Got one of these 2 weeks ago and my god, it has changed my drum life. Every tiny twist of each knob takes me somewhere else. It is, well, there are no words only sounds. Thanks for the Ahbluhtun set up tut also. That's the new way I say Ableton now. "Snare... guess what? That's a snare." LOL. Oh and this is probably news to no one but I find it's best to assign each knob a part of the drum. So, for example, the decay on the Kick is the skin of the drum's vibrations after it has been hit. If I do that then I can think about what I want the drum to sound like, think about what kind of hit would make that sound and then turn that visual into a sound wave via each knob's function as a part of that real world process. Love your channel I am always happy when I see the scorpion.
Cool video! Really appreciate you going over all the sounds. Stimming’s videos are great, absolutely true, but yours is a perfect addition. Thanks for making the effort!
Aaand, the golden kick of '22 goes TOOO....... Loved watching this video, thanks! It's this love on first sight feeling again, i just know this one will get a special place! I think someome might get hungry next month.... and then impatient for another month. Cant wait to get those raw sounds through my desk!!
I am happy to have decided to buy that DRM1 🙂 I have no good hardware compressor other than DBX166xs and two Behringer UV1 to start using that in combination with my other drum machines and some effect pedals. Let see what my UAD stuff can apply to the sound as well 🙂 Good overview and a real example for using effects
Fantastic video! Ten times better of what reading a typical music gear magazine would have been. Really! Videos like these make spending time on UA-cam worth it. The Overstayer and the reverb really make the DRM shine. Like herbs in the kitchen 👨🍳🥁🔊 I certainly will treat myself with a Vermona DRM this year. The price is really fair and reasonable imho. Thanks, Oora!
I've just picked up a MKIII with the CV ins quite cheap, probably as a result of the mkIV coming out. Having a lot of fun with this and the Perfourmer, it's quite nice getting a groove going with the DRM1 and layering in some 808 kicks if you have a more traditional drum machine as well.
I just got the same one you got. You still have it? im lovin it it sounds great. I have a TR8s too. So ill probably run The MKlll with it see what happens
@@buschovski1 Still have it, I've added a whole bunch of stuff since I bought the DRM1. It plays well with all of them. You can get some very interesting results with a sherman filterbank 2.
Yeah do!! It sounds great. there should be a free trial. still find it kinda difficult to change sounds but maybe thats just my own problem. Funny, i think the guys who make the Microtonic drum machine (Sonic Charge)plugin are German. Like Vermona. if i remember correctly.
At the old age of 60 I decided I want to learn how to produce electronic music. I have a Moog Sub 37 and just ordered a Roland Tr8S and a KeyStep Pro. Just wondering if you think this instrument would play nice with the Roland Tr8s? I am new to synthesis and want to make sure I am buying the right gear and wondering how this would sound with the Roland TR8s? Thanks for your channel. I just subscribed.
Hey Bob! This is a fully analog drum machine with a very specific sound, it will be a nice addition to the tr8s. Of course you can use samples on the tr8s and cover all the ground you need, so I'd buy an additional drum machine only if I don't need anything else!
I would buy an analog drum machine, so the TR8S can send midi to it. And yes the Vermona will pair perfectly with the Roland. I own both 😅 The Vermona is a synth mind you, but it will make your drums come to life if you later both the Roland with the Vermona
Did you do it? How did it work out with the key step? I'm on the edge of getting one and a beast step pro and would love to hear some feedback on the pairing.
Reckon it would work nicely with a beat step or beat step pro? I need a good sequencer for my moog minitaur and was hoping I could get good results with a bsp. Bonus if it works well with a drm.
io sto mettendo i soldi da parte per l'altro vermona e mi fai vedere questo? ^_^ Mannaggia... un portafoglio a fisarmonica ci vorrebbe :))). Ottimo video come al solito!
Hi there friend, I just picked up an MKIV but can't figure out how to connect it to the sequencer in Ableton Live Lite. There is not 'External Instrument' track I can create it seems in this version of Ableton. Any advice? Thanks!
@@OoraMusic thanks for the reply friend! I had some luck when I tried 'MIDI in' on Ableton by selecting 'Computer Keyboard'. I can mapped the synth as expected this way and play the synth with my laptop keyboard. Hooray!
But the knobs!! The faderfox with 72 knobs is almost CAD$900. That plus a Volca Drum is more than the Vermona. And the Vermona has individual out/inserts 😅

such a beautiful drum synth...that powdery thump kick was sweet.
Thanks for listening

I like your point about reverb and putting the instrument in a real space. Thanks for this review!
thanks for watching!
HATS OFF to you and Stimming
I see what you did there.
:)
Man these sounds are incredibly good
thanks!
amazing work - my favourite synth channel. always inspiring and a very high taste level.

Really happy to hear that, thanks! the DRM is a great canvas!
Vermona makes such beautiful instruments. I will get one of these bad boys at some point.
“Do the gain match in your mind” I love that
Keep the mind working all the time :)

I thought i received an email at 22mn but that was you!
I am also going through my Apollo with compression and the machine slaps

My brother just put an order in for one of these bad boys. Love the sound manipulation from the overstayer and 1979
its a great combo
Really interesting sounding for a drum machine, and the price is totally decent 👌🏻
agreed!

They sent a non trigger version, so for now this will have to do!
I kinda want to get the reverb more after watching
:)
i totally feel you @spacebuns ..... but then I saw the price. sticking with my uad ocean way studios in remic mode for the room sound
This machine reminds me of the Microtonic plugin. Sound very similiar.
gonna check it out!

ahhaha scusamiiii
is it possible to record automation like decay changes?
I dont think so
does the Overstayer Modular Channel have side-chain?
Yep
it does!
I have a Tanzbär 2 but I seem to want this instead.
ahah it happens to me all the time too :)
I'll swap 😂😂
@@teddyjones3652 Are you in the UK?
Great video man, thank you. Looks like you cost me around 700 euro. Anyway I subbed. Cheers!
Thanks for the sub!
Do your trigger buttons ever stick a bit?
not yet
This would pair up nicely with a TR8S.
yes you would have a lot of tonal possibilities
Can u get a good smack on the snare?
I think so!
