Did we make a mistake buying an imported van? Why is the Prado driving me crazy?
I know Land Rover cop a ribbing for reliability but they're about 7 years ahead in AD blue usage and 3 ahead in 48V systems. The Defender and Disco are bigger, faster, more economical, far superior in ride quality, hand better, have much more elbow room inside, have a 6 not a 4 (The inline 6 is a peach of an engine with minimal issues), deeper wade depth with 200mm more ground clearance and their 48V system is stored under the middle row seats, so the rear floor folds flat, even with a 7 seat config. Sure they're dearer but the price gap is getting closer, especially if you need to modify the 250 to be half as good off road.
Personally, I love the look of the classic defender, the new model is nice, but looks a bit plasticy... yet to actually drive one, but I would absolutely hold any judgement on reliability etc until I have
@@10tenadventures I've owned two Disco 5's and both were trouble free. Sadly I sold my second one and placed an order for a Prado. Mistake. Big time. Gutless heap of shit with no elbow room. Got another Disco on order now. 8 month wait. So now I'm walking to work in the meantime because it's faster than driving there in the Prado
@darrenprior6339 surprised you found the engine gutless, I thought it was the best part of the new model... although I don't find any problems with power in my 150, tows the caravan like it's not there, fuel economy is OK generally, but great when towing
@@10tenadventures I guess after coming from a 300hp 650nm straight six, the little 4 pot in the Prado felt like it was going to die by comparison.
I watched the video that OCAM provides for the prado 150 (which was published over a year ago) and had zero problems in my son's car. I checked to see that I had everything I needed before I started and then had the whole job done in a couple of hours. Would I recommend them? Yes - 100%. As with anything mass produced, you need to have a little mechanical knowledge and be prepared to deviate from the instructions a little, but overall I'm very happy with them. I also fitted a set to my GU patrol, and couldn't be happier. The only negative I have is the quality of the fixings, that will break the minute you point an aggressive electric tool at them, so be warned. I also took the time to actually rad the stickers on each piece, which tells you where they go (in advance).
The main issue I had was that I didn't receive the correct fittings, parts were missing, and I wasn't the only one (according to the outlet I collected the drawers from) what it now appears to be, is I received 2 left hand drawers, and none of the other fittings or front plate that would be packed in the Right hand drawer... hence 2 fridge slides. Overall, now they are in, I'm very happy with them, but there was a definite issue with their quality control for a while there (dealers statement, not mine)
Yes I would like a discount code as I intend to purchase a set soon
G'day Robbie, unfortunately this video didn't perform as well as I hoped, so no discount code linked to my channel sadly, but try SK10 or WILD, these are from other youtube channels I watch, see how you go
Biggest miss from toyota. They had so much time to get this one right and totally blew it. It's writing on the wall for the next gen hilux.
One might even say an imperial fisting...
You cant afford one so get off the budu
Not being an expert by any means on 4x4 it's not for me to make an informed view. I have a 23 Paj Sport Exeed with upgraded brakes and throttle controller thats it. We don't do off road and tow a new Jayco journey 16.67 pop top and it's bloody cheap to run. I've watch a few LC Prado clips and fuel is considerably high which is surprisingly. I find the new Prado quite basic looking for the high cost and couldn't justify it. Great review.
Thanks!, We looked at the pajero sport when we were moving away from the fortuner, unfortunately, while a great car, it fell short of the 150 series we ended up buying. Our fuel consumption is pretty good when towing a full size van (18l/100kms average, full time towing), was slightly better when towing the hybrid we had prior. But she is a thirsty girl when day to day driving 11.1 l/100kms.
Thus is the biggest shit box toyota has bought out and priced put of the market.
According to the dealer, Toyota have priced the new range to sit as close as possible to the 300 series so the top spec Kakadu is only a few $ less than the GX 300
ARB have brought out bull bars already. 60kg is weight limit lid of the rear box. See what has been done in Nth America to see what is coming to Oz in terms of mods - a lot coming. If drawers can be removed then that is battery accessible I would have thought on the rare occasion it needs checking or repairing. Some advice on next vid - turn of the wipers they are both noisy and visually distracting.
