent support, you have no idea how much it means to us to see your name pop up! We appreciate you!!
@@OfficialMediaKnights Yupppp, I definitely need to remember the tissues, but because Part 2 takes such a toll I forgot for a while, as you said, all the powerful moments in this one that just. Get you in all the feels. And yes, the focus on the people coming together resulting in the power of the revolution is just. Chef's kiss. And so relevant, always. Thank YOU, I've been struggling a bit lately and every time I see you guys post I feel so much better. You are very very appreciated, and your kindness and amazingness is the best. I'm so happy you are getting more and more views and subscribers, this is such a lovely haven full of great content and all you great people.
That means a lot to us. We’ve both been there. Been through some rough times like most of us and films have always been our refuge. It warms our hearts to know now we get to pay it back and we are so grateful we get to entertain all of you. If we can make your day even a little better then it is more than worth it to us ❤️
Mockingjay typically gets kind of bashed, and yes, it shouldn’t have been two movies. However, these movies have a lot of stellar moments. It was a genius move to change it from the books and make Effie an actual character in Mockingjay. Elizabeth Banks is too good. If you can bring her back you should. Don’t know if it’s intentional but Katniss making the cat chase after a light could be seen as kind of what’s happening with them. Just being toyed with. The blood sores in Snow’s mouth were hinted at last movie. He took a sip of Champaign and blood came back into the glass.
Yess to all of the above, though to be fair, I appreciated that they split the ending because that way we got to delve more into the world, but I can understand why it ruffled some feathers for some people!
Doesn't matter how many times I watch this movie series and also countless reactions, it would still get me every time. It was such a great series I miss Katniss and Peeta :')
It's funny how we see it, and that's exactly what Isreal did to the hospital in Palestine 🇵🇸. We see this and feel unjust yet we do nothing in the face of world war 3 basically.
Fun fact: When Katniss sees for the first time Peeta on TV it was a genuine feeling. Jennifer really was missing Josh because they haven't seen each other for more than a month. They filmed the scene and she went running to the 9th or 10th floor and ran to hug him❤ This you can see behind the scenes (hug) and in a few interviews.
hey guys great commentary! I really like you take the time to actually express your thoughts and opinions, gives such good insight into a new perspective, and honestly so much fun having someone that actually knows the story and the lore explaining the missing bits that weren't in the movie. I'd definitely recommend watching the other YA dystopian sagas (like maze runner and divergent), but Hunger Games is definitely the best imo. But even Harry Potter (at the time) was a pleasant surprise as how much political commentary they managed to fit in there without becoming annoying or too much so I definitely recommend if you haven't seen it!
Wow thank you so much for your kind words!! You have no idea how much it means to us, truly! We have seen Divergent and Maze Runner but we may delve into a rewatch at some point, you never know! The commentary in Harry Potter was great!! It's always wonderful when sociopolitical commentary is handled so masterfully - instead of coming across as pedantic or insensitive, it's interwoven so smartly into the story, it helps everyone understand what is important!
The propaganda might look silly to us that never been in a real war. But during WWI and II this kind of propaganda was very common. For instance, the US had that poster of uncle Sam "I want you" during WWI. And Germany had plenty of commercials during WWII. Just two examples of real war propaganda. This kind of propaganda can also be found nowadays in Russia during the ukrainian invasion. War is a business and like any business it needs publicity.
This is so true!! Especially the part of your comment that war is a business - it's control and profit, and the agonizing part is that in war, nobody truly wins. Just like the Games.
The ongoing portrayals of PTSD, propaganda, and politics in these continues to amaze me every time I watch them. It's really sad to me that they get relegated to "Young Adult" fiction / teen movies when they have so much going for them, so much going on that is really complicated and complex and intricate and interesting, and reflect so much on our daily lives as we live them now. But it's also really cool to see reactors who thought they were like Twilight or something finally watch them and realize that they are more than just cute movies like the Divergent ones or something (which are trying really hard to be these and not doing it well, lol). I'm really loving the dynamic here where you have one person who's read both the books and watched the movies, and someone who knows neither, because it makes it a really interesting thing to watch your varying reactions! You have kind of the best of both worlds here, looking forward to the next one! Also I must admit that I'm super curious now about what y'all do otherwise that has you adding so much insight to how the movie making tricks are working here!
