The level "Kick it, Outmaway" is intended to be played by dodging the ice cubes the whole level, which grants you the Wonder Seed when he runs out of things to kick. Playing it that way is more fun than just killing him outright.

I tried to kill that Outmaway on my first try but I kept on getting blocked by falling ice blocks
I just melted the blocks instead of killing him or avoiding the blocks!
I never knew you could kill the Outmaway
9:08 The reason it stops the autoscrolling is because it's dousing the flames that moce the ship and block your path. You're essentially braking the airship.
That would imply that the level autoscrolls because the airship moves. But why would it? You are on the airship, so the relative speed stays the same. And other autoscroll levels don't move at all. Why is autoscrolling linked to movement only here and nowhere else?
@moritzlinden7169 Your relative speed as the character does stay the same. But the camera isn't on the airship. It could be an SM64 system where the camera is secretly controlled by Lakitu. He's sitting still in his cloud with his camera as the airship passes by him.
So according to @@Mr.Q_Dude the reason the game stops scrolling is because lakitu is too lazy to move his cloud

The “unreachable treasure” seed has to be one of the easier ones with the right badge, you don’t even need the invisible blocks
This is how I finish the level and I never knew the solution
Hurry, hurry is the easiest with jet run, and even then you just sprint you don’t even need a badge

The koopalings being removed hurts even more considering how their gimmicks could've been used in conjunction with the wonder effects.
It speaks to how uncreative the New Super Mario Bros. series has become that not bringing them back for this game is being called "removing them".
Honestly I'm glad they put checkpoints in the final test badge marathon. Ive always found challenges built around having to redo the same section constantly just to get back to where you were tedious.
Perhaps a "No checkpoint" badge could've been a compromise

Maybe like a pipe where it removes the checkpoints, and beating it gives you a secret medal
I think SMG2 did it best where you have two versions of the same level, one where you can actually practice, and another where you have to do it without checkpoints. It really sucks when you have to redo everything just to get one try at a new hard part.
This is an extremely common misconception I’ve seen about the disappearing blocks in the raarghs level… it’s not that they appear when you’re close to them, but rather they appear when you’re LOOKING at them. The info blurb on the loading screen says so right before you enter the level
To clarify though, it IS partially proximity based. Your vision only stretches a certain distance, and coming into direct contact will make them solid regardless of where you’re looking

Yeah when I was playing the game I noticed that they only appeared when you were looking at them. It was such an interesting and creative object 😊

I think the search party levels are actually really good, but only if you play online. They become this collaborative effort to find unfindable stuff, I had some very neat interactions in them.
I played most of them online and it did not help me at all lol.

the search party levels are actually quite fun when you're playing them online, which I believe was the intended way to play them.
They‘re also fun when playing solo, I had a blast figuring out the more obscure coins for 3/4 of those. He honestly just sounds kinda butthurt about it to me ^^‘
Agreed! But I do think it’s fair to rank them under the criteria of doing them alone, since online play is locked behind a paywall for the switch. It really annoys me that I spent $60 on this game, then to unlock a part of it, I also have to be paying for switch online. IMO if you own a switch, you should be able to connect to Wi-Fi, like how the 3ds did it. It’s crazy that I have to subscribe to something to connect to the Wi-Fi I pay for on a device I paid for
@@Eowyn126 I agree that switch online is stupid, but nathaniel has switch online so I don't see why he should rank them using your criteria. that's a you problem, not a him problem. what probably happened was that the idea of using online for those levels didn't cross his mind at all, so he went into them solo.

Some of these search park levels have some of the most evil placements like that one yellow toad block
In the level “Downpour uproar” the ending is slightly different depending on if you collected the wonderseed (from the wonderflower). The ending has a stormy theme, but if you collected the seed it’s back to sunny.