Thanks mate, wipers were not the only issue with filming either... audio got garbled too (was using phone for that bit rather than my regular cameras). I've seen the new ARB bars in pics but not in person, the GXL we test drove had a genuine bar in it, it didn't look too bad in the flesh... I got an email on Monday from Ironman 4x4, they also have a bar now. I'm keen to see what the other players in this space come up with design wise, and how they fit with the aesthetic of the boxier design of the 250. The 60kg issue is weird... i thought it was just the box too, but the dealership told me its the whole boot area in the Altitude (he was a bit clueless tbh, and I found out on Tuesday he just told me Toyota said no filming, apparently the original rep I was dealing with is still waiting on a response from them, no blanket no at all...may do a follow up vid once that comes through)
@@10tenadventures I don't disagree with the poor third row packaging (I have a new 250 GLX). When kids get older and don't need the third row will do the third row delete option which someone has come out with already (loaded drawers). If I was into serious 4WD would get the altitude but for occasional sand driving and basic 4WD and hauling family around it is fit for purpose for me. Some of the tech (safety included) is far better than the German manufacturers paying a lot more.
@SimonBush-t8m i was impressed with the interior and overall capability on road, the engine is another level on the 150 (the 8 speed box is a definite step forward) I did enjoy driving it, just too many unknowns (in my opinion) When it comes to serious offroad modifications... that said, Toyota don't build them to be modified, so it's a user sure rather than a Toyota issue
Bro, have you seen the price of what people want for a second hand 150 series with 100,000kms ? around 70K out of warranty, outdated stupid as fuck
you know whats even better, a good old 120 series - no gimmicks, no DPF, huge fuel range, better payload.
You're not wrong, but I love my 150, being so close to the end of the series, mine feels like toyota had fixed 99% of the issues by the time I bought it
Even better, a pajero for half the price and no melting pistons
I'm quite saddened by the discontinuation of the Pajero (the sport is not an equivalent). Until we find a better solution than EV, our 4x4s are going to be more and more compromised by emissions regulations rendering them unless in the long term... I'm quietly hopeful the progress in Hydrogen technologies will give us a viable "clean" 4x4 capable of long distances and towing... EVs will never get there, and there's nothing clean about the batteries, neither in their production, nor their disposal
Spend $100k to get a vehicle that you can't put anything inside of it, can't tow with it, can't put accessories on it, have to pay tens of thousands of more dollars"upgrading" it just to bring it up to a "standard" useful vehicle, have to deal with the extra seats, extra costs of the battery setup, looking to have the engine explode at 30 000km plus a plethora of electronics shitting themselves.......WOW, what a bargain!🙄 There's a very deliberate reason why TOYOTA is holding its cards tight to its chest when it comes to the technical information about these vehicles. They are trying to sell as many as possible before the truth and the reality of their capability actually leaks into the market! Buyer beware 😮
Unfortunately, Toyota aren't the only manufacturer in this boat... as stricter and stricter emission standards are enforced, all modern 4x4s are compromised and are not what they were...
Mate you're a nobody ok your uneducated opinion on this car does not matter to anyone ok, don't think you are some big time 4wd UA-camr.
I don't, but thanks for keeping the algorithm going!
Agree. This car is a disaster for the outdoors person. After bursting at the seams in anticipation of this vehicle, I finally got to drive it after leaving a deposit on one about a year ago. Straight after the test drive I went to Nissan and purchased a Patrol Y62.
Great car if Diesel is not a non negotiable
BS, you could not even afford a prado or Patrol, Fraud.
Great choice on the NISSAN mate👍 Won't be crying in your Weetbix after 30 000k with a blown engine unlike the overpriced TOYOTA 😮
@@docbob3030 Patrol is well sorted and a more capable vehicle all round. Some mods and they are unstoppable. And the price difference buys an awful lot of fuel. Toyota is going backwards.
I have a 21 Kakadu, I went and took the 250 Kakadu for a test drive last week and was quite disappointed. It has no KDSS, no rear airbag suspension and no shift paddles. The 250VX has gained a few goodies up from the 150 so the point of difference between the VX and Kakadu is very small. You are paying $15k extra for a big sunroof and a HUD. Handling wise with no KDSS I can feel it has more body roll than my 150. If you look at the Toyota website under the Prado it has this little Gem inserted there: "Indicative model and pricing only. Due to extended wait times, the final vehicle we can offer you and its price are likely to be different". So they can't even guarantee what spec you will be getting in 12 months. It is a really nice vehicle overall, but I won't be buying one. I will hold on for a year and see how things develop.
