Emily, First of all I love your channel. I am 66 years old and never saved and was always in debt. I am happy to say that I am debt-free and am budgeting, saving, and trying to beef up my emergency fund (which I have completed baby step one). I just would like to encourage us “seniors” that you can do it, even if you need to sell your home and rent or move in with your child temporarily. We sold our home and paid off $40,000 of Credit Card debt. Then we bought a new car (cash) and opened a savings account. We paid for our car so no payment there. I don’t regret selling my house. God has provided our everything. ❤
What an incredible testimony!!! I love this!! Dave Ramsey always says it’s never too late and I always get so emotional listening to people who are retired do their debt free scream and say it’s their first time being debt free 🥹 so powerful! Proud of you Debbie!! 🙌🏼🙌🏼🙌🏼
I wanted to start with those cute journals like everyone else was doing but then i realized it was kinda counterproductive since the goal is to save money lol so instead while still getting something cute i just went to the dollar store and bought their little 4x6 photo albums lol the dollars fit in perfectly and if you wanna be descreet you can add photos to cover the money when its not full lol.. and if you wanna use a box they got cute ones too and still cheap
@@theaestheticdollar i actually used my canon printer and printed out the topics in cute photos so its still very aesthetic. Now i barely started and i havent been paid yet but so far it looks good!!
Love how real you are! Sometimes things really are as cut and dried as "stop spending". It's important to keep in mind what you're trying to reach (which goes back to the "why" like you said!) Amazing video!
I started with the accordion type envelope almost 30 years ago!!!! In those days they were sold as coupon holders. I used it before we had the envelope systems 😄
I love your comment about the credit cards. It is absolutely too easy to overspend with them! We find ourselves blowing the grocery budget because we can use the credit card. We have never had to pay interest, and always pay them off before the billing cycle. However those $20 charges/overages add up fast!
I completely agree with this. I told my husband, when I forget to take the money out of the back, because I’m off my game, the money disappears quicker and it doesn’t get saved.
Just beginning my cash envelope journey! Been working on my family’s budget (which is so hard bc we never had one) and bought your A6 chic wallet from the presale! This video was so informative and helpful! Thank you!
I absolutely love that u don’t push your product but you give options for people who don’t are in the financial space to buy ur awesome products!! It makes me trust you and know you mean to help and not just “push a product” I love it🥰
I totally used the accordian coupon organizers from the dollar store! It was simple to carry around in my purse and I was able to buy a few for my different categories. I've recently upgraded to the rings binders and find I miss my old system. 🤣
Thank you for making sure no one needs to spend 50-100 bucks so they can get pretty 🎉we love pretty ! But I can get pretty when my budget allows ! Plan budget pretty !glenda still a cash budgeter ! No debt !
I just discovered your channel and subscribed. I am VERY new to the Cash Stuffing System (in fact I haven't actually started except gathering some supplies). I sort of live with my parents in a terrace level apartment. I am disabled so my income is SSDI and my only Expenses are credit cards. I can't figure out how to budget my expenses. None of the many budgeting videos I've watched tell me how to know how much I need to budget for Groceries, Fuel, etc. Thank you.
First of all I must say you are absolutely beautiful! Secondly thank you for breaking budgeting down now I am more knowledgeable. I started budgeting in January and I am amazed how much money my husband and I have saved. I think a lot of people when you say budget means they now can’t buy what they want to ( my husband thought he was a kid on an allowance 😂) But the truth is you can live comfortably and have those things you want. I greatly appreciate you breaking everything down. Thank you!👍🏻❤️
Awesome video I needed this when I started with the cash envelope systems years ago. I had no clue what I was doing so I didn’t stick to it. But I kept going back to it and now I’m doing it. Love your videos 💜
Thank you for this. I went about this all backwards. I saw a video about cash stuffing, got the stuff to do it then didn't know how to do it with so many of my bills already debiting from my account. Your one statement of stuffing for the following month made EVERYTHING click for me.
Best thing I ever done was start cash envelopes. My job is casual and so it made it hard to know if I could pay big things like car rego or insurance so I started small with those and evolved from there. Now I cash stuff some of my husbands pay for him and he’s saving like there’s no tomorrow :)
New sub! I’m in the VERY beginning stage of cash stuffing. I purchased the small binder and the fancy envelopes for the more important bills..mortgage, car payment, food, utilities and emergency funds. Other smaller things I purchased just small plain paper envelopes, used a whole punch and out them in my little binder. They fit perfect!
