Absolutely Trevor, cheap insurance it is. I'm glad to see you on this new journey, and if you'd ever would like to fly in Australia, let us know. It's a great community here. Great flying too.
I have another thought on this. This occurred with me when I was flying a single seat 3 axis high performance plane that had the ballistic chute. When you have a chute, it gives a false impression that you will be saved if you get in a situation. I flew more out of my comfort zone and did things I would have never done without one . Not saying it is bad, it is good having one, but certain people think they will be invincible.
@@TrevorSteele1 it’s dependent also on how effectively you disable the glider. If you’re down-planing, you’ll hit harder than if you’re not, all else being equal. Question from a PG pilot: what’s the second line coming off your brake toggles (the one outside the pulley)? Does the inner line go to a cascade that isn't fully distributed along the trailing edge?
@@WillWindWonder That is true it does depend on how well you disable your glider. The second line is called a 2D line. It's a brake line that is attached to only the very outside of the glider.
@@TrevorSteele1 after that short rabbit hole I’ve learned something. Thanks! Step 1. Integrate 2-D steering with a speed wing style riser set so you can selectively engage parts of the trailing edge and also dive by going hands up Step 2. Call it 3-D steering. Step 3. Profit. Okay I’ll shut up now :)
I flown hundreds of hours in various aircraft types. only 1 plane had a parachute it was a ballastic. Lucky i never needed it. Doing ppg and ppc many hours never had one or had a need to use one. There are no old bold pilots.
Glad you haven't needed one. I am grateful not to have used one either. But, I fly with one every time. There is no reason not to and god forbid you need it, you'll be glad you have it.
Sorry if a am asking something personal. What's the reason for leaving dell. Is because you realized that other gear is good too or something else. Also why are paragliders curved is it for stability?
I left Dell for a difference in opinions! He thinks one way and I do not. The hate, the bashing, the negativity, the white lies, etc all got to me. I couldn't take it anymore. Plus I found products I liked better and believed were better for the customers which made it hard to sell the other product. You have to believe in what you sell and I no longer did.
I agree but where is your reserve mounted? I don’t see it right side, I don’t see it below, is it on throttle side? I feel like reserve on throttle side is not the best set up
I was wondering if there is a reason that your reserve chute is on your throttle side? Is there a preference, or some science that one side is better than another?
Glad I fly Hang gliders. There's really never a need to throw a reserve. Seriously, the wings have bones in them and can fly in a much more wide range of conditions and not even have to think about throwing your laundry/reserve.
100% agree here. Great video. Personally I think people who fly without are putting unnecessary risk to themselves. A but like driving a car without a seat belt. It's an extra lifeline why wouldn't you have it. Keep up the fantastic work. Love the videos. 👍
Legit question: how do you land safely with your reserve, with no crumple zone, do you try to stick the landing on your feet? Or do you just use a bigger reserve than you need and float down gently like a feather? Answer: shut up and be happy you have the reserve.
Hey dude... You're NOT flying a flat top ? Aren't you in huge and immediate danger without the ONLY safe paramotor in all universe ?? ... And it seems that your glider is NOT a dominator ?? Your dad might get mad at you !!

Will do thanks!
Totally agree, when in doubt throw it out. There never a reason to not fly with a reserve.
Agreed
Glad to see you boys flying together 😊
Really enjoyed that speell Trevor! Your a very good speaker/story teller. Wasn't boring at all. LOL! Looking forward to #2!
Great advice but not all people are smart enough to follow it. Not something I even have to think about it's there always. Rock on bro stay elevated 🌄
Mother Nature is undefeated.
you should always carry 2 reserves. 1 to get tangled up with your wing turning everything into an unusable wad, and a 2nd reserve to save your life
If doing hard acro, yes.
Average guy, no.
@ dumbcat I agree with you. I've seen too many entanglements where a second reserve was a lifesaver. We only live once on this earth.
@@TrevorSteele1 most entangled reserve videos i have seen were from the point of view of a regular pilot, not an acro
Absolutely Trevor, Hi Mike!!! Hi Jordan!!
Thanks, Trevor! You are right....it is cheap insurance.👍 Bill
$50 for a repack....
Trevor, Mike, Jordan, let's go flying when I get there! 😁

Well it will save you if you pull it of you don't it won't. In most situations parachute is like an "reset" button.
I'm sure some people will feel that way.
But not everyone.
And I'd much rather have people on reserves then not.
That's called Natural selection.
@@12vibaba That a fact
I think mounting ballistic rocket parachute on trike would be a cool idea.
Yes it would other than weight.
You were flying with Jordan? I was glad to hear that!
Yes sir! Still buddies despite everything!
Curious if you have ever thrown a reserve outside an SIV course and how did it go? How quickly do they inflate and how hard did you hit the ground?
Never had to throw one.
And how hard you hit the ground is completely dependent on the size of the reserve you use. Don't go small on your reserve.

Throttle side. It's not the best spot for it, but It's where I decided to put it.
@@TrevorSteele1 why is that? If it’s not the best place for it like you say… why not the other side or on lap?

Habit. My reserve has always been left mounted so I wanted to stay consistent.

You would be suprised at two things...
1. Most paramotors actually have "crumple zone." Just not as much.
2. You come down softer then you think.