Once y’all finish the last movie, you need to react to the preview of the prequel that’s coming out! Ballard of Song birds and Snakes! So freaking good and gives great insight to what makes president Snow the way he is! The author did an amazing job of giving you moments that give more explanation to things that happen on the hunger games. I haven’t been this excited for a movie to come out in awhile!
10 years ago come this February , I was in an accident that left me lying in a hospital bed for months with steel rods coming out of my leg. I was immobilized and the damage to the artery in my leg was so severe that they didn't even know if they were going to be able to save it. I was scared, completely terrified, alone in this hospital bed. I was in more pain than I had even been in all of my life combined. I was so lost and ready to give up. But I couldn't. I had to keep fighting. One saying that became my mantra every single morning came from Finnick. Every single day, when the pain was so severe, when the anxiety threatened to swallow me whole, when the only thing I could think about was to just stop fighting to regain my mobility and just stay in a wheelchair for the rest of my life, I could hear him in my head. "It takes 10 times longer to put yourself back together than it does to fall apart". 10 years later, I am walking. Limping severely, needing a wheelchair if I am to walk more than a little bit, but I am walking. I didn't give up. It's crazy how a piece of media can help you through tough times.
Thank you so much for sharing your story with us. We’re happy to hear you were able to walk again. Truly touching how media can have such a huge impact on our lives and that during those rough times you were able to continue fighting and having the strength to do so.
As amazing as the start of the rebellion against President Snow was, it was strange to see Effie without all her flamboyance, when we see them in District 13. Effie's wardrobe, wigs and makeup would make a drag queen jealous, I swear.
About the moment you supposed Peeta was told his family was kept hostage, there was a cut scene that showed exactly that in fact, so well guessed! Funfact, originally they had wanted to finish this movie at the moment Peeta gets knocked out with the next movie starting with Coin's speech, but they were told it was too harsh a cliffhanger hence that last scene
Nice! I imagined as much. He looked way to concerned and nervous. Man these movies made me feel terrible for him. And yeah...that would've been such a hard cliffhanger to end the film with. I like that we still got the bleak tone but at least it felt conclusive in a way.
new subscriber here and thank you guys for your reactions....they really cheer me up. Im going through a rough patch and its people like you guys who make it a little bit easier to go through. Also, love your hair color Denise, I want that color😭
Awww girl!!! I'm so sorry to hear you're going through a rough patch. I've been there and one thing that has always helped me is the knowledge that nothing lasts - many attribute that to good things, but good news is the bad moments also don't last forever. You got this!! I'm so touched to hear that we can make your day even just a little bit better! This hair color was a tough one to get right because my natural color is a dark brown, but so much fun to use!! You should try it!! We can have matching hair colors 😁😁😁
Katniss is who Plutarch said she is. Traumatized and myopic (missing the forest for the trees) as she might be, her most outstanding traits always manage to come through: indignant rage. 😁
The Hanging Tree has so much more weight right now after the release of the prequel book. The significance of that song to Snow and how Katniss unconsciously used it in the revolution is just 🤌🤌
Peta said that Katniss was a mutt which tells me that he loved Katniss still, but didn't believe it was actually her. They must have spawned in loads of mutt Katnisses who attacked him and conditioned him to see Katniss, kill Katniss without considering that she could still be alive. P.S. Well done Denise for keeping your mouth shut and not spoiling the story, i.e. praising President Coin when the story calls for it, even though you know her true nature.
