You got it! That crackling low register and the hiss are core elements. You can emulate other singers near accurately with low volume with that technique, cowling of the lips helps A LOT, and finally, to sing like a pro, tuck your uvula back out of the air passage as you let more air out. Last but not least if you do that tucking technique while adding the smallest bit of falsetto, you will be near professional high screamers. I really mean the smallest falsetto, its only really a soft primer for the timber of your vocal chords.
I naturally speak in fry and I approve this short guide ^^ But for real, it's a great guide if you really really don't have the time to learn how to do it on the spot but want a rough idea, really a great guide !
I can do all 3 steps separately, but as soon as I put them together, I sound like I got kicked in the stomach and got the wind knocker out of me. At this point, I've given up...
Awesome tutorial that's: straight to the point, very clear and easy to follow along with. And an introduction to a new song and band. It doesn't get better than this.

I've been doing fry screams for over a decade but I can't seem to get that low tone. I can change between Architects style (if I yell and fry but that's a bit advanced and no I haven't hurt myself doing that it's all about projection) and Sworn In/Bleed From Within/Austin Carlile style, but I can't go lower than that. It just feels like I can't push enough air for the sound to be low or I can't position my throat or tongue (or it comes out weak/hollow feeling/quiet, there's no weight to lows even though I know the tongue trick for gutturals). I'm stuck in the kvlt high screams, ultra high falsetto fry screams or the styles I mentioned above, but nothing lower. And I can't seem to do false chords at all unless they're highs. Your tutorial was phenomenal by the way, a minute long and tells you what you need to do. Finding your style and practicing is the rest of it really. 10/10 tutorial
Every time I try to scream I tear my throat apart and I end up not trying anymore as it feels like my throat is about to bleed. Then some times go by and I want to try again and the cycle repeats. So I never get any real practice in as everytime I hurt my throat I think... I do not want to ruin my throat forever.
@@FrankTheDoomriderJohansen You're not using your diaphragm, probably. When you breathe in, your stomach should expand, and when you scream, you need to tighten your stomach as if you want to show your abs to someone, so the air is being pushed from the diaphragm rather than your chest/throat. You just need to position your throat and let your diaphragm do the rest. I'm not sure how to explain this in English, but Google the diaphragm breathing exercises for singers to get to know that better. Sure, our voices aren't meant to do this for hours on end, but an hour or two session shouldn't hurt that bad or at all.
@@FrankTheDoomriderJohansen And as I've previously stated, you need to find your style. Maybe you can sound like Ben from Shadow of Intent and maybe you can't.
