back when I was a young man I thought the only Clydach was the one down the road from me here in the loswer Swansea Valley (you know, the one infamous for the awful murders in 1999). It was only in the mid 90s that I realised there was another one when I started heading to Abergavenny area virtually every weekend for a bike race! Sadly I never got to explore the area other than the various road climbs there on my bike. It's a really lovely looking area 🙂 You forgetting your tripod reminded me of the first time I hiked to the Gam, only to get there and realise my tripod was in the car. Oh how I laughed… Anyway, your woodland shots are kust on another level. The look you get is just superb 🙂
Good Morning Mart, there are many gems in and around the gorge as you know. I am still not abe to get out atm so sorting files n folders on the pc. atb Al
Many thank Stephen... this is old footage I found yesterday so dropped it on the channel as a reminder... not been out in a while due to circumstances at home etc. atb Al
Hi Alan great video , I drive past that gorge so often on the 465, I never realised it was so beautiful in there. Love the cascades and the tree , fantastic photos at the end. Good to see you posting , keep them going mate always enjoyable and showing me new places! Best wishes
Hi Adam, put the place down on your list for a wander sometime, I think you would enjoy it. From tunnels, gorges, waterfallls, woodland and hisory it has a lot to offer. Ihave been going there for over 25 years and still find little pockets to discover... amazing in such a small area. I have compiled a list of places and things to do - I really should put it into one video. I have done a few location videos on my channel which might give you a taste. Thanks for the watch n comment. atb Al
@@thevalleywalker hi Alan no problem, I can imagine there’s loads to explore there! That’s an impressive 25 years of exploring the gorge! It’s amazing how even one small area has new things to offer. Just seen the Tryfan video upload will check it out this week. Best wishes
Hello Alan. So good to see you back out again. That's brilliant. Beautiful place. Hope that tree hangs on for many more years, beautiful and huge. Loved the photos too, close up of mushrooms looked great👌 Hope your wife is getting better. Cracking video. Looking forward to more👋
Hi Jamie.. thankf but this is old footage -still more or less looking after my wife I am hopeful to get out this week for a day. Hope you are well. Clydach is always good for a bimble, lots to explore there.
@thevalleywalker Hope she's improving and you can get out again before the 💩 weather we had most of the year becomes cold. I like walking in the cold though👍
Thank you for sharing this, Alan. I have only ever heard of Clydach Gorge so this was great to watch, what a beautiful place! Beech trees are my favourite trees of them all and that is one magnificent beast. Some great photography too, I loved that shot of the mushrooms. Hope you're keeping well. Take it easy, Ryan.
Morning Ryan, was going to send you a note on IG this morning - had a notification from your channel in the night but its disappeared , all ok? Thanks for the wtahc & kind words, much appreciated. Still housebound atm so been clearing stuff from the pc (hence this footage from 2022) and also researching a place I want to vsiit in the Cambrian Mountains .
@@thevalleywalker sorry to hear you're still not well, Alan, I hope is all ok. I'm all good thanks, I uploaded a video last night and originally set it as premiere - maybe it sent a notification out? I've been exploring the Cambrians recently, it's incredible up there. Yes, feel free to drop me a message.
Some lovely images Alan i can see why the tree really grabbed your attention its a great specimen . Must remember to check out that website for trees in my area, think i looked before if i remember . Nice images of the waterfall too and all that extra exercise as a result of forgetting the tripod ! Worth the effort though Alan !
Good Morning Lee, I made some rough estimates to its size etc and put them on the website but I think more info and pics were needed as it was not added. The Clydach Gorgew area really has got a few hidden gems in what is comparitively a small area... thanks again. atb Al
Great to see another one of your outings. The beech tree is amazing and good idea to report it to the Ancient Tree Woodland Trust. I could see it was challenging to get a good angle but I did like your final images… Have you ever held the tripod up in the air with the camera set on a timer to get a higher viewpoint? I tried it in a Lavender field once which came out ok. I plan to do the same this week photographing a poppy field from standing on a wall holding the legs of the tripod as high as I can to see the beach beyond the field… Like I said, I enjoyed your video Alan, 😎👍🏼
Thansk Kurt, hope you are well fella, I think the explorer part of you would love some of those places in te gorge. I took Jack's girlfriend throguh the Gelli Felen tunnels the other day to show her - such a cool little part of the gorge - right up your street! atb Al
I do enjoy the videos in the gorge. This confused me. Spikes on your wellies and an autumnal feel to it!! You might wish to review your geographical knowledge of the Usk and where it meets the Severn 😂😂 An amazing tree. Would love to know its age.
Being housebound mate I have resorted to cleaning up my hard drives - and to that end I have cobbled together some bits from stuff lying about. I have it in my mind to a difinite guide to the hidden gems in the gorge if I ever get back out proper. I realised my Afon Hafren mistake but left it in there as I was too lazy to edit it... trust you to spot it..lol. Great to chat to you recently and thanks for the advice. Hope the trip goes well and when time allows hopefully we can meet up for that lesson on map reading :) atb Al
Wow1 Stunning place to be love waterfalls and rushing streams!
Thank you Mike, much apprfeciated.. great place for a bimmble it is. atb Al

so beautiful and dramatic. Considering I live near by I should get there more often..
You're rather good at this vloggy-photography stuff. I really must get over and explore the gorge at some point soon. Catch up in the near future.
Thansk buddy... when you do decide to explore I know someone who can show you around - we are due a day out at some point 🙂 atb Al