Mockingjay Part 1 & 2 movies move on from the games and into psychological & physical warfare. I think the reason Mockingjay is my favourite is because you see the consequences of the games, of all their actions. You see the choices Katniss has made has lead her to where she is. The same with President Snow, Peeta, Finnick, Plutarch etc each has had their own journey to make it this far & it has cost them all something dearly. I’m so glad the author didn’t shy away from the devastating, emotional trauma these characters have gone through. She showed all the horrific sides to the games, to war.
Yesss!!! 100% agreed with you on that! The exploration of the characters, their stories and choices is so nuanced and powerful, it's truly a gem! I love how Mockingjay Pt 1 and 2 delved further into the psychological toll everything has taken on everyone, in particular Katniss. Also love the realistic approach to PTSD, it truly resonates on an unprecedented level!
OMG... I love your reactions so much. I relatively new to your Channel, watched around 10, trying tô keep up. The First one been "La Sociedad de la nieve", love that film, love your reaction tô It, Ari, I cried a lot todo. Now, for these films (the hunger games), i'm rally enjoying these ones, Love the faces Denise are making at certains points, dying not to spoil Ari, jajajajaja , so cute. By the way, this is m'y second post ver. Sorry for the spelling. Greetings from Venezuela
I feel like this is such a clear warning about how our future could become if we aren’t careful and pay attention to the things going on around us right now.
Completely agreed! There are so many themes here that are so incredibly relevant to what is happening on a global scale - hopefully we learn from our mistakes!
Especially the restriction of energy & vehicles with no viable efficient alternative (the closest is nuclear), & the attempts to implement more food "alternatives" from lab grown to bugs.
These films are a lesson to the Divergent series on how to do it instead of the mess that those films ended up. Casting is everything it is the solid basis for the film and without it being right there is no way of winning. But these films benefit from superb scripts, excellent timing, incredible pacing and superlative filming. You get out of things what you put in to them. The Hunger Games series is a lesson in this that the Divergent series for me missed completely.
Yeah, it's honestly a shame what happened with the Divergent series. There was so much potential there and the story just turned so lackluster. I did thoroughly enjoy the first one, and the second one was fine as well, but the third one?! Yikes. The Hunger Games movies however have a much darker tone, which is more up my alley. I appreciate the mature and darker themes they delved into, and like you said, the casting in this is spectacular!
Thanks you guys! Gonna watch later with dinner! Not as good as catching fire but that's only a result of the split narrative which ultimately gives more time for story accuracy. Youll love how it wraps up!
Thank you soo much for your support!! We actually ended up loving this as well, especially the darker tone, but I also know that the splitting of the final book ruffled feathers with many! Regardless we had a great time!! Enjoy your dinner and have a nice evening, relaxing and watching our little old reaction!
18:10 "I'm happy you like it :3" There is nothing better than when your partner absolutely loves a film the way you do; my wife and I aren't on the same wavelengths all the time when it comes to movies or TV shows (unless its comedies because we love laughing till our stomachs hurt). so seeing y'all vibe to the movie and enjoy it all the same warms my heart
RE: the pimping out of the Victors if you remember when katniss and Peeta were entering the party at the beginning of catching fire that one guy touched Katniss's shoulder did you catch effie said to him 'not yet'... shudder
It’s horrible! And like the only reason Katniss and Peeta weren’t submitted to that fate is because they had each other and the star crossed lovers thing. They literally saved each other from a horrendous fate!
@@hana3703 literally, you could see it in the last movie when she was getting attacked by those Jabberjays, she was screaming and running to Peeta because he comforts her and calms her down. thats why in this movie, even tho Gale is literally there, she is dreaming about Peeta to calm her down🤭
@@OfficialMediaKnights Peeta actually means rock
Well, also, part of the point is how little value the rebellion is putting on individual human life, while Katniss actually cares about humans.
37:25 I love how he started hugging himself without even realizing it when Katniss shattered at the thought of having lost both peeta and gale
it doesnt matter how many times i have seen it, everytime i watch that scene with peeta when he warns katniss and district 13, i burst into tears every time🥺Peeta doesn't deserve ANY of this. he is so sweet and selfless and he always seems to get the worst of it
Oh my goodness, same!! What Peeta was put through is honestly devastating, especially considering he is so sensitive and such a person with hope - he did not deserve it. None of them did.
