Amazing video. Just bought a full replacement card and swapped it easy. Didn’t need to go past 3 minutes. Thank you so much for showing the people how to do this!
Still helping years later, thank you- you rule!!!
Had my Macbook Pro 2012 since launch, the wifi started to intermittently drop a few times an hour last week. PRAM reset would bring it back but then it would drop again. Took it to Apple store and they said it would either be the WIFI AirPort card or the logic board. Parts and labour for the AirPort card was going to be £150, if it was the logic board it would be £300. Bought a replacement AirPort card on iFixit for £40 and with your video fitted it in minutes. WIFI is working again and stable. Thanks for putting this together!
Thank you, vary intuitive, easy to follow, and now my macbook pro wifi is working Thank you again.
thank you so much have been using a usb adapter for wifi for about months and now i used a old macbook to replace the wifi card

Thank you so much man! This saved me a lot of pain and money.
Glad to help!
Thanks so much! I did exactly as you say in the video and I did it! Finally it works!!! Thanks sooooooo very much!!!!!!!!!
If I do this do you know if I can Auto Unlock with my iwatch?
Thanks helped me locate a loose wire that was keeping the wifi from working.
can you upgrade the wifi to a card that has 1000mbps capability??
my macbook pro mid 2012 wifi not working when go away from my router, I mean to say my laptop wifi working when my laptop be near 2-5 meter to router only,, how i solve this? Is it hardware or Driver issue?
Thank you very very much! I replaced it and after I rebooted my MacBook Pro it recognized Wi-Fi networks instantly. Before it would say "No Hardware Installed". I'll keep an eye on it for the next days, but thank you very much!
Glad to help.
Unfortunatelly it stoped working after some hours. At first the connectivity went down, then I couldn't find any network, and after rebooting, the message of No Hardware Installed came back. Oh well... :/
If you have a HDD MacBook pro (disk drive) the bottom cover can pinch the WiFi cable thus requiring a replacement. Note: if your feet on you MacBook pro came off, replace them to prevent the bottom cover pinching the cable again. I had the same problem, now mine's works perfectly. Hope this helps.
Got mine fixed! Thank you!
For wath is the longest cable? accidentally a broked and i´m trying to find in internet but idk how to search it and only find the 3 that came from the board in the screen
I don't understand how this works. I popped off the wifi cable and now it does not stick back. I didn't go any further. As well as the battery connection to remove doesn't budge one bit. Not sure what's going on.
I ripped out my speaker cable and eyesight cable trying to get them out. Maybe you should have elaborated on those.
Funnily i got as far as getting out the wifi card then realised i dont even have the correct replacement
good video, made things easier!
Glad to help!
I did that. Mi Mac starts but I can't clic. Cursor mover when I use The trackpad but I can't clic. Any help?
This helped, thanks so much 👍🏽
Very helpful, thank you very much Sir

I'm having trouble with my current Bluetooth 4.0 card, it keeps disconnecting from headphones and speakers. Would the best option to replace it with a Bluetooth 4.2 card, or do you think it may be something else?
mine's clipping the sound over BT connection, it's still on its stock BT4.0 and I'm also looking for an upgrade other than a USB adapter that takes one port away.
My wi-fi still works but my wireless printing has slowed down significantly when I use the MacBook to create it’s own wi fi network to print from an iPad… it used to work very well before. Does replacing the card or cable sound like it would resolve this issue?
It's possible. I would research the subject extensively before swapping out hardware.
My wifi flex cable is broken and head is left in board socket. How we can remove it from motherboard before buying new cable. Please let me know.
Needle and careful prying.
thank you very much!!!
Glad to help
no goofy time wasting unboxing intro or goofy background music with no talking. 👍
Supposedly, AirPort card is connected via mini PCI E slot, but I do not see it anywhere?
No, everything is proprietary no pci-e slots in macbook pros.
How many have replaced the cable rather than the card? Replacing the card didn't work for me.
That’s what I’m doing now... dug this out to use as a music station, added 16gb of ram (the stock 4 even throttles the gpu, recommend adding at least 8) and after cleaning the fan and poking around a bit I get the “no hardware installed” thing.
Anyways I ordered the cable and am hoping it’s that before I replace the actual WiFi card. They look really brittle and I did unplug it.
Thanku sir
Whats the difference between the two cards? 661-5867 vs 661-6510
Apples manufacture plant.
Thank you!
You're welcome!
receiving a ‘bluetooth: not available’ and unable to connect to wifi.
any solutions?
you resolved it?
Is the wifi card in that model a normal m.2 one? Does that model have the independent bluetooth part?
Both the Bluetooth and WiFi are in the same module.
@@GRIBSOFT I know that. My question was if the card itself is m.2 or some propietary Apple format? And if that model have the connector that older (Atheros-based) models had where you plugged in a bluetooth card separate from the wifi card?
@@Ptero4 the unibody macbook pros all use proprietary apple airport cards.
unlike any other laptop that uses an mSATA port.
the unibody macbook pro's airport card contains both wifi and bluetooth antennas
and no, you can't upgrade or replace it with any other wifi card, only with the same apple airport card or with the older airport with bluetooth 2.1+EDR airport card from the 2011 macbook pro
i just bought a new card and cable, i really hope this fixes my problems
Let us know.
