It’s funny, but I used to laugh at the people in the park doing this, I think because deep down I was jealous of them. I always wanted to learn how to do it but before social media it just wasn’t possible. After 34 years as a truck driver and heavy equipment operator my back and shoulders and the rest of my body are shot. I was strung out on pain killers and opiates for years and I couldn’t work and eventually became homeless. I took a hard look at my life and decided to stop that and began a series of stretches and I learned that yoga and tai chi wasn’t just a load of bs for the trendy set! There’s much wisdom here! I am housed now and begin each day doing my series of stretches and workouts and I took myself off all the pain medicine. Thanks for your self deprecating way of sharing the Chinese names for the moves, don’t sweat any fools who talk trash on UA-cam, anyone who does it can’t have much character or moral integrity anyhow! Liked and subscribed! 💪👊👍🤙🫶🤝

Plus I'm going to give you a virtual hug🤗☺️ I love Bob Ross (yes I know he has passed away unfortunately damn shame) last year in lockdown in UK I was at my mum's house we both shielding and on BBC 4 at 7pm each nite of the week the started showing Bob Ross the joy of painting. My mum is severely vision impaired/blind n it has helped her to see the world differently in that when she looks up at the sky she's seeing cloud's and in her mind she realises oh Bob did that the other day. In a way what little sight she has n that is blurred, she purposefully looks for different sky's n cloudscape, trees the colours around the area she lives. I'm grateful to Bob Ross for that and the peace he instilled n still instills today. ☺️❤️

I appreciate how THOROUGHLY you explain the moves. I’m slow at learning physical coordination and have had so much trouble in dance and martial arts classes my whole life because the teachers show us the overall moves and then expect us to do them. I need your kind of breakdown to understand, this was so much easier to get!!

Damn, I can’t imagine how I’ll end up w/o watching your videos. Growing up as a kid in China I’m always ashamed of not being able to perform push ups and pull ups. While I learned tai chi as a mandatory course during college (yes mandatory), the teacher made it such a humiliating experience that no one wants to touch tai chi after the exam. those mandatory courses just to pass qualifications and body shames from PE teachers really killed all the joy despite I do want to learn those movements. Your videos show that I CAN actually do them without “just keep trying” mentality or being genetically gifted and I could just focus on progressing one day at a time. I just want to thank you for sharing your philosophy on doing whatever movements that completely changed my views on them and allow me to leave those PTSDs behind. Thank you so much Hampton

I am a doctor who is interested in physiology and I found out different types of exercises effects different receptors in the body and do different stuff. Slow fluid movements with lots of mucles involved especially good for muscle strength, bone health and joint health. It also increases attention span and decreases inflamation. (This is just summary since going into receptors, immun response and neurotranmitters would be too much for a youtube comment)
Aerobic exercises also have antiinflamataury effects since it increases cortizol(stress hormone) but this has different effects since it directly stimulate main inhibitory receptors than just do temporary stress response,I realised this type of excersize with breathing exercises actually helped my adhd symptoms. So in short we shouldnt stick to one exercise type and do some variety time to time.

I love that you are sharing Taichi with us, now! When I saw the title of this video, I thought, "Of course! This makes total sense for Hampton to do Taichi!" It just fits. Thank you! I have been learning Qigong this past year and Taichi is always something I have wanted to learn. Thank you!

Thank you my friend for this video! Years ago I was learning Tai Chi until I lost my teacher. Unable to find another class, I lost the ability, but not the love of the art! You've rekindled a desire to relearn. Thank you!

I learned the yang form many years ago then stopped doing Tai Chi. Thanks for bringing it back into my life. It's meditation in movement.

I’ve been weight training for around 25 years. Due to so many injuries from racing motorcycles and hard work, I’ve been put on disability. I’ve looked for something I can do at 55 without hurting myself. I think I just found it. Thank you for sharing this with me.