They do technically give a hint in the first puzzle park, there are some blue triangles pointing down in the vacinity of the hidden block but that is way too obscure!
Dang, I didn't notice that at all! The only reason I found it was because I was playing online, and someone put a stand on top of the block....I guess I would've looked it up anyway, but yeah, pretty obscure if you're not Yellow Toad

I do think the background detail in “Unreachable Treasure?” that outright tells you the solution is a cute enough detail to raise it up, though arguably you could say that makes it worse.
Fluff Puff Peaks Special Climb to the Beat may genuinely be my favorite level in the game and it’s one of my favorite Mario levels just ever😊

The "park" levels are really fun with online multiplayer. The constant coming and going of player means that they can help each other out. I've found myself playing those levels helping the constant stream of new players even long after the Wonder Seed spawned in
The Item Park one... I had an idea how to get the one where you drill through the wall, but no-one told me you could drill into the moving platform! That's one level I go into periodically to show people 'hey, there's a flower coin here', as I think it's pretty obscure and well-hidden, maybe too well-hidden.

3:36 Amen! I know people say that these mechanics should be their own levels, but I think it’s a smart idea to just experience them for a mini game as a sweet idea rather than a full on level that gets old quickly
Nathaniel you are one of the goat-tubers. You are one of the only people I was able to come back and watch constantly through the past five years. The fact that to this day you are still producing and even ramping up the quality of the videos is so great.
Playing during the game's launch and with online ON made the search party one of the most fun stages I played on this game, it's the moment that had me "oh okay, now I get why they added online to this game", it's super fun to figure out the solutions alongside the other players, and leaving clues to others so they can find the solution on their own too

Why does everyone hate the bowser junior fights? Because they are some of the best 2D Mario bosses ever with a unique and engaging fight each time the way each arena or gimmick is so different from the others makes them some of the best moments from such an incredible game. They are obviously not on the same level as the 3D bosses (mostly) but nothing is as the 3D games have the best bosses in gaming history. But I suppose this is another of my seemingly infinite controversial Mario opinions.
I think it’s because every other aspect of the game is a MAJOR improvement from other 2D Mario’s, while the Bowser Jr. bosses are just not as impressive as everything else was.
For me it isn’t about the actual fight mechanics, it’s just that every time it’s just Bowser Jr. it would be cool if the Koopaling sere there, or another varied assortment of bosses, so that every fight would have an original enemy.
I don't mind cuz BJ is my absolute favorite character across the series, but even without that bias, W6 Bowser Jr. is my favorite non final boss in a 2D Mario.

5:38 Because it's possible to (intentionally or otherwise) get to Jet Run II before Jet Run I, having the arrows at the beginning is important to make sure nobody's left floundering. (I should know, because this happened to me.)
“Hurry, Hurry!” is like that bridge in Super Metroid that you have to run over or it breaks from under you.
My favorite levels: Pirahna Plants on Parade, Swamp Pipe Crawl, Angry Spikes and Sinkin' Pipes, Another Uncharted Area: Swaying Ruins, A Final Uncharted Area: Poison Ruins, Jewel Block Cave, Dragon Boneyard, Evade the Seeker Bullet Bills
Honestly I loved the bowser part BECAUSE OF IT'S MUSIC

Honestly all the airship "bosses" should have required you to throw whatever enemies are nearby into the machine a few times(fun fact I messed around during the first airship boss doing this and the boss already gets stunned if it closes it's mouth while a bomb is there so they already have part of the required code there) though for the third boss the flying Mechakoopas would need some way of respawning(Maybe they just fly in from the ceiling and that's how they keep respawning to give you ammo to fight with)
I love the fact that Nathaniel already loves Mario Games, so when he's giving his opinion on some matter in the game, he's not trying to analyze it in some impartial, distant, "journalistic" way, he just says what's fun and what's not, like with the wonder effect of the dragon. It's just great because it looks and plays in a fun way, you don't have to overanalyze it
Ya know, your tone of voice seems to imply you think those earlier levels mentioned are just badly designed or something. They're not. They're designed around a single mechanic, or to play with others (search parties), or even just to have a small break and do a simple task.
I found them all very charming and helped to break up the flow of the main levels.
Yeah, I don't think the ranking was very fair. A bigger/longer level doesn't make a better level.
The reason why the Deep Magma Bog Flying Airship stops when you pull the pulley is those flames are exhaust flames, and when you pull the pulley, you're stopping the ship. I dunno why that specifically would stop an autoscroller, but it's sort oof a neat trick...