New Subbie❤ I’m 3 mins in and I love how your breaking it down so far!! I loved when you said money management is 20% head knowledge and 80% behavior. I started budgeting about 2 months ago and so far so good. it gets hard at time because I’m not used to it but I’m doing better!! Okay back to finishing this video and watching your other ones soon after 😊
I started cash stuffing a few years ago when covid hit and wasn't making as much as I was before and haven't gone back! I found your channel about a year ago and it has taught me so much more about it and I love it even more and have gotten a lot better with it as well. One thing I struggle with though is I don't like bringing my bulky cash binder with me everywhere and I have yet to find a wallet that I like to put more cash sleeves in... where is yours from because I am absolutely in love with it!!
I’ve done okay so far this month with building my budget, but I have slipped up with some purchases that I didn’t account for and kinda blew it with the 80%-I think using cash envelopes for those items is something I have to do to keep that under control. This video was super helpful! I think this month I’ll try cash stuffing some items and keep bills in my account and see how that helps me.
Yes!! When we were swiping it was just it was just money we didn’t see so it didn’t matter! Now that we actually see the money *leaving* our- it has totally changed our habits! “I stop spending” 🤣🤣 love it! The months are never the same! That’s so true! Awesome AWESOME video love! 🩵🩵
I just came across this budgeting system and I am definately gonna try it ASAP...I am literally drowning in debt, I always have no money, always dipping into money set aside for other stuff... Thank you for this video
I loved this video so so much… I had so much trouble saving and I had a bad relationship with money.I started my cash envelope journey a few months back and I’m at the phase we’re I’m making my budget and can be with it and trying to figure in out by 2 hours but hey it gets done 😂❤
This was a great explanation and made so much sense. I’ll be cash stuffing for the second time with this week’s paycheck …still figuring out the categories. I’ll keep adjusting and learning each week. I figured it was better to jump in and pay with cash now rather than waiting until I had the “perfect” system. Even my 10 and 13 year old boys are using envelopes! I’m just so tired of living paycheck to paycheck. Thanks for being so encouraging! And I will dm you sometime…I’m in SE MN with the 5 boys ❤
I figured it was better to jump in and pay with cash now rather than waiting until I had the “perfect” system. Good for you. The biggest hurdle in cash stuffing is getting starting. Concepts such as fixed and variable categories can be daunting. No worries. You get an "A" for effort.
Excellent video. I just started cash stuffing I'm not a month ahead as you suggested I will eventually get there. This is really helping me. It has only been one month but I can already see the difference. My question is do you take out any funds that you have left over at the end of the month and put it towards your debt? Thank you
Yes I always save only when I have cash… because I can feel it, touch it, see it. So much easier to just put away and let it stack. Versus a card I always swipe and never think about the consequences.
Wow!!! What you are amazing in explaining this, ive watched tons of this cash envelope system video, but non of them explained it like what you did simple , true, real, prank and Hard haha. What i mean hard is like you did not sugar coat it, like we need it coz it's either be broke or budget. 2 hardest part of our lives. 🤭. But thanks tho, now i have a clear intention of why i need to do this. Not just for the trend. Thank you and keep being just real! You're really good in what you're doing. I will start now!
Just found this. My income varies. It’s never the same for now my main income is great clips which is mostly tip based. I avg 350 every 2 weeks. It’s hard to subtract when your unsure from month to month 😢 I did get my real estate license so soon as I save up my mls fee so I can start that I’ll have that too
Thank you so much!!!! Started two months ago. Thank you for explaining that most people have saved a month ahead for their expenses this makes sense. This was were I was finding it hard. 😊
In my family, I'm concidered the frugal one. But in reality, I just haven't been one to spend money I don't have. I'm actually still impulsive, buying stuff I really don't need because I saw a picture/video on social media that inspired me. I loooove the dopamine rush of buying something and definitely self sooth with shopping and food. Not to the point of it being actually economically harmful to me, but it's just so unnecessary, you know? I've had a budget for years now, but only started actually follow it as soon as I switched to using cash. Because even if my dopamine starved brain loves to buy stuff, my inner goblin loves hoarding money even more! Cards make money this surreal concept to my mind, but cash makes it real. To be able to see and feel how much I spend.
