30 year leases 😐😬😧 Most of these stadium problems involve $$$ and outskirt cities sometimes are easier than dealing with said city proper. Building a stadium 5 miles away is just cheaper. And they want a roof. I don’t blame them.
I was at the preseason game yesterday asking the ACTUAL fans that attend games and ALL of them said they preferred the stadium downtown (even folks who live in Brook Park). About 40% said they would settle for Brook Park location IF the dome was as cool as the renderings. All of that 40% said “we wish they could just build this dome downtown”. The 50% said Browns football should be played outside and they appreciate the elements, renovate the stadium and call it a day. The other ~10% said put a roof on the current stadium. Moral of the story: every single Browns fan i spoke with at the game Saturday wants the Browns downtown. They realize how important they are to Cleveland’s economy. Some are swayed because they think Brook Park is the only option for the dome, when in reality there is plenty of space available in downtown, the flats, Burke airport, or midtown if not immediately adjacent to the existing stadium.
The issue is Haslam has really next to no control with the Art Modell rule that’s on the books in the state of Ohio and that applies to even moving the team next-door to the city next to Cleveland. The way the rule is structured. It prevents them from moving. Haslam could challenge it in the Supreme Court, but that would take years time that he doesn’t have in time that he could’ve spent trying to get the stadium deal done. Kind of was the point of the rule to begin with when the original Browns moved to Baltimore. Basically delay until they get the agreement they want Haslam knows very well since he used the rule in his favor to get the Columbus Ohio soccer team. According to Haslam, he publicly said either Brooke Park or renovations of the existing stadium. Well the mayor a week prior to the rendering being revealed gave him the $400 million renovation he wanted for the existing stadium. And now apparently on top of the hour, News just broke that the Brooke Park county will not approve a stadium in Brook Park. This is definitely gonna be a cat and mouse game.
I wish we could force the Haslams to pay for their stadium out of their own pocket. Because there is enough things going on Cleveland and this is something extracurricular that we dont necessarily need in this city. And plus the average fan cant afford to go to the games here guaranteed.
Any one from Cleveland who does not support the "move" does not care about the City. The stadium is literally what is needed. Anyone who thinks otherwise is stuck in the 1980s... which was when we were still losing then, too.
Even as a Michigander (with family in Mentor-on-the-Lake), I care about the history. The Browns have been there since the days of Municipal Stadium (God rest its turf).
Waterfront developments sound great and the drawings look great, but in reality, these areas have been industrial sites for centuries. As a result, they contain millions of cubic yards of contaminated soil that makes projects costs prohibitive.
I think Cleveland State University could opt in to get a D1 football program so First Energy could stay. They have enough students, and they could always renovate to remove seating if it’s too much.
I lived in NE Ohio from 1985-95 and back then the fans have a higher preference for the stadiums and arenas being in Cleveland proper. Though many (most?) other stadium are in the actual city. The fans will grumble but they'll still show up. The Cavs had good attendance when they literally played in the middle of nowhere at the Richfield Coliseum. I liked it because I lived in the Akron area. However, the site where it was is closer to Akron than Cleveland. The coliseum was completely torn down and the parking lot ripped up and there's simply nothing there today.
Half the NFL teams do NOT play in their Named cities- ie Dallas, Boston, Los Angeles, San Francisco. Cleveland should do a land swap with Brook Park just to settle arguments. It is only 1,000 feet outside of Cleveland.
Here's an interesting fact about the heating pipes under Lambeau Field, which Depressed Ginger talked about during this video: Vince Lombardi was instrumental in installing those heat pipes. That's why when the Green Bay Packers played the Dallas Cowboys in the Ice Bowl, none of the players complained about the turf that day. Now, they all FOR SURE complained about getting frostbite. But at least none of the players slipped and fell on their...um, butts.
Im BORN AND RAISED IN CLEVELAND. Brookpark IS Cleveland. The whole area code 216 is CLEVELAND. When you get mail or write a letter to someone, you have to put Cleveland ohio, 44135 or 44126 or 44124 ect. You don't write "Brookpark, ohio ". Stop saying brookpark is separate from Cleveland because its not. Brookpark is just a small suburb of Cleveland. Still CLEVELAND
Don't care if the address thing says it's Cleveland but the truth is Brook Park is not Cleveland Brook Park is 14 miles away from the city of Cleveland.