I’m sorta glad the Final Final challenge has checkpoints, because going through every single badge just to get to the unfair invisible one at the end and dying a lot would really suck
"Pipe Park" at 122 is weird. I loved this. Both secrets you mentioned where fantastic. I loved searching for them. Especially the "moving wall", which is obviously a pipe. And you know its possible to move pipes, so if you think abput it, its not that hard to get this. It felt super rewarding. Same goes for the other two searching levels.
Pipe park was the hardest one. If anything, I understand its low placement

OH MY GOSH! That was the one token I couldn't figure out! (I would have also struggled with the one where you walk into the blue wall and go into the foreground, but I had already watched the triggered video, so I knew what to do), then on a whim, I figured 'well, I tried pushing the pipes, standing on them, going in them... I haven't tried pushing this wall yet...' and ta-da! It worked! It just gets to a point where you've tried everything else and you just try something random and it works!
The "Lights out" stage actually gave me way more trouble than it had any right to
"An Empty Park" truly deserves last place, i hate it
32:36 use the Floating High Jump Badge and the level becomes a thousand times easier, trust me
The level spikey trial has the notes of song of storms as bubbles in the end.
playing the levels like "puzzling park" is so much more enjoyable if you're playing with other people's ghosts online, as they can make it easier to see the blocks
I disagree with your placement of Shova Mansion, I personally loved that level and found it one of the most memorable

Normalize having checkpoints at extremely difficult and challenging levels, some of us aren't as skilled and would still like to have a chance at beating them😅

So imagine those pulleys like this, the box you play in isn't actually moving but instead it's the airship, & so the pulleys are able to put the airship on hold for a bit as you're cutting the jets off, those jets are the thing controlling the autoscroller so when those jets stop, its kinda like you're telling the ship to stop

@@Marcuskwok-hn5yi I mean that’s to be expected. For 2D mario we’ve been used to pretty simplistic naming conventions for level names (e.g ‘world 1-1’) for a while now so it makes sense their actual names here don’t really commit to memory.
I love how in muncher field bowser is just watching you since bowser ship is right next to we’re the you enter the level
The search party levels are intended to show off the functions of multiplayer, helping each other out and placing standees for clues, which makes them slightly more forgivable in my eyes
Upshroom Downshroom, Secrets of Shova Mansion, Color Switch Dungeon, and more are being underestimated here.
I'm actually on the final-final test badge marathon right now. IT'S SO HARD! Especially the invisibility part.

I'm sad to see all the badges challenges ranked so low. They were some of my favorite levels.
Honestly, I think the ranking was a bit unfair. Of course smaller levels are going to feel like less than bigger levels! It's like being given a slice of your favourite cake, seeing someone else be given a completely plain, but whole, cake, and being upset you got a smaller portion - yes there's more of it, but it doesn't taste as good in comparison! The very first level is fun, yes, but playing with Jet Run in its level is more fun! If I wasn't prioritising helping people in the final gauntlet, I'd 1000% replay Jet Run Challenge over 1-1 any day!

Watching this video and hearing how mostly every stage is ranked based on how much Nathaniel likes a challenge, either i'm not good at this game, or he just wants to seem so good at Mario, nothing's challenging enough for hi... maybe it's both
I think the ranking was just unfair. First, short and sweet levels were given the short stick. Second, he didn't rank based on reasonable challenge, but on what he thought made a level 'stand out' - the semi-final challenge is possibly my favourite, both in challenge and design! The final challenge, while infuriating, is still a decent challenge where it just takes practice (I have online, ended up not needing help on my successful attempt (never used Yoshi or Nabbit for first clear)), but the final final challenge... GAH! SCREW THE INVISIBILITY BADGE! THAT WAS NOT FUN, NINTENDO! YOU COULD HAVE MADE THAT BADGE CHALLENGING WITHOUT MAKING US RELY ON PURE LUCK TO GET PAST THE BLIMMING BLOOMPS!

Im actually within the opposite boat with the search parties. I think theyre some of my favorite levels in the game. Some of them really require you to think outside the box

The Wiggler races were so fun. Same with Roller Koopa Derby. Least favorite level has to be the Special World level the Donut Mines level. Currently stuck on the final gauntlet...
