I used to watch that movie alot as a kid. a few years ago I fell in love with the movie two lane blacktop and the 55 in that movie and later I found out that was the exact same car used in American graffiti. unbelievable lol.

The 1936 Delahaye coupe nicknamed "Whatthehaye" uses a Viper V10, however Boyd's last build, a 1938 Delahaye convertible called "The French Connection" has a 12.8l BPM V12 in it. If anyone was wondering.
This car (in black and white) is my dream car. I was in the back seat and was launched into the dashboard when my mom ran into a garbage truck. That car really impressed me.
a big part of an automobile in making it original is the tires. Firestones or General tire I forgot which was the stock choice in 1955. I wish he would have used the original rims and tires (not original tires, that would be very difficult to keep well without constantly surveillance and adjustment since 1955, its the early life that saves the later life).
The sound! Rolling stock of this generation brings many of us 'ol guys back to youthful dreams we once had of maybe sometime owning one of these deep-throated glass or maybe even steel-packed lady (being PC here) magnets. Thanks, Jay.

This is what happens in the long cold Minnesota winters. But it is a beautiful, very subtle build, any the V-12 looks great under the hood as well as the suicide doors. And it shows that not all Hot Rodders are in Southern California. Thanks Jay and Gary.
Perfect colour combo, mean engine, tasteful mods that don't look out of place. This is my type of restomod. Only thing I'd probably change is modify the original wheels to be wide enough and put the beautiful original hubcaps on to REALLY make it look untouched
Now I criticized last week's entry, the Cadillac ATS-V with the 1940s bodykit stuck on, and went on a whole spiel about how/much I disliked most restomods, but man oh man, that thing is heavenly. I absolutely love aero-engine, quite frankly inspired re-imagining of a Belair. A work of art - and can pass for "stock". What a work of art..
My dad used to occasionally bring home this car from work (it was a company car) when we lived in Tucson, Arizona in the late 1950's. It had a "three on the tree" manual transmission. I remember going to drive in movies in it.
Thank you Jay Leno for presenting a different car every Monday morning for so many years. Thank you Gary Kollofski for sharing your 1955 Chevy - Wow! - a V-12 Italian motor, the water pump in the radiator, the headers, the brake booster, the stock looking dash, the colors, the doors, the front-end lift, the bench seat interior, etc., etc. Surely one can see that the build is pretty incredible. I don’t understand why some of the comments I have read seem so mean spirited. Does one say such things to someone one has never met? Seems very sad. I hope they will apologize.
I think I was a "Second Class" Boy Scout in 1963 and there was a scout show. It was a craft show. I'm not sure if they were Eagle Scouts (they wore dark green uniforms) and they took a '57 Bel Aire and modified that baby and painted it a "scout green" along with the BSA insignia on each of the two doors. They'd turn that engine over and gun it and you could hear that engine rev a good 1000 feet away (from one end of the venue to the other). I loved that car.
Jay such a good guy. Helping with the running problem with the fuel. Those aren't always easy to diagnose. Definitely easier when one is the one driving.
How can you build a beast car, and then be chicken to even barely get into the throttle? Jay just barely touched the throttle and the owner freaked out...
Owner comes off as a jabroni. The type that pulls up a lawnchair at car shows and sits infront of his car waiting for people to lecture the public about his build
Jay drives his stuff no matter how old, and expects it to work flawlessly. After it conked out at the stoplight, Jay started having issues with it. "You think you're a little over-carburated?" "Pardon??" I don't think the owner quite freaked out, but his touching the throttle was obviously a big deal. As if Jay couldn't afford to fix the guy's car after breaking it for him, haha. I think the expression would be "More show than go".

The car is begging to be driven harder. Needs to be fine tuned by being driven and tested more. It's a nice build, but not being used to its potential.
Gawd, Jay is an expert. I love the guy. It's also cool of the Math Teacher to bring it on the show, he knows Jay is going to drive it. I thought the owner was very cool about Jay talking about it being over-carbed.
I just can't wrap my head around having this in the garage and not driving the wheels off of it! I mean to each his own what he choses to do with it is his to decide but wow!

Yep, was like What?? In California...by the ocean...with a marine engine and every type of shop know to man, and you can't find any place to fix it?
You can't find San Francisco or Oakland in Southern California!
If you cant find ANYONE who will/wants to work on a classic chevy (no matter what engine is in it) in SoCal.. your not looking hard enough
yeah, if you're looking to fix your restomod southern california is the place.
I spent a couple months in South Carolina and missed all the California shops like Superior Automotive.in Anaheim
Jay Leno is a "REAL" car guy... love it
Jay you're a car artist. Thanks for letting us appreciate the engineering.
You can tell Jay was disappointed that this dude doesnt drive the car.
DJ MotoVlogs he doesn't want Jay to "break" it either.

or just buy it
Dudes a schmuck like his car is worth soooooo much...not. restmodded BelAir. There's thousands out there
RIGHT I M sure he could get it tuned too
I think its because it took 4 years to build it only for jay to break it and then wait more for it to be repaired

arvidsojj dang
You serious?
Well..he needs schooling in air fuel ratio
Sorry to hear that lol
This is just seriously cool!
10 miles a gallon is not bad at all considering it's freaking 750 cubes lol
James Avery my 1991 suburban gets 15 on a good day lol and it's only 350 CI.
he did but that seems way too much lol. An abrams tank gets 0.6 miles per gallon and it don't get much worse than that
James Avery it's called sarcasm.
How the hell do we know ? There's some real retards out there lol
And it's running rich
You know he was the coolest math teacher ever
Nowhere to fix it in SoCal? Are you kidding me?
His savings went on the project, put a Chevy engine, lol or make it amphibian lol
That sound is a reminder of youth. My buddy had one of those.