Thank u so much for this introduction! I’m totally new to this and one question I have is: do you then not keep any money at the bank? Do u cash out all your money on payday and then keep all your money in cash at home? (I asume a safe would be needed in that case). Getting my head around this 😊 Huge thanks to anyone who can reply!
Great question! We have money in the bank (both check and savings). We only take out cash for things we choose to cash stuff for ( for us it’s typically things we may forget about or overspend in). We decide how much to cash stuff when we make our budget :) For example, we don’t cash stuff auto-pay bills, groceries or gas.
@@theaestheticdollar aha! I get it! Oh thank you so much for the quick reply! I’m fascinated by this trend I didn’t know about (although some 15yrs ago I remember doing paper envelopes when I started budgeting as a very young adult!) 💕💕
i used to kind of cash stuff but in a binder.. and its true i spent less money when i had all my money in cash for savings... and now i learned about cash stuffing and i cant wait to get my envelopes to start! :D
All I have to say is this actually works perfectly I have one account that my check goes into which is Cash app I takeout half of my rent money and I put that in my checking and I put 100 or 150 into my savings and the rest I leave in my cash app for groceries or gas money and for my bills too I know exactly what I need to spend on those type of things
I wanted to start doing cash spending but I am terrified of having all that money in my purse all that time, is this something other people worry about? Do they keep half of it at home in a safe and just 'top up' their wallet funds?
I cash stuff into envelopes but what I do is number the envelopes 1-100 and I put those divided into 4 orange tab envelopes. (So they all fit somewhere lol ) then I wrote on index cards for each month what my bills are with the amount . In the back of the card I labeled week 1-4 (sometimes 5) with a 40% sign and a line where I would save 40 percent of my earnings each wk ( you can choose whatever percent that’s just what I chose ) after I take out the bill money which I divided wkly for the month I leave bill percent on my debit card and withdraw the rest and stuff 40% and whatever is left I put in my savings to spend .
Thank you 🙏 I was already adding things to my Amazon bucket meanwhile knowing I don’t have money to buy I appreciate you saying at this season it’s ok to do envelopes!! How can you start the month advance system?
Come to my house right after dinner, it’s quite the opposite 🤣🤣 it’s crazy how such tiny humans can make such huge messes! I genuinely appreciate the compliment friend 🥰
I'm struggling with how to start when so many items are paid automatically. Items regularly withdrawn are Netflix, Disney+, electric, water, my mortgage and many more. Help!
Question. What other options should one do if they lose their job or don’t have any reliable income at the moment, but still wants to do saving challenges?
I can only speak to what I would do if I were in that position 🫶🏼 so what I’d do is I’d find a way to make extra cash helping out a friend or doing a side hustle or something while applying for new jobs to get my income back up 🖤 in between that time if I didn’t have extra cash to out into savings challenges, then I would pause my savings challenges. I always make sure that me and my family’s basic needs are met first above all else 🤗
Really good, to the point but, thorough explanation! I have the opposite problem…I can spend cash soooo easily and have no clue where it went 🥴 But, now that there are all these pretty things for cash stuffing, I don’t want to spend…I want to stuff and save 😂
What is your method in bill selection when you cash out at the bank? Example: If you just got paid $2,500 how many 100s, 20s, 50s, 10s, etc. do you ask for.
My question is in regards to being self-employed. My wife is a private hair stylist, so her income is all over the place. She’s is paid every other day basically, it’s never the same. How do you manage this?
Great question!! My husband and I are both self employed and our income is never consistent, I feel ya on that! What we do is pay ourselves at the beginning of every month with our profit from the month before and then budget out that money for the entire month. It’s never perfect, and it took us about 6 months to really get the hang of it. If I were in your shoes working to get to that point, I would budget out the money each time Im paid and decide exactly what I’m going to do with it (give it a job), even if that’s saving, paying off debt, paying the light bill, whatever 🖤 hope this helps!
