    Paraglider/paramotor trims is something every pilot NEEDS to understand. I decided to make a video breaking down exactly what you need to know.
    In short:
    Launch trims up.
    Pull them down when you first get up.
    Keep them down for the entire flight unless you are trying to get somewhere faster.
    Land with them down.
    Enough said...
    We have one more training class this year with space available!
    November 6-17, 2020
    Can you make it?
    We do 5 classes a year with only 15 students a class and we typically book up 30 days in advance. We have been running these classes for the last 18 years and have trained over 700 students in the process.
    Super Training is the only paramotor training you want to consider if you actually want to get into paramotors... At Super Training we focus on what actually matters and that is your real skills.
    We don't worry about the fufu feel-good stuff. We focus on building your skills from the ground up. We want to make sure that no matter what you, our students, have the skills you NEED to have to be safe and have FUN!!
    Real skills boil down to one thing - Your glider control skills. At the end of the day, how well can you actually fly that glider on the ground?
    If you don't have skills, you will miserably fail launch after launch, breaking gear, and ruining something that is supposed to be FUN!
    Which is why we focus SO HEAVILY on building real skills.
    There is a reason we are one of, if not the biggest paramotor school in the world...
    In addition to that, our training is so good many of our students go on to become head instructors at other schools not long after their first training...
    Which means if our new students are becoming instructors at other schools, they are building some real skills.
    Don't waste your time with other schools and learn to fly the right way.
    If your ready to take your first flight, Super Training is my 10-day paramotor training school where I personally take you from never having touched the glider to a master pilot in only 10-days. I do 5 training classes a year with 15 students a class down in Corpus Christi, Texas. I've been running these training classes for 18 years and have trained over 700 students safely.

    After 2 hours looking on UA-cam I finally found this video and you explained all about the risers and was just what I was looking for.

    Very good explanation of the setting of trimmers during takeoff, flying and Landing. This is exactly what I needed to be sure about

    You should build a small wooden stand to hand risers from using the maylons; that way when you pull trims down you can physically see the back riser go up and down. That way you don't have to keep turning it upside down and confusing even yourself. Otherwise another great video.

    No wonder all my trims down kiting leads to me either trying to bull my way forward or just getting sucked away in general haha. If I was a millionaire I'd have taken your class yesterday.

    • @DellSchanze
      @DellSchanze  Рік тому

      Well you only get to be a millionaire by doing things right. Poor people think they are too poor to get proper gear and training but then end up losing all their money destroying the crap gear because of no training. If you got SUPER training along with a Flat Top & Dominator you could be out there making $5000 a day doing tandems instead of talking about how you don't have enough money for the best gear and training in the world. :) Just something to think about.

      @@DellSchanze Solid points. I ended up building my own paramotor which I know will make you sick 😄. When I take your class I'll bring it and you can judge it and crucify it.
      PS the more I worked on it, the more I wish I had just bought a flattop from the start.

    Dang...... how can anybody give this a thumbs down???? I have been watching PPG videos for over 5 years and have never heard such great explanation before. There are some real haters out there.

    Why does one fly with trims down? Oh, never mind you answered it later in the video.

    Got one question you said with the trims up and you raise the rear end of your glider you lower the angle of attack wouldn't that just be the opposite with the trims up because with the trims up you raise the rear of the glider you make the glider go faster? Because the speed bar make it even steeper of an attack if I'm understanding the video right?

    • @DellSchanze
      @DellSchanze  3 роки тому

      Yes that's correct. When you have risers without trims it's the speedbar that gives 100% of the acceleration through lowering the angle of attack. Those with trims reduce the speedbar by the amount the trims add. So like with the Dominator you get about 40% of the speed from trims and the other 60% from the speedbar making for 100% of the acceleration through angle of attack. Other gliders have very different ratios. The Dominator is the ultimate because even with trims up it gives incredible speed but without really sacrificing safety much at all. With other gliders you won't likely get near the increase in speed nor maintain anywhere near the safety. Trims up on many gliders and the safety goes right out the window. Especially with hoaxflex death trap wings they call "reflex". Trims up on those and you turn it into a complete and total death trap. One collapse and they do a backflip 180 and lock into a face down spiral straight at the ground. That's why zero competent pilots fly them. Hope that helps.

    Am I getting this wrong, is a wing like a sail on a ship the backwards? Sailboat catches the wind that's coming from behind it so is the wing catching the wind is coming from in front of it? I'm trying to understand the angle of attack.

    • @DellSchanze
      @DellSchanze  3 роки тому +2

      You ask some funky questions. A paraglider is a wing that produces lift. It's about getting the wing that produces the best lift and gives the best performance but while at the same time has the best stability and safety. That's the Dominator. How or why a sail works compared to a paraglider is not really my area. I just test piles of gliders and know the Dominator is the ultimate. Why it's the ultimate I don't know for sure. I just know it is from vast testing and experience.

    Dell how much altitude do you lose while you're flying trims up? If you flew with trimmed up and speed bar could you have a chance of inverting the wing because of the angle you put the wing in and how much altitude do you lose line that way?

    • @dickfitswell3437
      @dickfitswell3437 2 роки тому +1

      Why? You wanting to be Top Gun? Only Maverick flys inverted

    I am not sure how many people in this class understood what Dell said. It is crucial to make an animated video showing angle of attack, trim, the impact of air touching front or back of the glider, use of a riser and its impact on glider.

      @dickfitswell3437 2 роки тому +1

      Did you go to training with Dell? This is just a short video. He actually shows you more in depth one on one. I saw Trevor show someone not understanding while he was kiting and instantly got it

  • @justinreich3486

    Does the dominator come in different classes?

    • @DellSchanze
      @DellSchanze  4 роки тому +1

      No. The Dominator is the safest class of glider. There is simply no reason to lack safety as it also has the most performance. So it would be silly to have a less safe glider that also has less performance than the super safe Dominator.
