Very pretty Mrs Gay., this is something i enjoied when i was growing up. We had what my mom called a plum thicket in the back yard, it was really a whole bunch of plum trees that gave us gallons of red plums, we children had to get out there and pick them. It was a lot of work but it was worth it. Mammas plum jelly was some good stuff!🙏❤️🙂
Good morning.. I love plums and I need to get some next time I go to the Farmers Market. The color is amazing. I find canning and freezing a lot of fun and calming.
I just love canning....well...almost anything to do with cooking...minus the ever present clean up!!! lol thank you for watching today!! God bless you!!!!
Beautiful color never made plum jelly but I did just finished some prickly pear jelly and it looks a lot like plum jelly color and it’s delicious thanks for the video plum jelly is next on my list have a blessed day.
Good morning, Rick! I've never had prickly pear! But ....as jelly has sugar in it, I'm sure I'd love it!!!! lol Have a wonderful day....say howdy to the bunch of Smith girls!!!! God bles you!!!
Thank you so much! I do love to make jelly. Started with my Grandma in the 60s when she would have me and my sister help with crabapple jelly. Talk about tedious prep! Thank you for this lovely video.
Just happened upon this today. I've got 8 quarts of plum juice frozen, some pulp in it yet. I didn't have time or the ambition this summer to make jelly but I'm planning to this winter. I would want to strain the pulp out? Your video will really help. I wish that 65 years ago I would have paid more attention to mother making plum jams and jelly.
BOOTS AND BONNETS WITH CHRIS & CHRISTY thank you! Those pies your mom made look amazing! I’m gonna make her crust and pie. Ill give your channel a shout out when I do 😄.
That jelly looks beautiful, you made a lot, do you still have some left or did you give it all away Gay. I have never had plum jelly, I do apple and grape, believe it or not the concord grape is my favorite but that won't be happening around here until end of Sept., early Oct. same with the apple. Do you ever test it to make sure it gels before you can it, I do just to be on the safe side since I had a whole batch of apple that did not set for some unknown reason, but every one had problems that year.
Looks good. I'm not familiar with canning, it seems expensive and complicated with all the stuff you have to buy and like a lot of work. Though I always wanted to get a garden and start canning so my vegetables.
You have an initial expense....but only one time. It's so rewarding....the feeling of accomplishment.....and food in the pantry!! Thank you so much for watching!!!! God Bless you!
Santa Rosa plums were my favorite plums years ago. I haven’t seen them at the stores for years and rarely buy plums anymore. To me they don’t have much flavor unless you know which one are good. Tips?
Now if I could keep my husband out of the plumbs to make jam or jelly as he is fiend for plumbs and I don't know why he hasn't planted a tree by now. This in one of my favourite jams on toast xxx
Your concern is noted....but....I've never had metal shavings in my jelly....and I don't sell jelly or anything else. By the way....I am 72....been cooking forever. Never hurt me!
@@ApronstringsGayJordan Just because you can’t see the debris flaking off into your final product doesn’t mean it’s not there. All jokes and jabs aside, this is a great recipe. If I could post a picture in the comments of my wild plumb jelly I would. Good stuff girl.
You did a great job explaining everything and demonstrating how to do it!
Glad it was helpful! I love it when I’m helpful!!

I strained mine. My daughter likes the pure jelly, not jam per say! You can make you some delicious jelly!

Susan Ryman I don’t really know. The dark colored ones of these were sweeter. I am really pleased with how it turned out. 😳

@@ApronstringsGayJordan really good on sharp cheese too
Would this work for golden plums ?
I am sure it would. I personally have never used them...but, you use the juice, so if the amounts are correct it should work just fine.
❤
Thank you, again!!!!!
How many pounds of plums did you start off with please?
I don't really remember. I think about 10 - 12 pounds.
@@ApronstringsGayJordan thank you very much. I enjoy your videos so much. I also have red in my kitchen. Just love your kitchen, just beautiful.
@@5GrammyBear5 red is my favorite color!!! I hope your jelly turns out good. A few extra plums makes the juice have a stronger flavor. It’s yummy!!!!!
About how many pounds of Plums does it take to make one batch of Jelly ?
I apologize....I don't know.
That’s ok. I enjoy your videos
You left the plums whole?
Yes, I did. They get soft in the boiling process....
How many pounds
It has been a while....I think I bought 12 -15 bs. I like the juice very strong.
You did not say how much water to add
Thank you so much for watching! I actually do not remember. I always go by the directions in the sure jell package. I apologize that I don't remember.