It goes two ways for me. It feels sacrilege to not have the stadium in the city yet many other teams do that (plus AFC North football is built on playing in horrid weather in open air in ugly football games with close scores because the football gods somehow call for it) but you can also see that the owners are aiming big for the stadium and want to have other events rather than just football. They just had The Rolling Stones in June, just had WWE SummerSlam this month, are going to have Billy Joel next month and in the past, two Monster Jam shows, outdoor hockey for Ohio State and the Winter Classic for the AHL. Along with a Joan Jett, Poison, Def Leppard and Mötley Crüe tour and an MGK tour 2 years ago. They want more and want more big events for the city and for people outside of the city to come here. So you see their vision in a way (plus the stadium is starting to age) but also, the fan attachment for those that actually go to games.
Nothing! This Guy wants every team to have a bubble roof over the field which will eventually become outdated since everyone is just copying each other and turning these domes into lifeless Bland Cookie Cutters!
Burke airport is also an emergency landing area in case of trouble at Hopkins International. I hated when the indoor style basketball arena in Cleveland was actually in Richfield which was quite a drive but the powers that be in Cleveland are snobby rich people who could care less where the Browns build there stadium! The Miami Dolphins stepped away from the Orange Bowl and built their current stadium at the north end of the county, possibly 20 miles north of the city. This will work. I'm concerned with the snow load on the see-through roof.
Cleveland Browns fans should just be glad that Browns are still going in the Cleveland metropolitan area-as opposed to moving to Baltimore like what Art Modell did in the mid 1990’s!

Sad that all these teams are moving an outdoor sport indoors. A lot of the intrigue to football was the elements you played in or watched them play in. Taking that away and I think many people will just lose interest. But luckily for all the owners new fans will take their place. Once all or most stadiums go indoors they need to create a different hall of fame and stat column. One for then who played the game outside and another for the pampered boys who play it inside.

Why do you think it won’t work out, it’s very accessible. Right off of 480, people from the east can just drive on opportunity corridor and there will be no extra traffic as it’s Sunday. You can make 90 work as well from 3 exits of your choice, W117, Lakewood, Rocky River. Then just just go south to Brook Park Rd. However, you could just merge off of 490 and 271 to 480 as well from the East. If you’ve ever been to a game majority of the West rides the Rapid (Train) to the game. Then the East had to drive and find parking that’s not free. Also, Brook Park needs something as it’s just a bunch of ehhh, when I think of Brook Park I just think of all the whacky strip clubs. I respect your opinion, and I hope the stadium succeeds but I disagree.
@@agent1.618 Exactly, that's why it's a complete waste of time to move away from downtown. They just gonna keep complaining and they the same ones who keep traveling to downtown watching the Browns. Nobody wants to go to Brook Park except the airport to go watch a Browns game.
@@WolfCobra27 Well the Cuyahoga County officials already rejected it, so I guess it doesn't matter anyways. Browns will stay downtown more than likely now. I think the Browns will create that traffic which is a nightmare for suburban stadiums on gameday, in some ways it's even worse and there's still constant traffic because of the airport. I respect your opinion, though, but the Browns need to stay downtown period.
30 year leases 😐😬😧
Most of these stadium problems involve $$$ and outskirt cities sometimes are easier than dealing with said city proper.
It’s only 25 years old.Unless it’s funded by the team and other private funds there’s no way they should expect people to pay taxes
To close down airfield which got FAA money takes 10+ years so it’s not feasible
Chicago did it
I think Cleveland State University could opt in to get a D1 football program so First Energy could stay. They have enough students, and they could always renovate to remove seating if it’s too much.
I’m guessing the owner/s of that airport are asking an insanely high price to sell
The coliseum was completely torn down and the parking lot ripped up and there's simply nothing there today.
and they actually had a parking lot of their own
Half the NFL teams do NOT play in their Named cities- ie Dallas, Boston, Los Angeles, San Francisco. Cleveland should do a land swap with Brook Park just to settle arguments. It is only 1,000 feet outside of Cleveland.
Great idea
I heard there also used to be another city near Fairview Cleveland boarder near nasa
Nope not happening. Brook Park wants that revenue. Big devastating blow to downtown and the city. Restaurants etc
Browns stadium looks great, you Americans are crazy with stadiums.
The county of Brook Park rejected stadium plans to be billed and there’s expected to be a press conference tomorrow.
Terrible idea. Current stadium is fine
Hooray. Glad someone set this straight.
thank you!! everyone knows this too they just wanna complain
Yeah let’s destroy downtown. The revenue is now not in Cleveland. You talking ignorance
Don't care if the address thing says it's Cleveland but the truth is Brook Park is not Cleveland Brook Park is 14 miles away from the city of Cleveland.
