LISTENING TO THE PATIENT! What a concept! This is so key. In the 80's I had ear pain and diffulty hearing. My HMO and my dentist kept pointing fingers at eachother. An ENT who didn't know how to listen insisted it was all stress. Then I met an ENT who listened and actually looked in my ears. "I think your swollen eustachian tubes could be the problem." He listened, identified the source and changed my life very much for the better!
Medical professionals can change lives dramatically just by LISTENING to their patients! Thank you for letting me rant.

This is so true!! I have had my pain dismissed, mis diagnosed and made worse by clinicians who didn't listen to me. I Finally found one who actually listened to me, gave me a correct diagnoses - then treated the issue ( SI joint injury) and I am finally better! Thank you for having Dr Lowe on- I wish all my previous clinicians could hear this!

    🙏🙏🙏 AMEN !!! 🙏🙏🙏
Bob & Brad, what I've primarily learned from you both :
Less movement EQUALS less ability to move (and that does
not make the pain go away ) - may even make the pain worse.
You obviously "hear" what your clients say. And all you are
teaching us is so valuable. Thank you for caring. 🙏💖 👍👍

Low carb, lost 35 pounds . This helped immensely with my chronic pain that doctors could give me no answers for. I had all kinds of tests and scans and they could find nothing wrong but I was in constant pain. I decided to simply cut out bread, pasta, potatoes, starchy vegetables and processed foods. Made all the difference in the world to me.

Take time for patients.. Exactly why my general practitioner - who was nothing short of one of the biggest blessing in my life from when I was a little girl till up in my 30s - had to retire early.. The insurance companies, law-makers and pharmaceutical industries had and still are managing to destroy that crucial thing called 'taking time to LISTEN to your patients' to the point that he could not do his job properly anymore. He was a rare gem of a human beeing (still is, I hope) and I will always be thankfull for the time he took to really figure out what was going on with me. He was a medical doctor and a anthroposophical doctor as well. Depending on what was going on with me he would perscribe regular pharmaceutical medication or something more in the lines of herbal tinctures etc.. One time he sent me off to a psychiatrist and another time he sent me to a paranormal research institute. His perspective was as all encompasing as they get. And that made it easy for you to talk and open up to him. He had this ability to really LOOK and LISTEN at/ to you. Moreover he even was a little clairvoyant at times and knew what I did not dare say a couple times.. He was such a BLESSING in my life and that of many others. Van Ittersum if you ever read this. I LOVE YOU!
And Bob and Brad, I love you too. What you are doing here is awsome. Thank you for inviting Adriaan Louw on here, I found this video very interesting! Thank you all for being so GENEROUS with your time and energy. You all are examples of what I strive to be one day

Please have Dr. Lowe on again. This was good. I'm going to fire someone because I don't feel like I'm being listened to; I feel like only half my problem has been identified and they aren't interested in the other half .

This is amazing. I agree with the stress factor anxiety. I told me in 94 that I had osteoarthritis and degenerative arthritis. The word degenerative didn't set well with me. And after all these years things haven't got much better. It's the stress I get ignored quite often. . . but that doesn't mean it's gone. I can forget about it but . . .it's still there.
I need help with pain yes, arthritis yes, but I think I need help with Stress Management. Sometimes I feel that I get good sleep at night but it doesn't happen always I do wake up feeling better when that happens. You opened my eyes to a few things thank you. I won't go on and on.

So timely. Thank for creating this video. Have my first real chronic pain experience and it's shocking how dismissive the docs can be. I do think it's more the male MD or RNs or DOs. But that's not to say there aren't some snot box female MDs, etc.

To add to Dr. Louw's wonderful advice and attitude, one way any doctor can make me feel heard and respected is to _look_ at me when I'm talking! I have a doctor who makes only occasional glances my way. He is more often looking through his notes while I'm talking, fairly often interrupts, and sometimes even asks questions later which proved he never heard me, because the answer to his question is in what I already said. _Look at me and listen to me._

Alot of people stop exercising and say there to old. And really it's far more important to exercise and keep active as you age. When you are young you can regain strength much easier but when you older it's much easier to maintain strength than it is to regain it if you lose it from sitting around. You get weak from being inactive and that's when you get pain.

I have Lyme and RA. I agree with everything you say, 100%. But every time I work out, I have full body flare ups and end up in bed for days. Even without over exertion, and pacing myself. It’s easier said than done for some And chronic pain varies from person to person.

agree. i have been dealing with chronic pain for years but exercise always make me feel better, sure exercise is hard but just think that we only do it for 1 to 2 hours but the benefit is for the entire day. sitting around makes the pain worse.

I can’t tell you how much this video has meant to me. I’ve been in severe chronic pain for 28 years. Around Christmas time 1991 they told me I had fibromyalgia I had two small children at six-month-old and a almost 2-year-old I cannot hold my children I couldn’t rock my baby to sleep it was hard to bathe them change the baby diapers I could hardly stand to wear clothes I hurt so bad. I’ve been on and off seizure medicine antidepressants physical therapy massage therapy chiropractic treatments electric stem treatments and ultrasound treatments and finally they said there was nothing they could do for me. Now I’m 58 years old and I was told three years ago I had diabetic neuropathy in my feet and my hands also cervical and spinal stenosis I try to walk every day I do my physical therapy exercises. I also had a fall three years ago in the pain in my lower buttocks and upper thighs nobody can find A reason why I have it why I can’t stand up straight and walk like a normal person I’ve been to four different neurologist to spine centers and they all say we’re sorry there’s nothing more we can do. Maybe I’m just dreaming but this video gives me a glimmer of hope maybe Sometime before I die I might have a few days of been I don’t want to say pain-free because I know that’ll never happen but at least maybe someday my pain can be reduced where I can enjoy life as opposed to know I dread each day. As I said I can’t thank you enough for