@@OfficialMediaKnights also, Josh Hutcherson's acting in this one (as well as the next movie)...chef's kiss. brought me to tears🥺
@@OfficialMediaKnights it is a great thing you don't make your living playing poker your face can not hide anything
@@OfficialMediaKnights Snow is honest if really listen to everything he says
Welp, I chose the life of an actor/filmmaker for a reason sooo 💅🏽💁🏽♀️
Holy crap, this comment made our day!!! You have no idea how much it means to us to read these kinds of comments, thank you!!
@@OfficialMediaKnights Can’t wait for your reaction to Part 2! Keep reacting to movies!!!
Finnick's wise words saved me from my depression and they are my life motto now. I'm not kidding.
When I read his line a few years ago when these books came out it struck me so deeply I would never forget it afterwards, it's engraved into my heart.
"It takes then times longer to put yourself back together than falling apart."
Thank you Finnick for saying that.
@@OfficialMediaKnights heck yes, 100%! I'm hugging you from afar and I hope you're doing great now. You are a strong one! 🩷💪🏼
That is the meaning of inner strength.”
Both of those help me through the dark times.
Haymitch was the only one who really knew Peeta's worth and im just happy that Katniss not only knows it, but is showing it as well
Yes I agree 100%!!!
Denise's expressions without Ari seeing are the best thing ever lol
I feel so bad for Katniss, you see her at the end watching Finnick and Annie and I have to wonder if she's thinking how this will be her and Peeta in a few moments... and then THAT happens😭😞
Gaaahhh you are so right!!! We felt so robbed of that sweet reunion we could have gotten, it was just so agonizing 😭😭😭
Omg yes so sad
Denise's faces is pure gold 😂
haha been doing my best 🤐😅
I’m here for the poker face shots hahaha she’s so funny
25:50 yeah there’s a deleted scene you can find on YT of Snow basically blackmailing Peeta with his family’s safety which breaks my heart because they were already gone 😢
Ahhhh nooo 😭😭😭 The depravity of Snow and the Capitol truly knows no limits. It's utterly devastating to even consider what was done to Peeta...
LOVING Denise's "If only you knew" side eye close-ups! Hahahaha!
Always remember Suzanne Collins was commissioned by Scholastic Books to write these books to teach middle school students about politics and war. The themes just become clearer as you go through the 3 books.
The way they dive into the commentary is absolutely brilliant! Saying a whole lot and still keeping it entertaining!
I love how Denise is always holding herself trying not to spoil it for him😂
her face everytime the guy predicts something kills me 😅
The hubs has no idea how much he made his wife incredibly happy to enjoy these movies with her.
Actually the dam scene is one I think I will never forget, it's so powerful.
Dude...the cut aways that zoom in on your expression whenever he expresses hope for those who ultimately die is so hilarious! 😂🤣😂
Every time she looks on the camera when he mentions Prim's future.......priceless.
This movie series NEVER disappoints! Absolutely loved your guys’s reaction ❤️❤️❤️
Really digging this franchise! Each movie has elevated the saga in its own way and I'm all here for it. Thank you so much for showing some love ❤️
I love all the zooms on Denise's face whenever Ari says something that isn't going to age well.
👏🏽💯💯
@@OfficialMediaKnightsYeah, Gale was slimy and manipulative, but it was the whole war criminal thing that really showed who he was.
Gale wasn't her cousin. That was the cover story the Capitol used to explain Gales presence in the life of Katniss
Congrats❤❤
Whooaaa thank you sooo much for your kind words, you have no idea how much it means to us!! Your support is everything ❤️❤️❤️
Plutarch totally played even Snow for a fool. That's impressive but also scary. 🥺
This was one of my favorite movies in this franchise, I really enjoyed your guys reactions and I love her little looks 👀 to the camera lol
I’m sorry, but I absolutely love it when he says ‘don’t you think I know your friends are in the tribute centre?’ Katniss thought she was playing Snow when it was the other way round
When Ari said that Prim was going to be a great doctor 😭 if he had read the books he would've known. My heart!
