That engine cover is only held on by 4 little posts that come up from the engine. You can literally just pull up from each of the four corners. No tools required. And you can put it right back on if you want to, no trouble. Again, no tools required.
@@FatalFist what I did was from the backside dremeled out the fake mesh all of it and then smooth it out with sandpaper and then put a metal mesh in behind
what if i took the hood insulation off, bought vents that have the holes in them already, then put them in, and then put the hood insulation back on? would water get trapped in between when it rains? or would there be room for it pour out if i lift the hood up for it come out?
Ronnie varun I’ve had it like this for some time, I haven’t had any problems with it and it rains a lot in Louisiana.. My car isn’t garage kept, but it also isn’t around many trees when sitting. Like I said, I’m not too worried about the small amount of water getting into it from rain.. It’d be the bigger objects that I wouldn’t want in there. If you don’t feel too comfortable then put mesh behind it, I’m just here to show what works for me. P.S... Thanks for watching and commenting👍🏽
I’m thinking about it, but I’m also kinda digging the look of nothing there.. I know that I gotta keep in mind that things can get in through the holes
Daryl Benitez nothing, the rain water never really sits in the engine bay for too long. I daily my car, and drive it often and I haven’t had any problems with it
It looks dope bro!! Great job. I might do mine lol. But do be careful not having the fire guard at least cut around the vents that way you can put it back.
I tore that thing up lol, I feel like if the engine catches fire I’m not gonna wanna keep the car anyways.. Plus I didn’t have this on my bk1 Genesis either😅
Also rip all that insulation foam out from underneath the engine cover and put the cover back over when it's going to rain and that prevents the water from getting on the intake and everything I also lay a garbage bag over top of the engine cover to keep water off the alternator and all the other components
It always gets wet when it rains.. Nothing happened to me yet, but I also daily drive the car and the water never really just sits in the engine bay. Majority of the things under the hood can get wet, but not just sit with water on them for a while
@@pj_morrison It actually looks good if clean it underneath 🤷♂️ especially with the 3.8 with just short ram intake you would be doing yourself and the car big favor
I like, good Job.👍⚡ I bought a 2015 Genesis Coupe 3.8 last month and planning doing the same this weekend..... ... I will posting some photos in Instagram mazda69.redcat.2005
use full size grinder with zip cut to do the bulk, then a dremal with a sand disc. much faster and on the money.

Wait what?
I also did a thin steel mesh .
I feel like a mesh is much needed. I wanted to drill holes in the fake vents for each and then slide a thin steel mesh under it.
@@FatalFist what I did was from the backside dremeled out the fake mesh all of it and then smooth it out with sandpaper and then put a metal mesh in behind

The insulation would be ugly for one, and yes then you’d have to worry about standing water ruining things and potentially becoming moldy and stuff
@@pj_morrison awh damn, okay thanks man🙏🏼
Is not a problem if water gets in?
What are you gonna do when it rains ?
Nothing lol🤷🏽♂️it’s raining now
Would it be something to be concerned about though? Because im thinking of doing it to my genesis but i dont want something to happen to my engine

Why didn't you just drill holes in between each individual honey comb? It would be cleaner and wouldn't take long.
I actually like the look of nothing there more, and I already planned on replacing them with the carbon ones I have now
@@pj_morrison Thank you for the response. I have a 15 3.8 and like your car and enjoy your videos very much. Keep up the good work.
Epoxy some mesh to the backside
I’m thinking about it, but I’m also kinda digging the look of nothing there.. I know that I gotta keep in mind that things can get in through the holes
Actually taking off the hood insulation can cause your paint to bubble from the heat I wouldn’t recommend doing that
Was about to say xD don't take that blanket off or it'll cause your paint to do all sorts of weird shit xD
No it won't. Some Genesis coupes didn't even come with them
Any rust since then?
None at all
@@pj_morrison ur block is aluminum right? Do you see any pitting or in other words does the silvery metal on your block look splotchy?
@@pj_morrison this is the only deciding factor for me since im close to salt water
What u will going to do when starts to rain?

Thanks for making this video brother! Haven't seen anyone do this!
No problem👍🏽
Any paint issues so far ??
Isn’t water going in there now when it rains?
Gary Geiser yea it does, it isn’t much to worry about tho. Plus my car is never really sitting for long periods of time (weeks) so it’s fine

Won’t it hurt the engine tho cause of the hood?
Lol, well mine’s still running fine and it sits outside in Louisiana🤷🏽♂️
@@pj_morrison hell yea man that was one thing that’s holding me back ima try this rn!!! Thanks for the info 😎
Through the vents, the engine cover on makes it look like you have a Transformer under the hood.
I take that stupid cover off it holds heat
Also rip all that insulation foam out from underneath the engine cover and put the cover back over when it's going to rain and that prevents the water from getting on the intake and everything I also lay a garbage bag over top of the engine cover to keep water off the alternator and all the other components
How does it handle on the rain?
Like normal.. No changes to me
they make aftermarket carbon ones that are actual vents so
I know🙌🏽
Hey man I have a 2014 Hyundai Genesis coupe 3.8 and I hate the hood vents how they fake and can not find the after market ones could you send a link?
Never mind found them they pretty expensive 150$ for sum plastic shit😂😂
Love the vid ! Keep it up !
Thanks, I try to make videos that are relatable
Doing mine this weekend, that melting plastic makes it a bitch for smooth finish!
I like that, been thinking of doing it but wasnt sure how its gonna look but you do it and I like it
Add some mesh to the vents bro. Nice vid
nice little MOD
💆♀️멋진차다 진짜 🤦 이분 튜닝 가즈아 🔥
Looks good bro! Been wanting to do this to my gen for a while.
Appreciate that! Yea, it’s simple enough, just make sure you cut well enough for minimal sanding. Plastic is a pain to sand😭
what happens if you wet your engine with rain
It always gets wet when it rains.. Nothing happened to me yet, but I also daily drive the car and the water never really just sits in the engine bay.
Majority of the things under the hood can get wet, but not just sit with water on them for a while
Just pop them off then pop them on when rains... You barely get heat sink. We Genesis in warm climate all do that..
Nahh, I actually care a lil bit how my car looks😅
@@pj_morrison It actually looks good if clean it underneath 🤷♂️ especially with the 3.8 with just short ram intake you would be doing yourself and the car big favor
i meda my, and i put grill on it

Get rid of the cover. It holds heat in. Same with the engine cover, chuck it.. :)
Lol I’m still debating the engine cover😂🤷🏽♂️
You had a v8 with a blower ... Who cars about the plastic cover ...
Thanks for the view👍🏽
Why not just buy sum new hood scoops on eBay haha
Because I enjoy doing this for free🤷🏽♂️I will still buy new ones soon enough tho