What problem were you having
@WeathreeBros how much will it cost for A new wifi card??
Aaaaaahhh I can’t remove the WiFi antenna cable ‘!! I’m scared to break it!! What is the technique? How do you pull it out?? You pull from the black cable or pull from the metal piece ? Helpppppp!!
First you peal back the black tape on the left side, then once you have access to the cable you just pop it up out of it's socket on each side :)
@@GRIBSOFT I decided to first check if replacing the wifi cable solved the wifi problem before replacing the card.. and it did. So I didn't have to remove the card in the end. Thanks anyways :)
Can I upgrade the WiFi card for the 13 inch mid 2012 model?
up ?
Yeah, update a card for 5 Ghz, not only 2,4Ghz; could i make this update?
¡Thanks!
Is it possible to replace the wifi in this laptop with an upgraded wifi card 802.11ac/ax? Would that work?
So did you, does it work?
@@deablero These guys didn't reply back but from what I found out it doesn't.
I replaced the wifi card! it worked for a little bit but then started to turn off again! any recomendations?
Thanks a lot!
Replace the wifi cable, also check out this video: ua-cam.com/video/pwaz8Mf47Ls/v-deo.html
Do you have a 2013 logic board replacement? Also a sku number for the one I need for a 2013. My computer is charged but won’t start and was freezing and static like then beeping with black screen. I’m assuming it’s the logic board. Arg the Mac is not even two years old. I bought it new too. 😭
What year and size is it exactly? You can look it up here checkcoverage.apple.com/us/en/?sn= let me know and i'll find you a cheap replacement on ebay.
Save Apple Dollars I gues it’s a mid 2012 so Thai video would be good right? Yeah let me know where I can buy an good priced one. Thank you so much.
I must know the exact size and the exact year, watch this video on how to find out www.appledollars.com/identify-mac and ill help you find the part.
Save Apple Dollars I looked up my serial number on Apple and it said mid 2012 year. It’s a 13” and I bought it in 2015. It’s a MacBook Pro.
You can get them as low as $370 on ebay but I would opt out for getting one from iFixit as they are a trustworthy name, here for $399 www.ifixit.com/Store/Mac/MacBook-Pro-13-Inch-Unibody-Mid-2012-2-5-GHz-Logic-Board/IF163-044-1
i had the problem that my macbook didnt start anymore, no reaction at all. Authorised Reseller told me it would cost 500€ and the problem was with the bluetooth card. So i just replaced it myself but it still does not start. But i think it was worth the try (only 40€)
Try a different charger.
Can you change the airport card for an 802.11ac signal?
I don't believe so and if someone has done it, it's very expensive. Your best option is a USB AC card www.amazon.com/OURLINK-600Mbps-802-11ac-Wireless-10-6-10-12-4/dp/B018TX8IDA/ref=sr_1_1?s=pc&ie=UTF8&qid=1502122903&sr=1-1&refinements=p_n_feature_keywords_browse-bin%3A2883736011
Thank you very much for this useful video. I replaced mine and booted back up, had a black screen. Finally was able to reset the PRAM (or whatever it's called these days) and reboot but still black screen. Also did the Control+Option+Shift+Power Button trick but that didn't work either.
Do you have any advice? I'll definitely be making a donation nonetheless and wish I had heard about your website before as I've done some other things to my old MB Pro that some other vids weren't as good explaining things.
Never mind. Was able to restart in safe mode, although I did that before. Then reset the System Management Controller (Shift, Control, Option+Power, same time then release then reboot as norma).
Unfortunately this did not fix my wifi issue so I guess the cable is bad - FUDGE!!!
Could be the cable or the connector on the wifi card or the logic board or the wifi card it self. I would start with the cable but in one shot you cab purchase the whole deal for $15 www.ebay.com/itm/MacBook-Pro-15-A1286-2011-2012-Airport-Bluetooth-WiFi-Card-w-cable-821-1311-/262048130010?hash=item3d034923da:g:f8oAAOSwFnFV9i0u
Struggling to get the iSight/speaker cables out, any tips? They are really pushed in there.
Edit: found out it’s not the wifi card that’s the issue, it’s the wifi to logic board cable that’s damaged. This tutorial was definitely a big help though!
Would replacing the card fix the "Bluetooth not available" error? I tried resetting the SMC & PRAM but nothing works and the bluetooth is completely gone on my A1278.
you resolved it?
@@PatrykOJ yes I did. I ended up buying a Bluetooth USB dongle on Amazon for $14. Once I plugge it in my Bluetooth came back... Then a few weeks later I had the dongle unplugged and realized that the internal bluetooth was working again lol.
thanks sir.India
Welcome, USA.
What if I replaced my wifi card with a new one and it still doesn't find WIFI. I can see my bluetooth and it ethernet works but WIFI does not connect no matter what I try. If anyone knows what could be next that'll be greatly appreciated. Thank you!
First make sure it's no the wifi router that's the issue, do this by going somewhere else and conncting to a different wifi. Next it's possible that the card that you got could be bad, and finanly and most likely it's the cable that connects the wifi card to the logic board that needs to be replaced. Watch our wifi repair video, that should help.
10 screws
That's definitely not an a normal M-pcie wifi card.