Gale was very unfair. He claimed that he would never say certain things, not even under the worst torture. That's straight bullsh*t. 😅
No confession, no word, no promise is worth anything if people say it while being under torture/under the worst pain.
Gale should know that, and the people of district 13 as well.
They already knew what the people of the capitol were capable of. So hating Peeta for saying what he said WHILE HE WAS PROBABLY HELD AT GUNPOINT is ridiculous.
Great, great reaction guys! ❤❤
I love watching this together with you.
Watching and discuss movies together with you feels like doing that with friends, and it's a beautiful part of my daily life now.
And her attitude is so funny and endearing at times!
@@OfficialMediaKnights mine too! 🤣🤣
You guys seriously deserve WAY more views, the Hunger Games reaction videos are a m a z i n g♥Can't wait for part 2, you are going to LOVE it♥
Finished watching part 2 and we’re so so excited to share that with all of you! This saga was fantastic! Thank you for showing some love ❤️
I love these movies sooo much and the reason I watch so many reactions is, because I wish I could rewatch them for the first time and you guys gave me that feeling! Thank you so much for that! ❤
I absolutely love your reactions to those movies and I am so happy to see, that you are completely into it 🔥
Can't wait for Part 2 🤩
Chillllls!!!!
darling, your facial expressions when you know what's coming are priceless!!!
I am new here but immediately subscribed! I don't know what sold me more, her facial expressions about future events that take place or his sudden realizations LOL I love it here.
Haha yeah her expressions were hilarious 😂
Honestly, ive watched so many people make fun of this movie and to see you pay such close attention and enjoy the film is incredible! Also, I really appreciate when the lady never spoil the fun for her friend that have not watch the film❤ this is so entertaining !! SUBSCRIBED
28:25
I couldn't imagine the courage to be willing run in to automatic weapons...
This film is so underrated! I can't believe how a story about war propaganda aimed to teens was the biggest blockbuster of 2014... those were the days
Hearing finnicks backstory just makes me replay every interaction finnick had in the movies.
i read the books in highschool a few years before the first movie came out. proceded to watch all the movies at the midnight release in the theatre by me. there was this middle age dude on the spectrum who was there every time being super vocal and cheering for hype moments. dude would be the first to cheer and then everyone would chime in.
I love when I watch reaction videos with intelligent conversations. Especially this story, there are so many layers to it.
I knew there was more to Finnick when I saw how much he obviously cared about Mags, even before the Quarter Quell started. Katniss was watching the same video, but as usual, she kind of missed that.
🤣🤣... luv how she looks at him, "I got a secret look" 😂😂😂
Finally someone who can see how fucked up Finnick's history was and how he turned those tables on Snow!! ❤❤❤
And ty!
@@OfficialMediaKnights I could not agree more.
Love your looks into the camera 😂 Like, we both know what is coming 😂
On the Catching Fire reaction, I mentioned how well cast the movie was. In Mockingjay, they add Mahershala Ali, Julianne Moore, Natalie Dormer, Patina Miller, and others. So well done.
Yeeesss!!! What an incredible cast!!! They all brought such incredible depth to their characters, even with limited screentime for some!
Just met you guys through this hunger games series… LOVING the content❤️ keep up with the good work✨
Awww thank you so much!! We are so glad you found us and are so appreciative of your support!! It means the world to us!
i love that with every yikes spoiler moment, i looked up at denise and denise was already looking back at me
just came across your guys' channel the other day. havent been able to stop watching your reactions theyre so good and entertaining!! you guys should react to the maze runner series. i think you guys would really like it!
If we can make your day even a little better then it is more than worth it to us ❤️
@@OfficialMediaKnights you absolutely do! very very thankful you are on here.
