    That tractor looks so much better with the wide tracks set on the 120 inch spacing compared to the more commonly seen narrower spacing.

    It's hard to believe they make field cultivate 60 foot wide and 36 row corn planter technology has come a long way since the 4 row corn planter.

      I grew up pulling 60 foot wide spring tooth and rod weeders in the 80s. We also had a 60 foot wide John Deere grain drill on the farm. We pulled it all with a John Deere 8630 putting out around 430 hp, and a John Deere 8640 putting out around 475 hp.

    I have to chuckle at the responses you get from the younger operators during your cab rides. Ho-hum, yeah it’s really great,(yawn)…. Give those young guys an 830 John Deere with a 20 foot wide offset disc for a week. Maybe a fender mounted umbrella for creature comfort… Then put them in a new 600+ horse tractor with all the bells and whistles and see how excited they are..😂

    Do they use the GPS to match the corn planter over the subsoiler shanks? Breaking the compaction in the root zone so the corn can reach down for moisture makes sense to me.

    I run a 43'6" JD 2680H high speed disc over the corn stalks in the fall , NH3 applied in the spring with an 18 knife applicator, field cultivated with a Case IH 45' field cultivator, Plant with JD 1775nt 16 row corn planter. Pull everything with a JD 9470R except planter, which I use a JD 8R 310

    Non farmer here. Why use the field cultivator vs a high speed disc?

    • @timgear9892
      @timgear9892 8 місяців тому +1

      High speed disc is more for sizing the trash and smoothing out ruts, not burying the trash...Field cultivator digs out weeds by the roots, does more weed and trash burying,, and also smooths out the field leaving it more black...It will NOT size the trash and break up clods as the disc does.

    How many acres a hour did he say he could do?

    • @bigtractorpower
      @bigtractorpower  8 місяців тому

      He can cover 50 acres an hour. This field that I filmed the tractor in was exactly 50 acres and he knocked it out and just under an hour. He mentioned that he was able to cover 750 acres in a day of open running. He was out in a field that was just under 800 acres. So he had non stop running for 15 hours.

    These kind of speeds with this much horsepower and I'll bet you the field cultivator will have cracked factory welds all over it. I've owned many and know for a fact JD does not make their equipment strong enough to handle high speed nor high horsepower. But they sure charge like they do.Proof is also at farm machinery sales with these cultivators. The very back longitudal beams where they are welded at the last beam running the width always cracks.

    They would be Better Off running a Soil Finisher with that much Residue, especially if they run 1/3-1/2 of their Acres with Wheat & DC Soybeans.
    People don’t realize How Much Horsepower Field Cultivators & Soil Finisher Require, especially when running them Deep. That Cultivator will STOP that Tractor in its Tracks if ran Deep Enough.

      @@gregjames5070 I’ll tell you exactly how they got to be a Successful Multi Generation Farm is that they OUTBID Neighbors on Cash Rent and Roll Machinery every COUPLE of Years and NEVER OWN it.