You and I are on the same page, I was in the GXL for my drive, far prefer my 21 VX.
First time visitor, I thought your 9 yo lost was a daughter, till I heard she was a Boxer… still sad but oh man.
Our boxers are as close to kids as we'll get, they are a huge part of our lives, so I get the confusion, we do talk about them like they are our children
Would have to agree with. you, wait to see if any other models come to Australia.
I think we'll see a lot of revisions in the next few years
I'll be getting the Kakadu in ad blue
Ha!
Biggest mistake you you will make.. then you will have that "Oh.. what a feeling."
Better off with a base 300
Inclined to agree 😀. That said, there will be a 12 month wait for anything ordered today, I'd be holding off until the 2nd or 3rd year of production... I believe a lot of the issues with the current design will be sorted out by then
Ordered a Kakadu and was told worst case scenario it'll arrive in 12 to 18 months.... In Perth WA and already seen a fair few 250s on the road.
Good strategy. I expect the 150 Prado to drop in price in the used car market by 2025, making it the perfect time to pick one up at a great deal.
May go the other way, the 150 2021 on is exceptional, if the 250 tanks, demand for the 150 may drive the 2nd hand market up
@ 27,000 new Prado 250s allocated for Australia, and 17,000 already ordered. With Aussies making big money from the housing boom, there’s plenty of cash to splash-price won’t stop them from buying.
@@jamesm6341 The same under powered noisy engine and ridiculous 7 seat boot might stop a few buyers?! Two people I know who placed orders cancelled once they saw 250 in person. Lots of stock available NOW.
And when has that ever happened @@10tenadventures
When we bought our 150, the wait times for cars were so bad 2nd hand models were going for more than new. Covid did some weird things...
At this point in time, it’s a big NO from me. 🍺
I agree, obviously, but I do have a friend who has bought one, and absolutely loves it, but it will never see any mods, not his style
If you needed to buy a new 4x4 WAGON with similar fuel economy for the same price as new Prado which one would you get?
Probably a base 300 series, starts around the price of the kakadu.... I'd hate the loss of some of the luxuries of the altitude, but still more comfortable than the 70 series which would be my next choice in a wagon. I wouldn't go near a Ford Everest, hear too many horror stories of engines blowing when towing
@@10tenadventures I personally believe the old adage, never buy the first (series 1) of a new release. There are always problems and now with all the new tech it’s playing out that way for most manufacturers.
100% agree there, just look at the DPF issues toyota is paying the price for now with the ongoing class action... the addition of AdBlue to the mix in the new model makes me wonder what will go wrong there
Bought one of these based off this video. Arrived today and fitted it. Happy with it. Thanks mate.
Great stuff! I'm still loving it!
I bought one for my gxl coz I have the wire in it and I put it but doesn’t work all…did I do something wrong?
Hi mate, you haven't done anything wrong, the GXL apparently needs a bit of wiring done... have a look at the Prado forums, they have a wiring diagram that will make it work apparently... unfortunately this was only brought to my attention after publishing the vid
@@10tenadventuresthanks for the info mate..😊
@philipsting let me know how you go!
Hi, did you do the vid on the booster install as I’m having issues and would be interested to see what you did. Cheers
I haven't yet, no... the wiring in the van is really well hidden, so need to work it out... weirdly, the sensor has no issues parked 10m away from the side of the van, I have the van tyre readings when I start my car every morning, towing however, lose it really quickly, so booster is definitely going in... will be very keen to report on its effectiveness
Hey mate, Does this also work on a 2011 vx?
Honestly, I can't say, might be worth popping the panel out and see if everything is there, just not sure it will fit the 2011 series, or work for that matter!
