Here I am an Irish American software engineer who loves to eat Swiss cheese, learning about how they make Swiss cheese from a beautifully composed and beautifully edited You Tube video by a Chinese woman. I guess it is the 21st century.
Lovely video, your ability to connect with people and your innate curiosity combine to make the most interesting experiences, which you then share. Well done, you are a remarkable woman.
WHAT language barrier?! Yan, if anything, you've proven how many more languages you are proficient in than any of your viewers. Thank you for another amazing experience!
@@Kenny-yl9pc Right, so you speak the languages you grew up with and were required to learn in school. Good job. Meanwhile, Yan is out here learning languages completely unrelated to her native tongue and using them to make informative and entertaining videos, while working through any language barriers on the fly. She's awesome.
I know this is a video about cheese making, but I also feel luke it was about communication. It was so interesting to see everyone switching back and forth from French, English, German in order to tell this interesting story. Love it❤
I am Swiss living in Lausanne and I watch your wonderful videos about China. The french speaking population of Switzerland learns German in School, but nobody likes the subject so the level of our German is quite low. You can see this with some of the cheesemakers as they are switching between German and English (with some french in between). Quite often, when French speaking and German speaking Swiss people meet, we speak English 😅
sad bunch ...not treasuring your multi linguistic culture is a big mistake ... speak English when you are outside your own country ( if you are not able to communicate in the language of the country you are visiting ). When you are at home speak French,German & Italian...show some pride .
@@joeie5979 Are you treating Swiss French people as a sad bunch because of a remark made by a single person? Anyways here is a bit more information concerning languages in Switzerland. German is one of the 4 official languages of Switzerland (the others are french, Italian and romanche). Swiss German people actually speak specific dialects of German. There are at least 7 dialects and some are so different to the others that people from one region will not understand people from other regions. A German or Austrian will not understand these dialects. So when a french Swiss person (even if he speaks perfect German) speaks to a Swiss German person, he isn't actually speaking to that person in their mother tongue. He is speaking to them in the "official" language. On the other hand, the french spoken by Swiss people is just french with specific accents and there are no dialects. All of this in a country of only 8 million people.
I‘m Swiss and I live in Zürich and it’s the same way around with us speaking french, no one likes the subject so we also have a low level of french 🤣🤣🤣
Salut Mlle. YAN. Je suis très ravis de nous montré un différent paysage. La Suisse bien sure, impéccable. Fromage Artisanale, is a dying ART. Due to big corporates enterprises, telling it unsanitary productions and such. I really missed those days with no chemicals and less processed products, just as we say everywhere, "FAIT MAISON", or "HOMEMADE". Merci beacoup. A la prochaine fois.
Wherever you go, be it China, Tibet, Southeast Asia, the Middle East or Europe, you get the most beautiful aerial views! And the music you chose is always impeccably, sublimely beautiful! Thank you!!😊
You become one of the few cut above among general travel vlog . It's not bookish vlog, it's not ordinary vlog of nonsense , it's an informative cool interactive vlog. Switzerland is indeed beautiful on its on way as much as unseen China you showcased.🎉❤
I love how everyone is chatting using a mix of languages and making a real effort to communicate, it's so beautiful. I understand English and some long-forgotten German and the most basic French and it was really nice to hear it all come together and to actually understand all of it!!! Very enjoyable.
Wow, real hardworking families, love the corporative nature of business and openness of everyone. After watching the energy and processes they go through, no more complaints of cheese prices. This was an educational segment. Thanks
You are such a smart little cookie, speaking a very good german language I must say, so sweet to see my homeland I was born in!!! I love your style and very sweet personality! Much love and hugs, Claudia
You have a unique skill. To be able to shoot and compose/narrate like this is not easy. Your videos are informative and presented at a level anybody can understand. Your persona is so warm and welcoming.
As a Swiss myself. I enjoy to watch your video. I am so amazed of your language skills. You speak German without an accent. Your effort to speak French is also a huge gesture to the locals. May I ask you where you have learnt all those languages? I imagine I would fail so bad to speak Mandarin so properly you did with German. I also find it very brave to travel on your own as a woman. Keep up the good work, Yan! My algorithm has showed me your last north Korea trip. I will definitely look more often on your channel now.
Yan I am so impressed. Because of following your vids from the time you were in Europe crossing borders to go back to China, I took studying Mandarin seriously already. Haha. And when I am just about to finish Mandarin here you came out with a new video shocking us all you can speak French and German. Wow! Such a hard act to follow but does not stop inspiring us. Keep it up. Happy that you get back with Flo there. We were looking for him in your last video without him. Stay innovative in your video ideas. Keep them coming but dont forget to give yourself much needed rest. Take care. Xiexie ni!