@@cichlidlover27 different corporations. It’s about money
What’s wrong with Cleveland browns stadium rn?
Nothing! This Guy wants every team to have a bubble roof over the field which will eventually become outdated since everyone is just copying each other and turning these domes into lifeless Bland Cookie Cutters!
@@nicholasmallard2926 i couldn't agree more. Allegiant stadium and the bears new stadium renderings look the exact same. No character at all
@@VanNuck The Titans new Stadium is a Square Version of the Las Vegas Raiders Stadium! Bro It's getting ridiculous!!
@@nicholasmallard2926 and the Jaguars proposed new renovation (basically a teardown and rebuild) is the same thing. This sucks
The Browns currently have a Beautiful Stadium! Why do they even need a New Stadium at this time?🤨 Just a Waste of Tax Payers Money!!
Burke airport is also an emergency landing area in case of trouble at Hopkins International.
I hated when the indoor style basketball arena in Cleveland was actually in Richfield which was quite a drive but the powers that be in Cleveland are snobby rich people who could care less where the Browns build there stadium!
If we have to have a dome then Brookpark is a good location I’m not sure we need one but if it comes to pass then I’m sure I STILL won’t be able to afford to take my grandson to a game!
You won’t be able to afford a ticket
The Miami Dolphins stepped away from the Orange Bowl and built their current stadium at the north end of the county, possibly 20 miles north of the city. This will work. I'm concerned with the snow load on the see-through roof.
Cleveland Browns fans should just be glad that Browns are still going in the Cleveland metropolitan area-as opposed to moving to Baltimore like what Art Modell did in the mid 1990’s!
At least it's in Ohio.. Don't worry chiefs will be in Missouri..Kansas is an Armpit state..believe me no one wants to go there and hangout
Airport is the best site for it because of the direct transit connection
Is there a rail link from the city centre?..
@@Roymarsh1234I think it's the Red Line that runs under Tower City that dead ends at the airport.. Been a while since I've been on it... But that's to Hopkins, right next to the proposed new stadium site in Brookpark, not Burke. I don't think there is a line that goes there since it's just an overflow airport.
Yes
First preseason game in about an hour.
Cleveland, Ohio can just have a newest NHL professional expansion team in The Forest City!🎸🎸🎸🎸🎸🎸🏟🏟🏟🏟🏟🏟🏒🏒🏒🏒🏒🏒
No. Columbus has a team and Cleveland is a shrinking city with 3 pro sports teams already. Would t make sense plus the NHL plays at the same time as NBA. Now if u said a NBA franchise in Columbus, I’m all in! Columbus is growing and about to be a tech valley with Intel coming in.
Great work
As a.browns fan, I love the possibilities with this new one
Nothing is wrong with Cleveland Browns Stadium 🏟
Name the handful of teams that play in the city of the their names. 7 teams, that have play in the city in their names. Get over it.
What are the rules about tail gating, are they going to be allowed to continue to tailgate and grill out?
It's still in Cuyahoga County too. It's not like it's in another state.
I want a new dome
Brookpark is CLEVELAND!. Stop saying it's not. Brookpark IS CLEVELAND!.
Facts it's a suburb of Cleveland. Most teams are now moving in the suburbs just outside the city these days. That's the future more and more teams are going to be like that.
Cuz it's convenient an easier to get in and out of the stadiums which all or most fans want more than anything.
@@notfakemaine1431 Um, most teams do not play in the suburbs, most teams are playing downtown. That was the original model back in the 60s and 70s and it didn't work and most teams moved back to the city. Only clown owners are still moving to the burbs. The only places where it makes sense is cities where driving is more of a priority than public transportation like in Dallas and Phoenix. Teams need to stay downtown where it's easier to get to for fans and where the hotels are at as well. It's actually hell driving from the suburbs and very far from other suburbs too, so you're like 100% wrong on what you just said.
@@retrowarehouse2554 I meant to say most teams in the future are starting to move outside of downtown and into the suburbs.
And I agree with you on some parts of it should still be downtown but how the infrastructure is set up where our stadium is now It's a complete disaster to get in and out of I've plenty of Browns games throughout the years.
Let's not kid ourselves The spot that we're at now sucks. If they can find a different spot downtown I'm all for it tho.
But that's not going to happen.
And most of these new stadiums are building hotels around the stadium.