How can you do this well with an account that you cant deposit cash into? My only thought is somehow buying a money order and depositing that on my app with mobile deposit. Thoughts?
I have a question. I see a lot of you tube cash stuffers stuff cash for big bills like rent, utilities, car payments. Can someone clarify why someone would do this. Would it be just to get ahead maybe have the 3-6 months saved. Surely you would stuff large monthly bills to just return it back to the bank. I’m new to life.. haha Ive read so many financial books and watched a ton of videos. At this point I have so many questions. I will say that cash stuffing for area I over spend has really helped me. Thanks in advance for the help.
Amazing ❤ video! Great job breaking everything down & explaining to others so it makes sense. I already know all this as I’ve been budgeting for years and started cash stuffing last year… but I’m not good at explaining things sometimes/my words tend to fail me lol 😂 so that’s why I haven’t made videos like this explaining. One day I’ll sit down and plan these type videos… but for now I’m trying to get our finances under control.
😂all this is true, but girl you had me ctfu after you said, "& you can fact check me on that." and then BAM a big, fat "TRUE" stamp literally stamps the screen🤣🤣
I just want to make sure I am understanding this correctly (completely new to this and deciding if it is right for my family). You withdraw cash after your check is deposited to do the cash stuffing, then you put the money back in the bank account for things that can’t be paid in cash (ie. my landlord requires cashier checks)?
Great question! When I make our budget, I plan for the things I’m going to cash stuff for and take that cash out for only those things and the things that I don’t cash stuff for I leave in my account. So for us right now, that is most of our bills and our groceries because I usually order groceries online and then go pick them up 🖤 so I still budget for those things, but don’t pull cash for them!
I like the idea of “feeling” spending the money with cash. You answered a question I’ve always had. I have a credit card I pay off every month and make a percent back on purchases usually 1-2% but if I’m paying in cash and spending 18% less it’s still a good decision. I think I’m going to try this and see how it goes. The only thing I’m worried about is losing the cash. I literally never have any cash so it seems so risky because I am so forgetful. Does anyone have any insight or has lost their cash walled?
There are a few things to watch like checking you have received the right change or making sure you don't pull out an extra note/bill or drop any etc. In the UK they changed us over from paper to polymer notes which can slip out of purses
What if you used play money, treating it the same way you would if it was real - pulling it out of your envelopes as you “spend” it using your plastic. That way you’d still have the visual of what’s been used and how much is left.
“Budgeting is hard but being broke is also hard” ma’am! This is a bar.
Emily, First of all I love your channel. I am 66 years old and never saved and was always in debt. Yesssss 🙌🏼
When you start stuffing you actually forget the money is in the envelopes.
Yes and it starts to accumulate!! 🤩 my sinking funds envelopes have no problem accumulating, it’s the cash in my wallet that seems to disappear 🤣🤣🤣
I noticed that about myself too. 🎉
I completely agree with this. I told my husband, when I forget to take the money out of the back, because I’m off my game, the money disappears quicker and it doesn’t get saved.

Great question! We have money in the bank (both check and savings). We only take out cash for things we choose to cash stuff for ( for us it’s typically things we may forget about or overspend in). We decide how much to cash stuff when we make our budget :)
For example, we don’t cash stuff auto-pay bills, groceries or gas.
@@theaestheticdollar aha! I get it! Oh thank you so much for the quick reply! I’m fascinated by this trend I didn’t know about (although some 15yrs ago I remember doing paper envelopes when I started budgeting as a very young adult!) 💕💕
this video is a big help for me.... I watched it 4x... Waiting for the next video and for online spending its where im at lost. thank you in advance
I have quite a few of my online spending videos up already, there is one that’s linked in the description of this video, I hope that’s helpful!
@@theaestheticdollar I saw it thank you again and have a great day ahead❤️
i used to kind of cash stuff but in a binder.. and its true i spent less money when i had all my money in cash for savings... and now i learned about cash stuffing and i cant wait to get my envelopes to start! :D
Yay!!! So excited for you!! Sounds like you’re doing great 🫶🏼
Hello Emily, new sub here. Starting fresh in 2024, thanks for sharing your information. ❤
Welcome to the channel 🥰
All I have to say is this actually works perfectly I have one account that my check goes into which is Cash app I takeout half of my rent money and I put that in my checking and I put 100 or 150 into my savings and the rest I leave in my cash app for groceries or gas money and for my bills too I know exactly what I need to spend on those type of things
💡
New subscriber 😊 I appreciate this info! Just started my YT channel to document my low buy year 😅 contemplating starting cash stuffing!
