    Thanks for your time on the presentation. I did take some value from it. I wanted to note that summer months are not the best production months in hot places. I produce more in fall and spring due to temperature derating on the panels

    How come solar panel companies base the price of the system on the kw a panel can produce in theory rather than the kw the microinverter will allow?

    Disagree regarding your REC - Qcell comparison. Comparing STC data for both panel types and doing a cost comparison on each isn’t going to paint the full picture of total output over the life of the system. REC is a substantially more robust and efficient panel (Alpha series) that has a substantially lower temperature coefficient. Not to include the massive differences in warranty and support.

    Any update from Generac on the Snap RS replacements?

    • @IndependentEnergyHawaii
      @IndependentEnergyHawaii 11 місяців тому

      We have gotten all of the SnapRS02 replacement parts for our Generac systems. If you are a customer push your contractor to submit a claim in genservice. If they aren’t sure what that is they need to talk to their regional Generac rep.

    One thing I have heard about is horror stories about power surges taking out entire Enphase systems where the surge is greater than what the warranty covers. Is there a way to mitigate future large surges coming in from the power provider side? aka when someone hits a power pole with their vehicle. If a the Enphase inverters failed due to a surge how would they know if a larger than normal surge killed the components. It would suck to have to cover all the microinverter replacements and labor for something that was completely out of your ability to control or mitigate.

      @@Bowhunters Thanks for the reply. If I can take anything from what you said. Is that we need to ensure that the system is properly grounded all the way to the ground. If the grounding system is done properly.... again properly being the key word there shouldn't be much to worry about in regards to a power surge "killing" an entire system?

    My kids are buying a new construction house, and a solar prewire which is a empty conduit from the attic to the basement (where the breaket panel will be, 400A), is the option. There is also an option for an empty conduit to the garage, plus a 50A garage outlet. Is there anything else they should look at? Northern Virginia if that makes a difference.

    Also another item to clarify is that you cannot combine or mix P series batts with T series batts correct?

    • @IndependentEnergyHawaii
      @IndependentEnergyHawaii 11 місяців тому +1

      Correct, the new 5P batteries and future battery generations from Enphase will not be backwards compatible with the prior Enphase Battery products. It is unfortunate, but necessary as Enphase is phasing out Bluetooth/zigbee communication. They are moving towards all direct line communications, which is a good move for the future, but a tough transition.

      @@IndependentEnergyHawaii Right! That makes sense regarding communication’s platforms on the newer equipment. I will make sure my future system uses the P series.

    Do you ever add Span Panels into a system? Does Enphase have a similar product? Thanks.

    • @ShaneTheGeek

      As far as I know Span panel integration with Enphase is currently in beta. Enphase does not make a competing product with Span.

      @@ShaneTheGeeknot in beta. With a remote meter SPAN + Enphase integrates. Enphase doesn’t have a competing product. We have installed SPAN+Enphase together, our customers are happy with it!

    My takeaway on the microinverter clipping and pairing discussion; Why pay extra for a microinverter that only in theory provides maximum module output for an hour of the day when sell-back rates are minimal under NEM3.0 for example. Why be overpower capable for 90%-95% of the day. Optimal output even in theory is a short season on the calendar, Is max capability a good spend? Is it worth it? You do not need a Ferrari engine capability all day all year. Besides, in a few years the module will lose optimal performance capability, not in theory but because the manufactures warranty states as much. There is no prize money. The money win is over the life of the array:)
    Interesting video from a stockholder point of view. Solar Edge and Enphase holder I am.
