    I'm actually the last guy in the video. =)
    The analogy I use to understand it is that the bouncing is an automatic response that comes from the energy grounding down through my feet to the earth, like a lightning rod. From internal training we can open our conduit to allow it to flow, and to whatever degree I can ground it and discharge it fast enough.
    It's a perfect demonstration of the spoken material because as you can see, Adam completely manipulates the described kinks in my system in various ways, and it's all I can do to keep upright. I'm seized.
    If I'm not open/song enough, or if Adam chose to give me an ounce more power, I'd get knocked on my ass, or barrel uncontrollably into the people behind even me more than I already did. The internal force enters immediately and powerfully. With a lesser internal practitioner, I wouldn't respond that way, there'd be no reason to.
    I've got 22 years martial arts experience, 10 in tai chi. Enjoy the journey!

      He just explained what’s happening in this demonstration. And until you experience that kind of internal power you’ll never get it. It looks fake to you because you’ve never experienced authentic internal power I’m guessing.

      Hercules mac I’ll admit I think Adam has many positive points in his teaching and he seems to be very good, but that having been said, there is no such thing as internal power. It is all about structure and mechanics, and the correct application of force. The use of the word qi or other terms in Chinese martial arts was probably a good model for teaching in the past, as it created a good imagery that guided the creation of a certain mechanical and structural state, and guided the efficient application of force.

      No doubt that you can be very powerful by applying structure and body mechanics alone. But what we want to achieve is the releasing of blockages created through muscle tension so the body is able to apply mind force or determination force. Intention, where your body and mind can apply any movement simultaneously with no lag between thought and action with little effort. Structure is very important but the proper mind state or attitude is more important.
      I’m not a Taiji practitioner. But I do train Wing Chun.

    • @tze-weilim1632
      @tze-weilim1632 5 років тому +3

      Hercules mac What I was saying was that structure and mechanics explains everything that happens here, on top of the resistance provided by the opponent, and perhaps some psychology such as the strategy of leading one’s opponent.
      All the descriptions regarding the use of qi are nothing but mental imagery used for visualization. Relaxation may be an important component of kinetic energy and force perception and transfer, but it is not the key to the release of a non-existent qi energy travelling through our bodies.
      Apart from the factors I have mentioned, structure, applied forces, leverage gained from exploiting the weaknesses in structure, potential and kinetic energy, there are no other special energy forms applied here that we do not know of scientifically. There is no real qi entity. It is an imagined concept that causes our minds to bring everything together in terms of structure, mechanics, force, potential and kinetic energy. A stiff structure may not allow a free transfer of energy, and it will not allow efficient absorption of the opponent’s energy.

    Hi, just to add on the bouncing thing, its because the person who is being bounced has a full body connection, so he is literally like a ball, you push on any part of a ball the whole ball moves. It takes a certain amount of skill to even get to that stage.

    This kind of manipulation what is showed in the end is only possible when the other practicioner have at least body unity a keep try to resist. Those stupid movement is what happen when he dont give in but in reality of fight his structure collapse immediately and open him for attack. I think its real but you can't see it as fighting application cause its not. It is like doing push ups. Do they help you in the fight? Yes because they give you more raw power a body unity but still try to do them in the middle of fight is non sence so is the exersice wrong or you don't know how to use your tools. 4:57 - people like this are why people claim internal arts are fake. Myself being an internal WC practitioner know that to not be the case, but still, I don't understand why the students play up the force of the master and react in such stupid ways like that. A couple of people react that way to me as well when I release energy into them, however I know full-well my force isn't making that outcome happen by itself, it's partly based on the other person over-reacting, or possibly even being convinced the power is far more than it is, so the body does totally unnecessary movements like what was shown at the timestamp I've given.

      @inspiringothers7197 5 років тому +2

      @@DiscoverTaiji Yes, they're different animals, but song force is very similar, of course there are many different ways to use it, we can touch their feet through any point of contact etc like you guys can, and I've had students react to me in this same way, yet I know for a fact my force isn't creating that outcome. And I've never seen anybody I've sparred against or that wasn't a student who was testing me seriously react anything like that, as I'm sure you haven't either. But I am happy to be wrong in this situation, I just felt like what was happening with a couple of my students was happening with you, the reaction looks identical. My Sigung Chu Shong Tin also had some students who reacted this way to him. Perhaps it's just the persons body is organised in a different way and that's what's happening, but I have no way to explain how it's happening outside of the student is overreacting or their body is organised differently to most others. Do you have any idea what could be going on in my case?