All I'm saying is trending that way The cowboys don't, The Rams don't, the Giants and Jets don't to avoid New York traffic That's why they play in New Jersey, The bills don't they play south from downtown Buffalo Orchard Park, Miami is a little bit outside of downtown. I'm just saying.
It's not exactly the end of the world if they just move down the road.
And again I would love for them to stay downtown but the spot that they're at is just a horrible spot period.
Well I got three Bridges to get access to the stadium not ideal.
So it sucks when you got to walk so damn far just to get access to the stadium because of bad infrastructure.
facts i'm tired of people complaining about that too they know damn well brookpark is cleveland from old brooklyn to brooklyn to brookpark it's all Cleveland
Cleveland the city will be missing out on the money. Devastating blow to downtown
Cardinals play in Glendale, with no traffic thats about 15-20 mins from downtown Phoenix. Dont understand why the cities of Cleveland and Chicago are mad
Is this video stolen as well?
First question, why do they need a roof??
Can’t get a Super Bowl without it??
As long as we have such a crap team, does it really matter where the mess is located? As long as fans keep showing up for this kind of team, that's all we will ever have.
Domes are for idiots...who cares...we understand it is expensive...how long would it take to make 2 billion dollars back maybe using in 12 extra times a year for other stuff
The games after 12/15 an later can be brutal outside. If they are night games in that part of the season its really rough. Clevelanders aren't like Green Bay ppl. we don't go outside from Jan-March. Our warmest clothes are tuned for 20F. Those games get colder with the wind and concrete is the worst through the boots. Remember - NFL playoffs were right after the New Year and those were once in a while. Now the season ends in mid Jan! A dome would be great. Detroit stopped playing outside a long time ago. Buffalo made a huge mistake not doing it.
Come on. Build the cyber truck stadium in Brook Park.
It’s good. I hope Bibb puts that money back in the city in the poor neighborhoods
I want a dome but I’m not crazy about the sterile, corporate environment that will come with Brook Park along with more expensive tickets
It’s close to downtown, compared to other similar cities. It’s fine.
The Cavs played in Richfield before their current digs at the Rocket Mortgage Fieldhouse. I just don't think the Browns need a dome. Super Bowl's never coming here. Forget it. Current stadium is fine
Retractable roof
The only team that
Needs a Stadium
Is the New York Jets
as a clevelander idc im happy they're moving the stadium ,this new stadium will be closer to me , besides i want a dome , everyone who's complaining will still come , i know im going
Why? It takes revenue from a city that’s poor already. Devastating blow to downtown and the city
Bring the Gladiators name back to Cleveland.
I think it’s great for the area it’s a business move. They’re still the Browns and guess what you’ll be able to do park. What people can’t drive 14 miles away the fans act like they’re moving them to Columbus
I want Brook Park.
I would want them to win two games in a row before you give them a new stadium 😂😂😂
I want the New Stadium Downtown is too Congested Browns Forever 🔥🐶💥🏈👍😃✌️
This stadium won’t happen. Cuyahoga County officials have rejected it.
Angels baseball fan my whole life. We are 20 miles outside of LA and have that as our city name. None of it makes sense.
The whole Los Angeles Angels thing is stupid. They should’ve just stuck to the Anaheim Angels or the California Angels. Their ballpark is in Anaheim, therefore they should be the Anaheim Angels.
Browns will not stay by the lake, it's time for a move. It's a frozen tundra and the city knows it
Its close enough. I think it's great!
Take it to brook park
Build it on Burke Airport right by the current stadium and tear down the old stadium and use that land for parking? I would never take them 14 miles out of Cleveland
Burke Lakefront Airport sits on landfill and couldn't support the weight of a giant stadium unfortunately. Also, they'll never close that airport (unfortunately).
Brookpark Stadium Cleveland browns
DOME IS THE WAY TO GO !!
Use the stadium for Cleveland State University, they want start football team so lease it to university
They don't need no new stadium lol
Saying the current stadium is "fine" is like showing up with a dirty tank top and micro shorts the first time you meet your girlfriend's family
It's a horrible investment period.
The league has gone soft with all these domed stadiums.
It's still the Browns with a dead weight QB and a loaded, under-performing team.
🤡🤡🤡
Huh underperforming they were 11-6 last year
That Joe Flacco run was crazy
And they'll be a whole different team in 2028
If the weak Cleveland fans ever want to see major late season playoffs or a Super Bowl played in Cleveland a dome stadium is necessary.
Love it!
This is going to be great! Change the name to Brook park bowns. It sounds much better.❤😸😸😸😊😊😊😁😁😁
