At the end of the day, the WNBA is still a business. If the teams aren't making a profit, you can't expect them to increase player's salaries. If everyone that is complaining about the amount of money the women are being paid actually went to the games, they would be able to afford to pay them more.

Even talking PTAOI though, the last time we heard publicly, the WNBA was in the hole $10 million with revenues of $60 million. Last year, they grossed ~$200 million. I'd guess they're definitely in the black now. But the player pay % has probably dropped even further than the 25% i mentioned before, now it's probably closer to 10%.

It's nothing to do with sexism, It's basic economics, the WNBA whether you like it or not, is not as popular as the NBA or NFL etc. As a consequence, this means less investors and money, less money means that they can only dish out so much money. A proper response that would challenge this notion is that women's professional sports have been around for only a decade or slightly more...while most male pro leagues have been around for 70 to 100+ years. Thus, the male leagues have had significantly more time to build an audience.

      1) the WNBA spent years trying to appeal to ANYONE, and recently has really ramped up marketing.
      2) if you don’t support the wnba now as a woman, than you never will. You’re arguing that they need to use the quite literal most stereotypical sexist ideas to market with women, such as food since they cook and makeup and clothes since they shop.
Just imagine a guy saying “I won’t watch the nba until the players drop merch fishing gear and video games to appeal to me as a man” that has nothing to do with basketball idiot 😂
      3) these women have signature shoes and clothes readily available to buy right now. You just don’t care enough to support it.

The WNBA needs to start making money before they can pay players. Everyone who whines about it needs to go buy tickets and put butts in seats. Last year attendance was up to a whopping 6,600 per game around the league. That’s lame duck Oakland A’s territory.
