Those headers are one of the most beautiful pieces i have ever seen. Looks like there was easily 50 hours in them. Whoever built those deserves a freaking beer man. Absolutely beautiful work as always.

Stev Rex Yeah, but really, even Aston Martins right off the production line look somewhat tatty compared to F1 cars. Anything but a Maybach, a Delahaye, or a top of the line Bentley looks inferior.

Man to have the unlimited budget to build something like this and to want it just perfect , car porn at it's best amazing work ! this is really art

Andrew Schmidbauer I know, right! But...I've been getting very discouraged lately seeing cars that a typical everyday guy (like me) will likely never even see one of in real life, let alone ever have one. A 55 chevy has been my dream car since 2LBT, and I have a 69 camaro that I've had for...30 years now. It is literally in as many pieces as it could possibly be in (a bare shell on 4 -35 gallon steel drums), and has been for the past 15 years. Seems like I'm always short on time AND money, and always will be. If we have the money, we can make the time (we like to imagine, or, we could pay someone else), but if we have the time, we usually don't have the money! Cars like these take a lot of both.

@@rickshaw6198 You could buy a retro modded Tri-five for 30 to 50 grand. Not like the video of course but nice. Not saying that's cheap but you don't have to be cheap for it.

elijahcbr 600 his fab work is ALWAYS works of art.....I always see people bitching how expensive his builds are...and how "they can" build 1000hp car for way less and blah, blah, blah.....but they are so ignorant...they overlook all the amazing custom fab work, all the suspension and drive train mods....ALL the engineering that goes into each build...which is why is 1000hp plus cars can be driven everyday like they were bone stock.....and then be romped on, beaten, and run to the limits....anytime you want...and they wont break down all the time...they dont rattle....just 100% engineered perfection....

The true car guy hits all the little details...you guy's are making this a true car guy's dream...not only building a power house but putting it together in a sweet body style that just makes it a sleeper and a driver...and then BAM...slaps the punks in the face when it just walks away from them when they think they have done a hotrod...LOL! Best of both worlds..NICE!

    Hey Tom!
Awesome job on the work for the background of what looks like it's going to be an amazing car! I love the attention to detail that you and the guys pay to things like following the frame rails with those stainless headers and making modifications to the Roadster Shop chassis for ease of transmission removal. It's another great video and a Super Car project from Nelson!
I wish more of my projects in the shop here looked like the work you do there. I'm retooling the floors in my Chevelle as I go back to an automatic from the butcher job a previous owner did using a torch to cut and weld the opening when they stuffed in the 4 speed. I went to a lot of trouble cleaning up and doing all the related things right on the 4 speed with the floor as the exception. Now that I decided to go back to an automatic (which is what the car had originally) repairing the floors was important to me. The stuff I removed looks like some of those body panels you cleaned up on your project. I made up my own floor panel with a little extra thickness to help in the case of an exploding transmission. I sure wish I had more of the tools you are able to employ. My work is more on the improvised side of things, but produces some reasonable results.
Another great video Tom and it always motivates me to push my projects to a higher level when I see what you're doing!
I'm building a new short block that has stronger internals for my Vortech Blower project. As I started to look into larger bore and stroke combinations I began to see some ups and downs related to longevity and the speed of pistons. They say that with all the various big bore and stroke combos you can end up assembling engines that don't have a long life. I'm curious if you have taken the speed of the pistons into account for some of your builds. I have noticed that you stick to certain sizes like the 572.
I decided to stay on the smaller side of things for now. Just building a good strong forged 496 with flat tops. Using a good factory 4 bolt block and the forged 4.250 stroker crank with some forged "H" Rods good to 1500 HP and plan to keep this engine at or below 1200 hp. With it being both a street and strip car (that has A/C) running fuel injection I felt moving back to an automatic would improve drivability and actually get me faster times at the track. The clutch has been the weakest link in my 4 speed setup. Even after going to a dual disk setup at a cost of $1000, the car still had a hard time getting off the line and was already eating up that expensive new clutch in short order. Plus it was starting to chatter worse around town on the street.
Speakers holes with your teeth actually sounds better than a transmission tunnel opening with a torch! LOL :-P

572 is an amazing motor! I have a ZZ502 in my 69 Chevelle with a TH400 (a stall, high volume pump, and deep pan to take it) and tubular suspension. Mine is a daily "street car" and I am either going to run a Pro Charger (D-1SC or F-1R) or a Nelson Alien intake and can kit...gaining 50-95% more horsepower with simple bolt on goes to show how far technology has come. Tom has it dialed and not to many people know what he makes
