Thanks for being a good teacher. I made jelly with my grandma that was a long time ago. But when you are given a lot of fruit you make jelly. We always used sure jell. Works every time. Thanks for the help.
Thank you very much for this video. I have made jellies before, but never plum jelly. You make it look very easy and I will try it within the next couple days. I’m sure it will be great! 😋
just made this out if blueberries, strawberries, cherries, rose, red clover, and daisies :) we'll see how it comes out tomorrow. Thank you!! This video made it so easy... the pectin paper was a little overwhelming for me :O
So glad I found you! I make wild sand plum jelly here in Tx. and I don’t pit those plums. Had some big red plums and wasn’t sure I could leave the pits in. I read that the pits supply pectin, too. Thank you! I’m going to make the juice and freeze it, too, until winter. Do you make wild sand plum jelly?😊
When I make jelly if I don't have enough juice I will add some bottled juice like cranberry or grape. Works really well, the remaining juice doesn't go to waste because we drink it, and it gives the jelly a nice little taste of the juice I used!
My mom use to make plum jelly and my husband loved it. I have decided to give it a try and surprise him. How long does the jelly last without the water bath? So glad I found your channel! You make it look really easy. Wish me luck! ❤️ I forgot to ask, how long does it take it to jell, you just make it and let it sit and it jells over time? Sorry for all the questions, but I am starting from zero experience making jelly.
I still have some from over a year ago. I keep mine just on a shelf in the laundry room till we open one and then we put in fridge. Good luck. You can do it 👍😊
I always reuse the lids, carefully remove them from the jar and wash. Before I reuse them, I boil them in water with about a tablespoon of baking soda. Done this for years.
You are aware that the Extension service said that you can reuse canning lids over and over again as long as the previous sealing didn't leave a big divit in the rubber? The lid manufacturer has changed the way they make the lids, so they are reusable now. With liquid Sure Gel it calls for 7 cups of sugar and the powder 5 cups of sugar, so they aren't the same. Just thought I'd help out with a few issues.
@@BootsAndBonnetWithChrisChristy of course! There is just so much to learn with film and what not....I just asked my buddy who's wicked honest to tear into my newest video, and I got so much awesome feedback.
Thank you for your recipe step by step instruction on how to make that plum jelly . My first try and it went well, very pleased .
Thank you. Blessings 💕😊
I love this video ty for sharing 😉👍

Good recipe. I took my leftover pulp and made 6 half pints of plum butter. 😊
This sounds great too. Will look up a recipe for plum butter! 😊
Thank you. Great idea 😀
That is pretty jelly. I've never had the plum. And, I never knew to turn the jars over to help seal. Interesting!😄
You must try it ❤️
Thanks for the recipe 😋

I am New at this!! Thanks for a simple step by step process. Yezzer buddy think I can do this.

This is the way mother-in-law taught me to do it. Came out beautiful!
Thank you. And thanks for stopping by 😊
Plum jelly is something they would eat in a Disney Channel movie which is awesome and fantastic 😇❤️
😂❤️
This is a great old recipe. Thanks for sharing. That is a bunch of jelly.
Yes and that is only the beginning 😳
👍🏼👍🏼 Excellent

Thank you! This was helpful!
Thanks so much! This is great that there’s no need to take out the pits. Does the juice taste as strong as it would with the pitted fruit.
Iam from Texas too!
It is perfect. No need to take out pits 👍

It will last about a year. Yes it will jell on its own. It takes about a day but does get firmer.
Awesome. Thank you!
😊❤️
Thanks for the tutorial. Very easy to follow. What is the shelf life for jellies without a water bath?
Also, is there a certain type of butter that you recommend for aiding in no foam?
Just regular REAL butter. It usually keeps a year or so but with our bunch it is usually gobbled up long before then. 😋
Thank you for the recipe! We followed it step by step to make our first batch. If you freeze your plums, do you thaw them before you start?
No. I just rinse well and start cooking 😍
How long before you can use it? I love this recipe! It was so easy!!
I usually wait about a month but you may use right away. Blessings ❤️
Well done!
We re use lids even from store bought jars and it works great just rebuild them. They always pop n seal back.
Ball pectin works way better then sure-jell. Every time I use sure-jell it never sets up but ball pectin has never failed.
Mary AL Thanks for stopping by. Have a wonderful day and enjoy that jelly 😊
I made the jelly but it is soft set. I cooked it for the minute but should i have cooked it longer?
The longer it sits the more it jells. Blessings. 💕
Going to try this weekend - how long would you say the shelf life is without a water bath? how do you store it? First time jelly maker here :)
I still have some from over a year ago. I keep mine just on a shelf in the laundry room till we open one and then we put in fridge. Good luck. You can do it 👍😊

Rosalie Finkley Thanks for stopping by and welcome 😍
If you don't have a strainer, bubble bags work great for fleshy stuff that takes forever with a strainer.
Can you make preserves with the leftover plums?
Just seen your video, going to make jelly tomorrow, one question, why turn it upside-down for 5 minutes?
I do this to keep the seal hot for a few minutes. Enjoy 😊
If you do the exact same steps/method with Blackberries will it be seedless blackberry jelly, or is there additional steps for that?
Yes. Look at the little paper that comes with the sure jell and it will tell you how much sugar is recommended. Good luck 😋
Perfect for Brock's Jellied filled donuts. 😁
🥰🥰
Is that a purple leaf variety? I love that one so very much!
We have a methley. It’s my favorite.

Did u say u have video on how to make peach jelly or peach preserves? If so, where do I find it? Thanks
I have made peach but have not made a video. It is a favorite. Blessings ❤️
Thanks for replying. I found videos on making peach jelly.
How long it take for jelly to get firm?
Let rest a day or two.
Thanks
How many pounds of fresh fruit do you use for this recipe? And how do you determine how much water to add to the fruit? 😊
I usually use a Ziploc gallon size bag full and then cover the fruit completely with water. Blessings ❤️
Can the juice for later

How long for the ping to seal?😊
You should start hearing them ping pretty quickly. Blessings 💕
Is pectin needed for jelly or jam
Yes. I put it in there.
I didn’t know that butter would stop the foaming!
It really helps.
You should have included some of the plumbs in your thumbnail!
You clearly do this really right with fresh fruit, so you should show that off :)
Yes! I should have. Thanks for stopping by 😍

How can you fix plum jelly that does not set?
If you don’t add the pectin it will not set. It will be like a syrup. Just leave it out.
You should watch geek charming on Disney plus if you have Disney plus
Why are you pouring it into multiple measuring jars?🤔
I do this at the beginning to make sure I have an even amount for each recipe. If I need to add water I do it at the beginning so not to dilute it.
Ty you
❤️❤️
How long they last?
About a year
How long do you have to keep it in the fridge because I made a lot? Thanks
Don’t have to put in fridge till you open
@@BootsAndBonnetWithChrisChristy thanks
Can you double this recipe?
It is best to do one recipe at a time. Blessings ❤️

Can u use the pulp or meat of the plums for jam?
I heard of some doing that. I never have. Thanks for stopping by. 😊
Did you say how much sugar per plums?
Yes alway follow the recipe that comes with your sure jell.
you take the seed out
Yes👍