It is so nice to see them treating the cows the way they should be with sun, grass, etc. In 🇨🇦 many, if not most cows never get to feel the sun or step on grass😢
This video was so fun to watch because I can speak English and Chinese and somewhat understand French. Normally in your videos I like to follow subtitles and compare the Chinese and English sentences to better my Chinese level. But this time when they speak French I had three languages trying to enter my brain at the same time haha. And as a Turkish seeing that they are eating homemade yoghurt in the Alps was the cherry on the top. That yoghurt has the same texture as the traditional homemade yoghurt(not the sweet ones sold in supermarkets) in Turkiye.
Grazie a tutti voi per il bel documentario di come si fa formaggio alpestre=Thank you to all of you for the testy Suisse Cheese making documentary. Thank you to all of you for the beautiful video and the excellent presentation by the lovely Lady, Paul.
Thank you, Yan for the wonderful video ❤ It was both informative and beautifully captured. I now have a deeper appreciation for Swiss cheese and it’s significance. Keep up the great work.
Thank you, Yan! This was SO NICE! I know the region, I spent a month in Switzerland in the summer of 1992 and it brings good memories. You are cute speaking a mix of German and English with the Swiss cheese makers. :) I love watching you reporting from "everywhere". What a great human being, you GO girl!
Wow! Being from rural Wisconsin USA, where cheese is king., it is wonderful to see cheese being made the way it has always been made. My uncle John was a cheese maker. Thank you for sharing. Love your video's!

Granddaughter 🐥thanks so much for this fascinating escape to another lovely country and culture. Always interesting and I always feel refreshed after such a long journey.
Excellent!! Beautiful and magnificent coutryside with excellent cheese. A place of my dreams. Thank you Yan. I love cheese and cheese making. A wonderful episode.
You sound very cute when you say "Yaaa..." (Ja), like a native German. Cheese - something I have sorely missed while visiting China; hope this will change for the better in the years to come. Thank you so much for the very informative video from "Unseen Switzerland". The drone shots are indeed beautiful.
I'm swiss. I watched so many of your videos about china, seems to be a beautiful and impressive country, very funny to see that you visited my country.
A very well made video, I always love watching your videos. I’ll let you in on a secret though, the cute little stalls for the calves are actually for males( they aren’t milk makers) so keeping them in a confined space keeps their muscles under used, so they stay nice and pink and eventually they are turned into veal…perfect for schnitzels. Farming is always practical.
It's said Genius traits include multi language capability. Yan, u have it! Amazing u could speak French, not counting mandarin, English, German! Great episode about cheese and I had skip this video because I wasn't expecting you to be in Swiss. Finally I came back and realised it's a special episode. Enjoy your Europe holiday!!
This is an extraordinary video. Thank you for bringing all humanity together. Whether in Middle East, Southeast Asia, China, or Europe, we are all the same (working for survival) yet different in characteristic. Your video is absolutely beautiful which touched my heart.
What a great video! Please convey our thanks to the family who su graciously let you in to their process so we can all follow along and salivate over those delicious cheeses!
I'm really happy to see you in my country after following your videos through deserts and high mountains! Your German is so good by the way, how many years have you been learning it? Les personnes à l'Étivaz, vous avez été adorables ♥️
No matter where you go, your videos are both informative and at the same time funny. This video took me back to a few years ago when I visited one of these places in German speaking region of Switzerland. Thanks for sharing this video 🌷
Wonderful video Yan, as always. And the landscape, as well as being beautiful, looks very similar to some of the regions you have shown in China. Your language abilities are impressive and you have wetted my appetite to visit Switzerland. It will probably be an area where German is spoken. I know enough to have a conversation, and, understood all the German that was spoken. Thank you for showing how the locals make cheese. And interesting knowing there is a cooperative, coming together to continue the tradition so that they can live the life they are accustomed to and enjoy. Looking forward to yours and Flo's adventures in Switzerland!!
Another good educational video on cheese making showing details of the process involved. Also, very beautiful scenic, serene and peaceful views of a section Alpine region. Glad and happy to know that you will be meeting Flo again here. Best wishes to both of you.

A week ago the videos were in China and now they're in Switzerland... excuse the cow pun here but: This caught me out of left field 😅 I love Switzerland so I'm excited to see where you go here.
Switzerland is very beautiful with landscapes, greenery, blue skies and well-furnished modern trains.❤ The cheese looks yummy. Some people say, Whey and Casein are very popular there. We think Swiss people eat more cheese, which is a high protein food. What other foods and diets are popular in Switz? We want to know.💐
Thanks Yan for this new vlog. I am as much as excited to watch this as with your vlogs in China. More power to you and hope u can also visit my country 🇵🇭