Absolutely agreed!! These movies never fail to get me emotional, it's just such an incredible story!
They filmed the scene and she went running to the 9th or 10th floor and ran to hug him❤
This you can see behind the scenes (hug) and in a few interviews.
It’s wild to watch the scenes where Katniss visits bombed-out District 12 and it’s LITERALLY what Palestine looks like right now. 😢
I love your faces when he says something about Prims future in all of these videos
Everyone goes back for the Cat.
From Alien to Hunger Games... lol.
hey guys great commentary!
The way she looks at the camera knowing what's coming and how he's gonna react. lol
Oh my gosh, the looks that Denise gives the camera make me laugh every time xD
We’re excited as well! We’ll definitely be covering the next movie on the channel 😄
38:39 "its the things we love most, that destroy us. I want you to remember that i said that." Chills every time
Knowing what’s to come that sadistic smile really hits. Such a great villain!
@@OfficialMediaKnights yup and thats why im afraid of Suzanne Collins 😂😂😂. Even what she did with Coin's character...
Literally Snow realized how much Katniss really loves Peeta and he used it against her… so awful!!!
Denise's expresions are everything XD
If you notice, when Finnick’s in the hospital in the beginning, he keeps rubbing his arms.
He tried to slit his wrists.
Don’t tell me these things! I already felt so bad for him during this. I like his character quite a lot and he’s been through hell
There is no evidence of that. In fact, he wouldn't kill himself as long as he can get Annie back. What he does do is tie nots. A lot
new subscriber here and thank you guys for your reactions....they really cheer me up.
Hi guys! Can't wait for part 2!!!
Part 2 is already underway!! Stay tuned!!
love triangles are so annoying. They have two hands. Let them all be happy together.
The Hanging Tree has so much more weight right now after the release of the prequel book. The significance of that song to Snow and how Katniss unconsciously used it in the revolution is just 🤌🤌
Can’t wait to see what they do with the movie when that comes out! 😃
32:25 probably my favorite line from the movies🥹🫶🏻
Peta said that Katniss was a mutt which tells me that he loved Katniss still, but didn't believe it was actually her. They must have spawned in loads of mutt Katnisses who attacked him and conditioned him to see Katniss, kill Katniss without considering that she could still be alive.
P.S. Well done Denise for keeping your mouth shut and not spoiling the story, i.e. praising President Coin when the story calls for it, even though you know her true nature.
Man I was waiting for this 👍
Glad we could deliver! Hope you enjoy it 😃
What a great series. Jennifer Lawrence so good
Mockingjay Part 1 & 2 movies move on from the games and into psychological & physical warfare.
Greetings from Venezuela
love you guys, you are amazing
I feel like this is such a clear warning about how our future could become if we aren’t careful and pay attention to the things going on around us right now.
Completely agreed! There are so many themes here that are so incredibly relevant to what is happening on a global scale - hopefully we learn from our mistakes!
Especially the restriction of energy & vehicles with no viable efficient alternative (the closest is nuclear), & the attempts to implement more food "alternatives" from lab grown to bugs.
I look forward to seeing yall watch Part 2....
We can’t wait to share it with all of you! Thank you for watching! ❤️
18:10 "I'm happy you like it :3"
There is nothing better than when your partner absolutely loves a film the way you do; my wife and I aren't on the same wavelengths all the time when it comes to movies or TV shows (unless its comedies because we love laughing till our stomachs hurt). so seeing y'all vibe to the movie and enjoy it all the same warms my heart
RE: the pimping out of the Victors if you remember when katniss and Peeta were entering the party at the beginning of catching fire that one guy touched Katniss's shoulder did you catch effie said to him 'not yet'... shudder
Ohhhh no way, you're right?! Gahh, it really just makes the hairs on the back of your neck stand up! The Capitol's violence knows no end...
It’s horrible! And like the only reason Katniss and Peeta weren’t submitted to that fate is because they had each other and the star crossed lovers thing. They literally saved each other from a horrendous fate!