@@10tenadventures fair enough, I'll give it a go, thanks
Did you end up installing the Kaon transmission cooler that you were talking about for towing with the Prado. I have the exact same vehicle (Oct 2020 150 Prado with just 22500kms on it). Looking at Vans to tow with it so interested in your experience with the Nova? How hot does the trans temp get towing the Nova with the Prado? We are looking at the latest 2024 16ft Jayco Traveller Offroad van, ONLY because it’s Tandem Axle & just fractionally below the Max3 tonne towing limit of the 150 Prado. I won’t tow a single axle (for good reasons I won’t nor you with) or the Nova would certainly be on our list of potential candidates. You said your towing about 2500kgs Aggregate Mass on the Caravan, so fully loaded. The tandem Jayco 16ft Offroad Traveller is 2934kgs Agg Mass (loaded) so just below the GCM behind the Prado. Thats why I’m interested in Trans cooler details & what temps your auto trans is running at while towing (if you did install said Kaon trans cooler). I’d like to keep my trans temps below 80C while towing if possible? Is it worth adding a torque converter lock up kit for the 150 Prado when towing open highway to reduce slip & drop temps a little more? Just trying to do my homework before outlasting the cash is all. I don’t know why Nova don’t make a tandem axle couples off-road van for behind Prado’s at <3tonne Agg Mass, 🤷♂️ Not everyone who wants a tandem axle van has a 3.5 tonne Max Towing limit 300 series, or Nissan, or 76 series etc. Obviously Jayco have spotted that gap in the market & are now catering to it. Hopefully in time others might catch up and do likewise. Keen to see more on your Prado & Van adventures. If you ever get to WA with the Prado & Van & doggies, let me know & we will try & show you around with what the state has to offer. It’s difficult seeing everything on offer travelling with dogs, something we also found before our Border Collie passed a couple of years ago. But it can be done. Safe travels, sorry for the 101 questions. There’s a Prado build video on my channel if you’re interested. Can’t link it here or this comment gets deleted.
Hey Ian, a LOT to unpack here lol, but here goes, I haven't installed the Kaon Trans cooler, and truth be told, probably won't now... the 3 weeks towing in summer on open highways and through some pretty winding roads and hills in Adelaide, we had 0 issues with the vehicle or the van (bar the one teased issue that will be revealed at some point - the travel vids were not performing well, so I shelved them for a while) We tow in 4th, so no gear slipping or torque lockup required either (iirc the owners manual advised towing in 4th for this purpose) i don't have teps as wasn't running a scan gauge or similar, but might look at that for a future vid... no temp warnings at all during the trip, even on high 30s days on twisty hilly roads. The Prado towed the Nova like it wasn't there! I'd love to get to WA, we have travelled there before, but without van as had friends living in Australind who we stayed with. Sadly only 1 pup now, we lost Ember 3 weeks back to cancer I'll see if I can find your build vid, feel free to hit me up on the Facebook page/chat (link in the channel description) and I can answer more there/video call and go into more detail than I can here
Im wandering is this will work to toyota prado gxl 2018? Before buying it?
It will, but it's not plug and play like the VX, you need to modify some wiring, I'm not sure what is involved, but the Prado Forums might have some diagrams
@10tenadventures ok thanks for your advice 👍
A well made video, thank you for the info
Thank you! Appreciate the feedback
Hey Chris. Didn’t see much of a tour of the outside of the van in this video (apart from your earlier video showcasing the disc brakes and airbag system). I assume that it also has external cooking facilities as well internal? Also, I thought the Nova sales manager mentioned that they were installing 400Ah lithiums and matching double the solar (i.e. at least 800W) in your van but unless I got it wrong, Jim mentioned it had 2 x 150Ah batteries which for a van with all those electrical connections & gear, to me seems a bit on the shy side of battery storage capacity.
Hi Rich, no external "built in" cooking facilities like a slide out kitchen, we have a gas bayonet near the BBQ slide at the front which we use with our Ziggy, and occasionally we use a portable induction cook top on the fold down table. Van has 300ah of batteries and 600w solar on the roof. Thus far no issues with power except for running the aircon too long off battery which we didn't see battery consumption correctly on the monitor... issue was the BMS wasn't configured quite right so didn't report the drop in % correctly. Easy fix, and now seems to regulate correctly, but haven't run the aircon on battery since (no need to) but have run the heater in the combo hot water/gas heater unit all day and night with no issues
Fair enough Chris. I’d suggest that whilst you’re touring in the cooler months/regions and may not need your aircon, chances you’ll be wanting to give it the odd run if/when you head up the more northern areas. I lived at Lyndhurst down your way for a few years so I’m familiar with the weather down there. Looks like you might have space for some additional batteries under your bed to connect up with your current lithiums. Is this something you’re considering in the future? If so, I guess you’d might also be looking at increasing your solar input but you can achieve that with portable solar panels rather than fixed … just additional stuff to carry on board
Hey Chris. Only just watched this video now. Can you provide a ballpark figure of what the caravan cost you in the end and also its ATM? Also, has it been wired to allow you to run your aircon off your batteries? I carried out this upgrade in my 15ft hybrid and it was a bit of an ordeal (and additional cost in required materials) but so worth it.
