i like how switchblades, especially the italian stiletto ones, are almost always associated with villains. probably part of what makes them so cool to use.
I'll bet they're illegal because of all the liberal bullshit that seems to be rampant there. Only there can we see actors mishandling and glorifying guns on film then whining and crying about banning them after they've collected their paycheck. Expect knives to be any different?
There's two switchblades in an Eddie Murphy movie called I Spy from 2002. Both times used by Famke Janssen's character during interrogation scenes. The 1st time she pulls an AKC Concord on Eddie Murphy and cuts his belt (and threatens to cut off his penis), the second time she uses some sort of kriss swinguard, and does the same thing to Owen Wilson. Interestingly, one of the main plot points is a jet called the Switchblade which has wings that operate like a switchblade.
4:55 Tom Cruise in collateral is a Chris Reeve classic lefty Sebenza framelock. It’s a manual opening knife not an auto. Still cool videos you’ve put together tho.
Switchblades are not screwdrivers or prybars or lockpicks. Assisted knives are not switchblades. They are not any more dangerous than any other knife. The force required to activate the switch of an actual switchblade, is about 5 pounds. Automatic knives that don't have a slide, usually have a safety. Removing the stopper from an otf switchblade would not allow the knife to penetrate anything very deeply upon "shooting" out. Anybody who owns one knows that they often can't even pierce cardboard on their way out. Our right to keep and bear arms is not to be infringed in any capacity. Any and all anti-weapon and anti-gun laws are not constitutional.
@@jordanmanzanares7247 dude 6 years ago but the comment thing still works. like the comment under u is the guy who points out the anime hentai scene with the knife. idk man its kinda magic
Too bad nobody seems to know the difference between a switchblade and an automatic knife...or that the knife in Collateral wasn't a switchblade OR an automatic knife.
I thought 'automatic' was the broad technical term. Whereas 'switchblade' is the US slang, 'flick knife' is the British slang, 'cran d arret' is the French slang... So what is the difference you see?
I’m sure you covered it but I’m trying to figure out the white handled switchblade from the scene in rebel without a cause where the hood slashes Deans tires. I’m thinking Mauro Mario picklock.
Some of these knives are not switchblades. Some are spring assisted others are OTFs and a few are Butterfly knives. If you’re going to have a collection of scenes with knives don’t label them all switchblades. Plus 5:12 is not a switchblade it’s a Russian NRS-2 Ballistic knife.
The sound of a switchblade is like the sound of hitching a shotgun both are iconic
4:22 eargasm
and a garand ping

That’s why they were made illegal in many countries and states in the first place.
Got & Frank B abalone scales and it is one of my favorite blades works flawless every time & very attractive.
I the bet switch blades are illegal in California because their so popular in movies.
The Destroyer they are i live in californi and mostly every ganster got a knife like switchblades
They're legal, unless their blade is shorter than 2 inches.
Peter Andreev i believe you mean longer

i love how you included the full part of anchorman so i could hear,
"Brick, where did you get a hand grenade?"
-"I don't know." haha priceless.
As a knife collector, I approve this.
The grinch growing up on the mean streets of whoville with a Switchblade 😂
3:33 best scene ever
The old Italian stiletto (a' mulletta napulitan') is always the most iconic.
Oh yeah. Will always be😊

3:35 switch blades and butterfly knife
yooo that shooting switchblade is cool wth
5:11 that’s a ballistic knife, not a switch blade….
butterfly knives are considered a form of a switchblade and are illegal in California. So yeah....still counts.
@@techfrank2431it being illegal is irrelevant, they’re still switchblades as a ballistic knife!
1:22 Frank was on his shit long before Paddy's lmao
Awesome -- there is also a switchblade used to nice effect in DIRTY HARRY.

All the OTFs are microtechs 👌👌
Some are vintage french otf
0:13 noooooo hes destroying the knife broooo, this is why we should always carry a multitool
Amen. It’d be one thing if it was a cheap knife but it was a microtech halo 2. Very nice and about $350 when they were still being made.

The Grinch carved roast beef with a switch blade? 😂
Yep..with a Kris style blade at that
That wasnt a switchblade in the Wrong Turn scene. It's just a pocket knife
A favorite for me is the Birthday cake scene in Luc Besson’s 1990 film NIKITA.
Anyone else opens their switchblades in time with the video?
4:51¡ qué elegancia la de Francia!
That clip with Tom Cruise is from Collateral and there he got the Sebenza. Sebenza is a manual folder, not the switchblade
I think switchblades are used to pick locks and to scare people

In Collateral Tom Cruise uses a Chris Reeve Sebenza
Props for Spartan. What about the most iconic in my time, The Outsiders fountain scene?
The knife in Collateral was a Sebenza, not a switchblade
Nice recopilation
A lot of these knives are OTF (out the front) knives. Meaning the blade springs out of from inside the handle

Um seriously. Only about half of these could be officially labeled as switch blades. The rest are either automatic knives or assisted opening knives.
Were is Clint Eastwood in Dirty Harry ( black horn bayonet stiletto )
One movie sound effect they weirdly don't exaggerate... I'm mean, except for Tomb Raider.
switchblades are nise knifes
Why do so many multi million dollar movies use such cheap crappy knives?
Horizon Bladeworks don't fu k with a switchblade no matter how cheap

Some of these aren't even switchblades. They're spring assisted pocket knifes
