Thankyou. I like how you just have the control knob visible. I’ll check out the specs. I wasn’t sure if I was going to just transplant my existing brake controller from the old Prado into the new one. This is a much better set up. The controller that I have can’t be hidden as the controls are not remote from the unit. I actually hit my knee on it sometimes.
@@10tenadventures did they also install your UHF? I’m looking for recommendations as (like you) will be getting a brand new Prado. It makes me a little nervous workshops pulling apart a brand new car. (Plus I,m fussy!)
I’m doing the same in my 2021 VX. Am thinking of swapping the 2start and that blank, so the flip up lid for the cup holders doesn’t impede the break controlled knob.
Excellent idea! Wish I'd done the same... to be honest, it's not a huge issue, we rarely have anything in the cup holders, and never when towing (cups will still get in the way and you want clear access), but it would be good to have it open so we can just drop the van keys etc. in there
Thanks Malcolm, I'll see what I can put together (very simple to use, but a few interesting things there too). How soon do you get your trailer? I'll try and do it before then
@@10tenadventures Hoping before the end of the month. Really liked your idea of placing the control dial in the centre console so the passenger can help out, why didn't I think of that lol. I'm keen to see how it works in general but also how it works going down a low range steep track, not that I am suggesting you try that with your van :-)
I think I can help there, it's all about adjusting the braking level on the fly... as for positioning, main thing is to know where it is, and practice finding it in a hurry... if you hit the car brakes in a trailer sway situation, you'll likely crash!
We all start somewhere! If you are new to it check out my "this mistake cost me my car" episode (if you haven't already) some good info on weights, and how easy it is to get it wrong! Best advice I can give is get a mobile weighing company to weigh your whole set-up before you go on a trip, aside from overall weight, weight position is crucial to safe towing... too heavy at the rear, sway is inevitable, too heavy at the ball, you lose steering response in the car... unbalanced left or right can produce sway, brake issues, uneven tyre wear, alignment issues... once you have it worked out though, you'll get ti right every time

I had TJM instll mine there, can't help with a "how to" on that front unfortunately, but obviously enough it can be done 😀

They did, the pics they sent are terrifying, but came together perfectly

Would be interested in seeing a vid on how to setup and use the tow pro. I had one installed but haven’t taken delivery of our new camper trailer yet.

@@10tenadventures yeah I wasn't sure that trailer braking could help if you got sway - I am a self confessed newbie :-) - thanks for the tip!
