Berserk (1997) Review | An Anime Classic

- Berserk the 1997 Anime might not hold up today as a great adaption of the manga. However, in its own way, the anime can stand of on its own. How? I look back and review this classic anime to answer that very question.

The music is so insanely touching too. Cant help but tear up at certain scenes.

Hmmm, idk if the 1st episode should be skipped. It does stick out like a sore thumb but i believe it sets the tone for the rest of the series. Sure, it might spoil what happens later on its suppose to be spoiled. Fits into the whole theme about fate. Also, a surprising amount of people i know kinda forget the details of the first episode, so it kinda doesn’t get spoiled lol. Oh btw cool accent. What is it?
I love the doom the 1st Episode invokes. It sort of makes all the happy and light hearted moments more bitter-sweet in a good way.
The first episodes like the first chapter… it’s not really within the original idea of the berserk plot but it is a splice of time within the plot that draws people into the world and vibe

I'll have to rewatch the three movies, but I'm almost positive they skip many of the moments from the manga, including the 100 man fight. This moment is critical to Guts and Caska's relationship. I believe the movie also skips Caska's flashback. It makes it less obvious that Guts and Caska like each other and fast tracks everything too much in my opinion. This is why the 97 anime was better in my opinion. By the way, golden age arc in the manga never really had any hints of fantasy elements until Zodd, either. So... 97 is literally the closest to the manga as far as I've seen. I'll have to rewatch the movies to be sure. Still, I really love to see more videos on Berserk. You did a wonderful job. Thanks for making content.

i personally didnt enjoy any anime adaptation for Berserk. But the 1997 adaptation was worth watching. not even close to be as good as the manga, but still good.