You should totally do it! There’s a whole community of people ready to support you! So proud of you for starting a channel! 🤩🤩🤩
Very informative, i love it!
Thanks❤
Thanks for sharing! Great information!😊
Great video!!! Just started cash stuffing this year and I love it!!! Definitely takes a new mindset!!!
You posted this at the perfect time 💕💕 just found your channel and I’m obsessed lol
Awe thank you!! Welcome to the channel friend!! 🥰
This is such an amazing idea! I love this!
Thank you so much for doing this. Even though I have been doing the system for a while. I still learned some thing. As always, I love your videos!
How does this work for people who pay bills using a debit card?
Love this video!!! Also, My cash envelopes came today and I looooove them! Thank you Emily!!!
Ahhhh yay!!! 🤩🫶🏼
Thank you 🙏
I was already adding things to my Amazon bucket meanwhile knowing I don’t have money to buy I appreciate you saying at this season it’s ok to do envelopes!!
How can you start the month advance system?
How do you use it when you want to pay for like restaurant or coffee?
I don’t use cash stuffing method but this video was SO informative!
Yay love this Emily! And your house decor is so cute and cozy.
Come to my house right after dinner, it’s quite the opposite 🤣🤣 it’s crazy how such tiny humans can make such huge messes! I genuinely appreciate the compliment friend 🥰
@@theaestheticdollar 😂😂😂 could’ve fooled me! Looks spotless.
I'm struggling with how to start when so many items are paid automatically. Items regularly withdrawn are Netflix, Disney+, electric, water, my mortgage and many more. Help!
I love your videos and your aesthetic 🤍🫶🏻 thank you so much for this video!
You’re so welcome 🥰
I have the opposite problem…I can spend cash soooo easily and have no clue where it went 🥴
But, now that there are all these pretty things for cash stuffing, I don’t want to spend…I want to stuff and save 😂
I haven’t finished the video but how would I move from mainly keeping $ in the bank to having cash on hand to stuff? Just withdraw a certain amount?
lol love this method and idea 😂 but it made me laugh with the drive to the bank my closest bank Is 16 hrs away 😂
Omgeeee your sooo beautiful and your eyebrows are perfection ❤❤❤❤
I'm trying to find a way to do this electronically. I don't have a car; I don't bank at a brick and mortar bank.
I started with paper envelopes And after months I ordered my first journalind What do I use for my small expenses as a teenager lol
I just found your channel and I love it. Can you recommend a side job? Everything I've looked in to has been disappointing.
Thank you so much for this! SUPER helpful!
Thank you so much!! 🖤
Great video! I love the transparency
Emily great job!! Explaining everything!! Such a Informative Video!! Thank you.
Thank you so much!!
One day I’ll sit down and plan these type videos… but for now I’m trying to get our finances under control.
its a great system. i was able to save about 4k in 6 months
WOW!!! That’s amazing!! Congratulations!!!
I'm new to your channel and loving it. I can't find the clear binder on your website though
Hello! I don’t sell them anymore but I have a mystery grab bag sale coming up and will have some grab bag options with them inside!
My favorite channel ♥️ great video!
Awe thanks friend!! I always love seeing your comments!! 🥰
Great video. Very informative and I love you tough love advice.
I want to do this, but I am self employed, I get paid daily and it’s never the same every week or month (hairstylist) how can I do this?
😂all this is true, but girl you had me ctfu after you said, "& you can fact check me on that." and then BAM a big, fat "TRUE" stamp literally stamps the screen🤣🤣
So, are you actually cashing or your check? Leaving the auto debit costs in there?
Love your channel. What would you recommend as a beginner side hustle?
There are so many things! Door dash, Uber, barista, server, etc 🖤 just google side hustle ideas and pick one that excites you!
I just found your channel. Loving your videos. You mentioned side hustles in this video. Have you done or would you do one on side hustles?
Great suggestion!
