May I, Firstly, A very very Thanks To Julia. My own Coach. I’m studing with my Tab and only. Because of Julia, I have no one fear. I’m a Beginner Ice-Dancer. When I make a spring roll, I put down my leg and foot then I make a Pivot finished with a spin . And I don’t have to pick toe one ice to Pivot.
This is an outstanding tutorial!!! Please make more for the canasta tango and the rhythm blues! Thank you so much for these wonderfully helpful videos!
Awesome tutorial! I passed The Dutch Waltz test at age 52 so that I could compete in Theatre On Ice as an adult team member of Virginia Ice Theatre. With only minimal skating experience I found learning the dance steps challenging but so much fun!
Thank u for sharing your experience Julie. I am a beginner in my 50s. I find even the most basic skills challenging., There r times when I think "what am I trying to do here?". But I enjoy being on the ice so much, so I keep at it. It is encouraging to read about your experience although I have no aspiration to compete 😄
I can do everything you both teach me . I don’t need so much job to put up my leg on front of me. I can do it because of hockey men and it’s simply for me. May we have more steps of ice-dance oh so please with so much pleasure. Carine
Thank you Julia. Your tutorials are really good and have inspired me to go back skating as soon as the rinks reopen. Yes i would love to see more ice dance.
Thank you so much for this video, sadly I could never afford having f. skating lessons and now that I've finally bought synthetic ice I appreciate these videos so much it's like having a tutor right by my side, you're amazing for doing that, have a great day coach :)
Oh, I am so glad to know that my instruction is helping you! Congrats on your synthetic ice investment. Must be amazing to have access to 'Ice' when you want it.
I absolutely love your videos!!! So happy I came across! Your coach seems to be a lovely humble lady. Could you do a video with these steps but backward, please!!!
Thank you so much, Julia and Jane, I really enjoyed your excellent video. This is the best ice dance video I have seen, you made the steps to the Dutch Waltz so clear and easy to learn. I look forward to more ice dance videos in the future.
Me and my dance partner going to learn the Dutch waltz on Friday morning, not looking forward to the 3am wake up but excited to learn our first pattern after 5 weeks of learning skating together as one 😍. I highly recommend ice dancing and yes please more ice dancing video please and thank you!
Yes I would like to learn more ice dance! I feel like I've mostly got the Dutch waltz steps memorized, but my rhythm is questionable without music. I'm also interested in The canasta tango and The Rhythm Blues.
Hi Coaches, love these patterns, nice and easy enough for us older people... Does the partner skate the same figure on either side? ...maybe in the next video
I am glad you enjoyed this! The partner can skate these patterns side by side with a 'Killian' arm hold. With one hand on the hip/waist, the other hand extended to the side holding hands. We will go over some of those hand hold positions in future videos!
I am always watching your videos to improve my skating, and wondering if you could PLEASE do backward swing rolls?? This new skater would be forever grateful!
Hey! Thanks for joining my channel. Just seeing this comment, did you see my video about backward swing rolls I made a few months ago?? ua-cam.com/video/Z3G3ayYfc6g/v-deo.html
At last a tutorial for progressives. During the 'feet in a box' part, are both feet on the ice for the progressive? Would appreciate a bit more of a breakdown for this move.
Thank you so much. I have been searching for a tutorial on progressives for ages. Please could you let me know if the free foot comes down on the ice as soon as it comes next to the skating foot after the first push?
@@CoachJulia Coach Julia has been skating (first on roller and then on ice) for over 30 years. She was a competitive skater until she turned 21 when she got her first contract as a professional show skater. Julia has been a figure skating coach for 15 years, is a USFS Gold Medalist in Moves in the Field, and an ISI Gold Level certified judge. She has held positions as the Skating Director of the largest skating program in the United States, as well as Head Coach at two different skating clubs. Julia has now turned her skills towards a larger audience and is bringing her love and knowledge of skating to all of you!
Hi Dima, that last ‘chapter’ in the video description is actually all about myself. ☺️ Jayne is an incredible coach and has achieved quite a lot, but that bio in the end of all my video descriptions is about myself. Thanks for watching and reading!!
Hello Julia. Id love to see steps for the bronze and pre silver dances too. And are there still rinks that offer actual ice dancing sessions maybe on club ice in Southern California?
But WHERE can I learn dance? 25 years ago I was part of an ice dance club at an ice rink where you could go twice a week and learn skills and dances. These days, I cannot find an ice rink with an adult dance program at all, anywhere. Any advice other than watching UA-cam videos? That only goes so far. A person needs a partner!
Your local rink likely offers group skating lessons, which you can join and progress into the ice dance discipline - and then join your skating club - ice dance lessons are where I am at the moment, morning lessons at most rinks tend to be mixed ages, so there are kids as well but I'm not the only adult. They also do have an adult only class in the evening 😊 Then through the skating club you can find dance partners 😊
Oh yes please for more ice dance......I’m actually learning the Dutch waltz, novice foxtrot and just beginning steps of the canasta tango.
Oooh fun! Ice Dance is a great challenge.

Wonderful breakdown and explanation! Would love to see waltz 8 tutorial someday, too. 🙂

These moves are so lovely, smooth and elegant, when I try to this my half circles are so irregular 😅💙⛸
Just keep practicing, everything in skating improves with practice. 😊

You have an error in the video description. In the end, Julia and Jayne were mixed.
Huh, not sure what you mean. Are you referring to subtitles? Those are auto generated.

Time to bust my butt, cus I HAVE to try these
You can do it!
Chassé, not châssé. Please Google the correct pronunciation.
Oh my word. I have been in ballet, ballroom, Tap, Ice dancing, etc since I was 3 years old. My pronunciation is fine.
Thank you for sharing your knowledge, wish we had an ice dance academy here.. Looking forward to more ice dancing instructions 💙💙💙⛸⛸💙💙💙
More to come!