      @@duckpk10 I agree with you here.
      Taiji is confusing because it has it's root in fighting, so it still has some level of adversity but it's very light.
      You don't fight using Taiji, you should first learn to fight properly, and once you are descent at fighting and understand it well, the study of Taiji Quan is much clearer, but it's just if you want to understand yourself on a deeper level, not everyone is intersted in that and you don't need that to be a good fighter obviously.
      Adam Mizner is really skilled at Taiji but I don't think he is a great fighter, better than average I'd say, but not at the level of a competitor.
      And yes he misleads people into thinking they can emulate what he does in fighting, and yes it's dishonnest or maybe just delusionnal...
      Unfortunately it's very common in the internal martial arts community.
      But again his taiji skill is amazing, he should just be clear with the fact that if you want to fight, you need to train fighting (Stength, conditioning and technique) not Taiji Quan, I already heard him say "if you want to fight go learn boxing", but he still kinda maintain some confusion, I don't if it's voluntary... I prefer not to assume people's intentions.

      It's just not about fighting...it's more about understanding the blockages in your own body and mind, and free yourself from them. Like a standing Yoga, with or without a partner.
      Tai chi has it's root in fighting but really the goal is to harmonise body and mind and harmonise with others.
      Many people are confused about it. Yet it's very simple...
      If fighting is your goal, good athleticism, mental toughness and technique should be the main focus of your training. Then, aside of that do whatever you like.

      it is easier to believe in a lie than to have to work and train hard to develop the truth. most people want the easy option. real internal training is very difficult and takes years of dedication to transform the mind and body, but you gain lots of improvements along the way in any case, so it is the journey that matters. that is why there are so few real internal experts globally. i do not think mizner is a real expert, other than being a good cult leader. if he came up against a trained athlete fighter of moderate ability or a real internal fighter (who doesnt care for youtube or publicity etc) I am not sure he would hold up. but of course he will never ever let that happen. it is sad that this is still going on.

      @@davidwackett9375 Look for the " Da Shou - Heaven Man Earth Taiji " video in the Discover Taiji channel. It's one of the scenes of serious sparring.
      First you see two students going at each other. From the sounds of their strikes one can tell that they're hitting for real. And as they grapple/wrestle, they put in enough strength to make each other very tense.
      Then Shifu Adam comes in and spars with one of the students. The difference in skill level becomes very clear. The student gets repeatedly floored. Towards the end you hear the student panting audibly from exhaustion, further showing that he had indeed been trying very hard to outmaneuvre Adam but to no avail because the moment they touched arms Adam could feel and manipulate his force. (To the student's credit he did manage to hit Adam's cheek once, after which Adam smiled and continued owning him). Another interesting thing is that Adam himself also puts in quite a few aggressive moves, perhaps to show that a TaiJi master need not stay "gentle" during a fight.

    • @StarSpawn06
      @StarSpawn06 5 років тому

      @@davidwackett9375 well, go observe his skill and judge for yourself whether you want to call him "master" or not. You were concerned with whether or not shifu Adam has demonstrated TaiJi with non- compliant training partners, so go observe that. I've already pointed out a video for you. Or better yet, go visit him, and touch arms with him yourself.
      If you're concerned with the official process of earning titles, I can tell you that where I'm learning TaiJi, there's a licensing test for becoming a TaiJi instructor. There's also a gradual process of discipleship, from “entering the door” to “entering the hall”, taking a few years. When the shifu feels he has nothing more to teach the disciple, I guess that's when the latter starts evolving to the next stage: becoming a "master".
      This is the traditional way. There's a saying, “TaiJi doesn't enter the body within ten years”, referring to a rough idea of how long it takes to "master" TaiJi with consistent training.
      TaiJi isn't actually a “technique-centred” martial arts. By that I mean you can't look at a TaiJi “move” and easily analyze, “oh, he gained leverage this way and struck that way.” So if you're thinking that a "master" is simply someone who knows a lot of tricks, that's not it.
      Rather, TaiJi conditions the mind and body to feel and exert force in a way that a human normally can't. And that's why it looks “fake”. Because you can't easily explain what's the “technique” being used.
      It's like tightrope walking. What “technique” does a tightrope walker use to be able to tightrope walk (much less perform acrobatics on a tightrope, which I know is possible because I've seen it)? Actually it's
      mainly conditioning. There's no easily explainable "trick" to it. And that's why it looks unbelievable when you first see it.
