Definitely a must see channel. You show a China that is real life hard working people with a big smile and absolutely relatable. In the west we never had a chance to see this China. You are doing a wonderful service for your country and the world.

Many of the foods you could find in Glodok/Pancoran ( Jakarta's Chinatown) since 70 years ago when I was just a kid, at that time only Chinese descendants eat those but now everybody loves it and I am sure most of them don't realize where it comes from, I love it Yan, thanks for sharing it with us.

My parents came from fujian. Once they brought back the delicacy called tu-sun-dong. It was gelatinous, with what appeared like worms 😳. My father had been wanting to eat it again for a very long time. The night they came back, he proudly brought it to the dinner table. He was grinning widely while eating. Wow, wow, wow! This is one of your most interesting videos. Really appreciate how you avoided the usual tourist trap areas and go real deep into the heart of the local scene. Not only did you introduce the very local delicacies in amazing clear honest detail, in the same time you also show the real daily lives of the honest everyday working folks in China. Great direction! Keep it up~
One of the ways you can approach the description of food is to introduce the idea of the three mains "顏,香,味“ - namely the presentation, the smell/aroma and the taste+texture/feel of the food. No need for too intense a vocabulary. A lot of times, I find your explanation clear, straight forward and easy to understand. Like an old English saying, sometimes less is more.
Good job~ Looking forward to more videos from you.

Just FYI. Since many Hokkien descendants are in South East Asia with many of our forefathers coming from QuanZhou, I hope you realized the similarities in Chinese food when you visited Penang. In fact there were already many food exchanges between Nanyang and Fujian back in the old days. My forefathers were from a village in Nan'an, QuanZhou. So viewing your videos gives me glimpse of how QuanZhou looks like with the hope of visiting one of these days.

The rice cake is a kind of mochi. Many kinds of it exist around the world. Japanese ones are mostly with something sweet inside like red bean paste etc.
Here locally in south east asia we have ground peanut mixed with sugar which is the favourite but these days they make many different types of filling.

Quanzhou is one of the best cities in China where I have been and right tomorrow I am gonna visit it again. It is very lovely place. There is Jinjiang county, that is much more developed than the downtown of Quanzhou. And also Shishi county with the beach, where you can swim. The Anhai countys stone bridge, which is historical. They have their unique dialect, which is interesting to listen, if you are interested in Mandarin. There is Qingyuan mountain in Quanzhou city, where you can find a big nice park with a lot of shaolin temples and also the famous statue of LaoZi. Few words about Shishi county ( actually now it is developed, clean and nice city, where the life is very relaxing), there are a lot of shoe and clothing factories, and people export the production to other cities and even to other countries.

Again 3 videos watched. All very nicely detailed. Your English is very good and your explanations are simple. That's why you have over 100 k subscribers. 👍

    肉燕是用瘦肉锤成的透明皮,在福建很多地方都有,福州的肉燕为了保存都是先蒸熟然后放冰箱,记得以前家里做肉燕,蒸的刚刚拿出来的真的好好吃🤤
