She reminds me of my grandma. I'd give my life's savings to see my grandparents again.

Thank you for your help I have 65lbs of plumbs this year so far. and I just took 15-20 lbs and made about 24 pints of jelly. It took about 5 hours as it was my first batch ever but that included washing all the dishes afterward too. I appreciate the knowledge and craft you have passed on here. I’m 50 but you were very helpful in discussing the whole process👍

That is pretty jelly. I've never had the plum. And, I never knew to turn the jars over to help seal. Interesting!😄

When I make jelly if I don't have enough juice I will add some bottled juice like cranberry or grape. Works really well, the remaining juice doesn't go to waste because we drink it, and it gives the jelly a nice little taste of the juice I used!

Thanks for being a good teacher. I made jelly with my grandma that was a long time ago. But when you are given a lot of fruit you make jelly. We always used sure jell. Works every time. Thanks for the help.

just made this out if blueberries, strawberries, cherries, rose, red clover, and daisies :) we'll see how it comes out tomorrow. Thank you!! This video made it so easy... the pectin paper was a little overwhelming for me :O

Ball pectin works way better then sure-jell. Every time I use sure-jell it never sets up but ball pectin has never failed.

My mom use to make plum jelly and my husband loved it. I have decided to give it a try and surprise him. How long does the jelly last without the water bath? So glad I found your channel! You make it look really easy. Wish me luck! ❤️
I forgot to ask, how long does it take it to jell, you just make it and let it sit and it jells over time? Sorry for all the questions, but I am starting from zero experience making jelly.

Thanks so much! This is great that there’s no need to take out the pits. Does the juice taste as strong as it would with the pitted fruit.

Thanks for the tutorial. Very easy to follow. What is the shelf life for jellies without a water bath?

    • @kathrynnsteele7662

Also, is there a certain type of butter that you recommend for aiding in no foam?

Just regular REAL butter. It usually keeps a year or so but with our bunch it is usually gobbled up long before then. 😋

You are aware that the Extension service said that you can reuse canning lids over and over again as long as the previous sealing didn't leave a big divit in the rubber?
The lid manufacturer has changed the way they make the lids, so they are reusable now.
With liquid Sure Gel it calls for 7 cups of sugar and the powder 5 cups of sugar, so they aren't the same.
Just thought I'd help out with a few issues.

If you do the exact same steps/method with Blackberries will it be seedless blackberry jelly, or is there additional steps for that?

    • @BootsAndBonnetWithChrisChristy
      @BootsAndBonnetWithChrisChristy  3 роки тому +1

Yes. Look at the little paper that comes with the sure jell and it will tell you how much sugar is recommended. Good luck 😋

You should have included some of the plumbs in your thumbnail!
You clearly do this really right with fresh fruit, so you should show that off :)

I do this at the beginning to make sure I have an even amount for each recipe. If I need to add water I do it at the beginning so not to dilute it.