Hi Rich, I'll get some figures off the plate but we have roughly 550kgs of available payload and max of 2800kgs. I did do a full weigh in before we headed off on our mini lap, plan to do a short video on the weights and a 6 months ownership update, but haven't filmed anything just yet... probably a trip coming up in a few weeks, so watch this space 😀
How much did the van cost you if upu don’t mind me asking Chris? My ‘22 hybrid cost me around $60K but I reckon I must’ve spent another $10K (??) or so bringing it up to current spec where its pretty sweet 😊
We paid 2022 prices, they've gone up considerably since then, so stating what we paid won't provide any real context, but it was more than $70k I can tell you that... a lot more 😆
As a fully Aussie built van with lots of fruit, I’d expect it to cost well in excess of $100K right up there with Urban caravans (which have an aluminium chassis as I understand). Buying my Chinese hybrid and spec’ing it up (and simultaneously doing the same with my new VX Prado) has been a good learning experience for me anyway as my first van. I look forward to your future travel series
@rich9903 you're on the money, it wasn't a cheap exercise... maybe one day I'll make some money off this youtube channel and put a dent in the repayments 😆 🤣
Thanks for the video. It’s really helped me decide not to buy Ocam drawers. I will go with Drifta. Aussie made and slip straight in. Heaps lighter too. That said, I hope now yours are finally in you enjoy them. 👍🍺
Thanks Darren, all in all the actual build quality is very good on the drawers themselves, unfortunately let down by the issues with missing parts and poor instructions. I did look at Drifta, but have some personal reasons for not looking going with them... I will be doing a follow-up video with a subscriber and his RV Storage Solutions set compared to the OCAM Drawers in the future, a bit more expensive than the OCAM ones, but they look the goods.
@@10tenadventures awesome mate. I look forward to the comparison vid. 👍
That was a mission. As you know, I installed the RV Storage Solutions and rate them very highly. There was a bit of assembly & I did make a mistake (or two) but they came together well. Now yours are in we can do a side by side comparison to show the viewers the options. Have to remember that the RVSS drawers were a bit more expensive too.
Yeah, I'm keen to do a side by side for sure!!! End of the day, it's all about consumer choice, and I'm all about letting people see what value they can get vs quality...
Gamer than me, i paid for my draws to be installed. I ended up getting RV Solutions Aluminium draws to save weight and they only used existing third row seat holes. For the third row of seats i individual stretch raped them and put board between them when i sta ked them on a shelf so the leather would not hopefully get damaged and labeled the plastic on on one of the seats for future reference of a weak spot that needed looming after Together with the original roof rack i am collectjng a lot of stuff for the original VX for future resale, taks up a lot of room I would not have been able to flllow the instructions for my draws either, they are just reminders for a reseller that has been trained, also i think better warranty if installed by reseller I really like mine, hope yours work out well for you
Joys of being a UA-camr... gotta do it myself LOL 😆 this was a lot harder than what I show in the video, I almost gave up
People are also forgetting their responsibility in regard to the vehicle handling effects and potential enforcement action taken in regard to that.
Absolutely, and these responsibilities are not stressed enough to learner drivers (if at all) and aren't in any license testing questions
Came back to this one for a rewatch, as are considering an MDC van. After we have done a few trips with out Prado 2023 VX and being rained out we are considering getting a small van. Something I thought I would never do. The model we are looking at is the Forte 9+ as are just looking to get of the ground with a little more room than say the Jaycar JPod. If you are still watching this thread, I have a few questions regarding the MDC The Forte 9+ is just wider than the model you have/had. -Did you use the Toyota factory mirrors for towing? Looks like you still have them on the car, but I suppose you could be using extensions. -With the rear door, can you still open it with a van hitched? I notice on the Facebook groups MDC problems with the Diesel heater and water system are common. Water systems always seem to be a problem in general among the people we know who tow. I notice KAON are making some new items for the Prado at this time, we are keeping a watch on them, but things like the side step water tanks may be a bit heavy for our standard suspension. My main problem with our Prado is dust getting in, especially on the rear door If you ever find an extinguisher bracket that works please add it to one of your videos. We have been looking but no solution so far. We may have to look into a transmission cooler as well, not sure for the van size we are getting. I notice you have your new van, a lot bigger than the MDC, I cant imagine trying to tow one that big. We have not towed before so a big learning curve if we get the van But we have to do a driveway upgrade to store the van as well and that will cost a small fortune. But I look forward to getting a small pod type van if we can.
