Happy New Year Yan...Since I discovered your channel a few months ago, I have been following your adventures as you blogged your way from Europe to China. I am an 80 year old Chinese man born in Kuala Lumpur but have been living in Australia for the past 40 years. Your demeanor, laid back style and no frills commentaries are compelling and addictive. There's really nothing quite like celebrating CNY with your entire extended family in China. Since I moved from China to the US at the age of 4, I've only gotten to experience this once, and I will always cherish that memory. I still remember how my cousin and I set off firecrackers just outside our grandparents' residential building and how my aunt, dad, and uncle fussed over the food preparations in their itty bitty kitchen (by American standards, anyway). I may not ever experience all of that again - at least, not while my remaining grandparents are alive. My aunt's husband happens to be a talented amateur calligrapher, as was my grandfather, so it's lovely to see that our families have something in common.
This is so much like deewali festivals in India we too burn lots of crackers and fireworks , families get together and pray and eat ..exchange gifts .. absolutely a heartwarming episode ❤

So nice of you to show your family & the effort they make for the reunion. I must say this is same for all Chinese all over the world. It is! I just checked! I wonder which one came first
Enjoying my fourth video now, it was a pleasure to see your family and how you all prepared together for the new year festivities. They are all so happy. I’m looking forward to your other videos.
The music you select, must be Chinese classics? I love it, it really adds to the atmosphere.
your family is beautiful. Family is a gift. I pray for their good health and great bond.
This video is full of happiness.
So nice of you to show your family & the effort they make for the reunion. I must say this is same for all Chinese all over the world. Some differences is the letting of fireworks/firecrackers after midnite(1stDay in Malaysia) & can go on pass 2am (always sleepless nite LOL). Then we have the Hokkien New year (8thDay) - another sleepless nite!!!. But traditions is traditions & making loud noises is one of them. Happy Rabbit year to you & family!
oh, it is definitely a sleepless night, the fireworks starts early in the morning, and lasts till the next day, just my family, we do it before dinner. but when I was a kid, we also did it during the midnight! happy new year!
Happy New Year of the Rabbit to you, Yan and your love ones. May the New Year bestow on you and your love ones happiness, prosperity and excellent health. Jiayou Yan and your family. Thank you for sharing with us this auspicious occasion.
