  • In part 4 of this multi part series we are restoring a barn stored Mk4 R32 Golf interior. We vacuum the carpets, clean and dress the plastics, clean and protect the leather and clean the glass.
    It's been a long time since this car's interior has had a good cleaning, so we decided to take the front seats to help get it as clean as possible. The leather seat had definitely not seen a good cleaning in quite some time, so we used our dedicated leather cleaner to break down the grime and once clean we conditioned them and then added a layer of protection. All the plastic's were cleaned with our plastic cleaner and then dressed with our anti static interior detailer. We finished by spraying some air freshener on the carpets and giving the glass a good clean. Let us know what you think of the result!

    Excellent job, bet the owner is well happy. Luckily I’ve had the pleasure to drive one of these cars in the same colour as my brother as one, it’s the sound what always puts a smile on my face.

      Thank you. They certainly are a beautiful car inside and out! Can’t beat the sound though 😜

    Great work again, but wouldn't it be easier to take the rear bench out too? Did you do the headliner too?

    That glass cleaner looks good, no streaks

      Yes very good glass cleaner, high alcohol content so flashes quickly and lifts soiling away with it rather than just moving soiling around on the surface and re depositing it in the streaks 👌

    Great content, I'm a VW guy myself and followed just for the r32. Small tip a steamer works great with some cleaner of your choice on those leather surfaces, ask me how I know :) I just got done replacing most of the interior plastics in mine (good ole soft touch) now she looks mint!

      Glad you’re enjoying the new content and thanks for the follow. Means a lot. Steamers can be a little aggressive for leather on times, especially on older vehicles.
      Soft touch is a pita, we do have a method of restoring this so stick around if you want some pointers on that front 😁

    Nice work 😎 although I have to admit my wifes car is a lot worse interior wise than that barn stored car 😂
    Those seats are worth a fortune 🤑
    I like the way the products leave the leather and plastics with a matt finish 👍

      Haha, aren’t they always 😂. It was stored well this one, just needed a good all freshen up.

    Hello fella. Did you have the battery disconnected before removing the seats ? And also does your car suffer from sticky bottom half of the dash? Beautiful car by the way 👍

    • @TheDetailHunters
      @TheDetailHunters  2 роки тому

      Evening 😁 yes always remove the battery, can never be too safe.
      Bottom of the dash is fine on this one I believe, is your soft touch coating failing on the plastics maybe?

    • @karlwilkinson9410
      @karlwilkinson9410 2 роки тому

      @@TheDetailHunters yes the soft touch becomes tacky depending on temperature. I leave well alone as contact with a cleaner makes it more tacky. Thanks for reply

      @@karlwilkinson9410 yeah trying to clean that sticky soft touch makes it even worse. VW really made a mistake with soft touch and cracking plastics, you can even see in video how loose is that plastic peace around a gear stick.