G'day Mark, a lot to unpack here, but here goes (feel free to hit me up on our FB page (link in bio), I can probably get a bit more in depth there): Currently, I'm using clip on extension mirrors (can't remember the brand), but am talking to MSA as they are doing replacement mirrors that allow for the 3d cameras in the mirrors on the VX and Kakadu models... hopefully a review on the cards in the not too distant future if they do release them with the rear door, no, not on the MDC, yes with the new van Our diesel heater died, but was replaced under warranty, although I think a lot of the issues people are seeing is due to old fuel (diesel turns to jelly after a while apparently, and gums up the pump) still not sure if we are going any Kaon gear at the moment, but I'd agree with you on the sidestep tanks, even with a GVM upgrade, you'd blow out your weights towing with them full (if you haven't watched my "this mistake cost me my car" video, please do, as it will help you with understanding weights as a standard GVM Prado and Fortuna are not worlds apart when putting accessories like bullbars etc. on) haven't had any dust issues to date, gets in the gap, but not into the cabin, the door seals are top notch in mine thus far, if towing in 4th per the owners manual, trans cooler seems to be unnecessary, the 3 week full time towing trip had no issue at all Van size... yes, the new van is a bit bigger (16 foot instead of 13, but it is lighter, and tows better than the MDC, and is much easier to live with day to day. The fold out bed and setup time with the MDC just got too painful for short stays, after our 3 week trip with the new Van, Karla and I both had the same conclusion... we would have gone nuts packing up and setting up the MDC every 1 to 2 days (oh, and the electric awning, it's a selling gimmick in hind sight, the full manual awning on the new van sets up as quickly as it takes for the motor to wind out the MDC awning, and drop the legs) as for the driveway, I really need to do a follow up video, we moved house to fit the new van (we were planning on moving anyway, but a "this mistake cost me my house" video could be a giggle) I hope that helps! Cheers, Chris
@@10tenadventures Thanks for the very in depth reply. If the manual says "towing in 4th gear" I had better read the manual :) So that scan gauge purchase will be a must. I have been holding off purchasing too much till we had done a few trips. I will talk with the other half to get in contact with you on facebook as I dont have an account. Interesting about the MSA mirrors as I was in ARB Moorebank today asking about mirrors and they indicated only Clearview had fully compatable mirrors for the VX that included the heating option. [dont even know how to turn that on yet, possibly with rear window heating] Thanks again and hopefully get a facegroup post to you in a few days Regards Mark
@marklaurendet1861 easy as, yeah, MSA mirrors are still in development, and when you turn on the front demister, that does your mirrors too 😀
@@10tenadventures I made a reply via your face book page, via message. Hope that is correct as it was my first time using Face Book. Took me two goes. First go I tried to make a paragraph line break be pressing enter and it just sent the first two words. So I dont know how to break up the body of text. If there is a better way to add test for a message or something please let me know.
This video goes thru some details of the different driving modes, and seems like steering is stiffer in sports mode ua-cam.com/video/SwpJjtD82Do/v-deo.html
Where did U get it from? Does it work on 2020 Prado VX model?
It should work on the 2020 model, if you have the updated 150kw engine (may work on the earlier 130kw, but not sure) there should be a link in the video description to amayama www.amayama.com/en/part/toyota/8471160030
@@10tenadventures K. Thanks mate. Mine is 130kw
Looks like a fun and easy upgrade to do in Vx! Do you still use from time to time or cant be bothered anymore?
Use it a lot when towing, and if overtaking on the freeway, it comes in handy
@10tenadventures is the sport mode from throttle control module same as shifting right in D?
No, it is a remap of the throttle response, holds gear changes longer, but still automatic shift through all gears
@@10tenadventures Thanks mate, ordered!
