Say what you may about her films/ tv projects but there is simply no denying that Nicole Kidman has been & still is a risk taker through out her career. I think the films/ tv mentioned in this interview is just a fraction of the many various projects / characters that she has portrayed & the many Directors that she has sought to work with.

The problem with The Others is that it came AFTER Sixth Sense. No Sixth Sense: The Others' huge plot twist would have blown our minds. But on the other hand, no maybe Sixth Sense would have meant no The Others either.

I always feel general love for Nicole Kidman when I see her today because it's like she has followed my life, being there from my early teens/teens in Days Of Thunder, Malice and To Die For (which was part of my wanking-list that I got from anything that turned me on). And When Moulin Rouge came out, I bought the DVD as a present for my little sister that was 10 yo Christmas 2001, and she watched it and loved it,,sang all the songs, and it effected her massively! The Others, Eyes Wide Shut, The Northman and so many. She is more busy than most. Love her!

Although I like many of her lighter, even comedic films, I feel she really becomes something almost otherworldly in roles which require her to fully lose herself in a complicated & challenging character. I so wish she’d been asked about Dead Calm ( 1989 ) The Portrait of a Lady ( 1996 ) & Birth ( 2003 ) as these are three of my personal favourites.

Aussie here. I'm sure your American subscribers would have appreciated the chance to see her talk about her early Australian films like Dead Calm, which co-starred Sam Neill. She was only 21 then, just getting started and still had a fully Australian accent instead of the hybrid she has now.
That was the first film I saw of hers! A funny story: A cousin of mine was selling tickets for that film to get funds for her graduation, so my mum bought a pair and took me with her to the cinema, but I was a kid! LOL, so first of all, how did they let me in, and second of all, to watch 'that scene' with my mum! Eeek! Hahahaha, anyway, I fell in love with Nicole just right and there. One of my favourite actors ever until this day.

My personal favorite of hers is the character of Queen Gudrún in The Northman. She brought such a depth to it that fellow actor Alexander Skarsgård can also be grateful. All their scenes were very suggestive. But the absolute winner in The Hours is Virginia Woolf's character.
I would have loved to have Nicole talk about Dead Calm but also the two Kennedy-Miller miniseries (Vietnam and Bangkok Hilton) she did in Australia in the late eighties. My stepfather’s cousin played one of the main characters in Bangkok Hilton and he only ever had great things to say about Nicole.
Her role in that alien body snatcher type movie was great, LION, Australia …. Other movies she’s done weren’t even mentioned probably the time limit but we need part 2!
To Die For remains her best performance for me, along with Moulin Rogue (but that is more due to the spectacle and wonderful music). It's also interesting to see after living in the USA for so many years, her Aussie accents sometimes radically shifts into a pure American accent. Moulin Rouge was really good; I loved Practical Magic and I want to rewatch it now! I completely forgot that she was in The Others; need to rewatch again! I want to see The Perfect Couple; it looks good!
I've admired and lusted for Nicole since Dead Calm. I used to have her BMX series on cd. She's this exquisite beauty. Then there's her acting ability and her enjoyment of delving into some fantastic characters. Finally, she wants to understand the business of creating. I also respect her depth of family, be it blood or not. She loves and loves well.
She has one of the few most diverse filmographies of all actresses I know, dead or alive. I still maintain that The Hours is to me ranks in the echelon of the greatest films ever made. Her screen time, even though the shortest of the three actresses, is so riveting as if her presence always adds a deeper layer to the story.
I wish they included the movies 'Birth' and 'The Paperboy.' Both are completely different films, and in my opinion, they're Kidman's top best performances. I think her performance in 'The Paperboy' is her top best performance. It's one of those times where I saw Nicole Kidman, but I was watching her character Charlotte Bless. It's an extraordinary performance. Her performance in 'Birth' is flawless. It's one of my favorite films. It's sadly underrated and misunderstood. I am happy they included 'Dogville.' Another amazing film! When it first came out in 2003, I wasn't sure if I liked it or not. Mainly cause, I didn't know the setting of the story was like a stage play, and the performances seemed unearthly. I remember giving it credit for its experimental approach. 21 years later, I love it. It's a masterpiece! I wish Lars was able to complete the trilogy.

My personal favorite of hers is the character of Queen Gudrún in The Northman. She brought such a depth to it that fellow actor Alexander Skarsgård can also be grateful. All their scenes were very suggestive. But the absolute winner in The Hours is Virginia Woolf's character.
Nicole Kidman is hypnotizing. Ha. "We" "Us" etc. Shows how the Collaborate Effort-working together is imperative.
I would have loved to have Nicole talk about Dead Calm but also the two Kennedy-Miller miniseries (Vietnam and Bangkok Hilton) she did in Australia in the late eighties. My stepfather’s cousin played one of the main characters in Bangkok Hilton and he only ever had great things to say about Nicole.
Her role in that alien body snatcher type movie was great, LION, Australia …. Other movies she’s done weren’t even mentioned probably the time limit but we need part 2!
To Die For remains her best performance for me, along with Moulin Rogue (but that is more due to the spectacle and wonderful music). It's also interesting to see after living in the USA for so many years, her Aussie accents sometimes radically shifts into a pure American accent. Moulin Rouge was really good; I loved Practical Magic and I want to rewatch it now! I completely forgot that she was in The Others; need to rewatch again! I want to see The Perfect Couple; it looks good!

Then there's her acting ability and her enjoyment of delving into some fantastic characters. Finally, she wants to understand the business of creating.
I also respect her depth of family, be it blood or not. She loves and loves well.
She has one of the few most diverse filmographies of all actresses I know, dead or alive. I still maintain that The Hours is to me ranks in the echelon of the greatest films ever made. Her screen time, even though the shortest of the three actresses, is so riveting as if her presence always adds a deeper layer to the story.

Both are completely different films, and in my opinion, they're Kidman's top best performances. I think her performance in 'The Paperboy' is her top best performance. It's one of those times where I saw Nicole Kidman, but I was watching her character Charlotte Bless. It's an extraordinary performance.
Her performance in 'Birth' is flawless. It's one of my favorite films. It's sadly underrated and misunderstood.
I am happy they included 'Dogville.' Another amazing film! When it first came out in 2003, I wasn't sure if I liked it or not. Mainly cause, I didn't know the setting of the story was like a stage play, and the performances seemed unearthly. I remember giving it credit for its experimental approach. 21 years later, I love it. It's a masterpiece! I wish Lars was able to complete the trilogy.