@@l_2107 you'll love it! You may need to reorder it as mine got cancelled the first time
Just thought I’d clear something up I know this is an old vid so u might have since realised but with the communications with emergency services well you can’t communicate with them you can listen in to there comms if there on the old analog system but you can’t talk back to them it will not let u as that’s illegal. And you can’t listen to the flying doctor as they use hf the only way I know of to directly talk to emergency services mainly the flying doctor is the hf mainly the old codan hf but there Under licence so not anyone can own one.
100% correct, what there are, are localised dedicated channels that the app will allow you to see. These are open public channels monitored by emergency services, allowing you to contact them. Not all regions have it set up, but the app on the phone will let you know (so long as bluetooth connected to radio, no mobile data required).
@@10tenadventures where are these localised dedicated channels in the app as I would like to have a look I’ve never seen them and I’d say I’m pretty familiar with the app by now
@andreweather965 honestly, I've only seen then pop up periodically, and since the last app update, I can't find it at all...
@@10tenadventures yeah because I know it’s got a repeater tower locator and a input and output Chanel list then the zoning list cb Chanel list the map a way point option then the username option. But a general rule that’s existed since the start of the uhf 477mhz is Channels 5 and 35 are emergency Channels and a lot of the times are connected to repeaters so it inputs a transmission on one channel and throws it out on the other channel when in duplex up to 200km away and these channels are monitored by police and other emergency services
Agree 100% with the service from MDC. Just sold my cruiser highside camper trailer and purchased a 13 foot hybrid Wander Series caravan. At the start i will say I'm happy with the new van, but not Wander Series customer service. Had a bad start, picked it up and got home to Exmouth to find the back wheel bearing and hub had completely destroyed itself, they left the split pin out and it self-tighten until it destroyed itself. OK, they did a good job in sending up from Perth to Exmouth their service guy, all fixed, great service there. But, that's where it ended, on my second camping trip, a few small issues. Broke 2 cupboard door hinges, another door latch fell off, hose to outdoor kitchen burst, fridge slide fell off, all easy fixes, but on the second last day, the water tank sprung a leak, no water for day and half. Even after photos and videos, easy to see leaking from seam, still didn't believe me, said I need to tow VAN back to Perth, 2600k round trip, plus accommodation for them for them look at it, will not even agree to send 2 door hinges, will not even agree to just send water back, no, want the hold van, they refuse to do anything. Have rewelded the tank myself, brough pack of 10 hinges for $25, will fix that. Moral of this story, DON'T BUY A WANDER SERIES CARAVAN.
Sorry to hear you've had that experience, MDC were great with us, and Nova (our new van) have also been great, would absolutely consider both brands in the future, but I'll admit I'm very wary af a lot of brands out there
Now I’m really confused …
You and me both... according to Ronny Dahl, it's 100kgs, but again, no official word from toyota, so take it with a grain of salt
Never used one. But off to Cape York soon. I'll definitely be buying one and using it. Good review👍
The Cape will be a torture test for it! Love it! Let me know how it goes
Got one, not used so far but will on a decent water crossing.
Let me know when you have used it, would love to get other peoples opinions on it
Give us updates on your thoughts on the new Van periodically 👍
Next episode she goes in for the 1000km service, and final episode we give our thoughts on how it went over all (hint, we still love it 😀)
Dont flush toiletpaper. Problem solved
Thanks Colin, personally, I'm not a fan of bagging my used shit tickets and carrying them in the van until finding a place to dispose of them, but to each their own... I know it's how it is done in some countries, but I'll flush 'em
Nice. Good fun.
Sure was, worth checking out the video for the previous run we did, that was hectic!
Vicgov is trying to ban 4x4s from this spot right now.
I wasn't aware of that, but honestly doesn't surprise me, I won't start a political thread here, but, in my opinion, the Andrews and Allan government has been the most anti 4x4 we've seen, and I personally think it's because of pressure from the far left and greens... but I'm just a humble youtuber, what would I know 😀
@@10tenadventures Yeah, no worries. Look it up. Theyre in their phase of "consulting the community" but we all know its a forgone conclusion. I only raise it because its about time Australia outgrew its apathy...
I will, thanks for the info, I see a somewhat polarising video in my future 😀
Excellent tip. I use it all the time when travelling with someone else.
Cheers! We do the same, almost always group/convoy on the main channel, and channel 40 on monitor
It happens to us all
Overestimated the size of my pole....
Very informative article
Cheers!!
