Sensei Southall it's not viable on its own. No one is saying that it is all you have to know. There are some masters teaching internal stuff that will only teach it to people with a lot of training in external martial arts. It is something that helps and is good to know.

I've never seen someone do Taiji the way Mizner does it. What he says in this video is so true. I study Xingyi and we do many takedowns without the use of grabbing. If my shoulders are not sunk and soft the throws don't work. It is very hard to get past not having your shoulders raised or stiff. Also the Yi/Intention is so important.

Song (release) and ting (awareness) and practice is how he is doing it. Most martial arts teach externally and so they are strong and tight. Tai Chi at this level is internal. Once you use strength it is external not internal and then not tai chi. Very well explained in the video.

    Hey everyone !
Hello Mr Mizner, first I want to say here that I have a deep respect for your awesomes skills - which are not a fake thing like a lot of people could believe -seeing this unusual way of generating power. Maybe you have been teached by some master for a part, but I can feel that these is the result of a deep individual research which engage body and mind, intellect and emotions in a hard hard hard way. And I can imagine easily the loneliness it required too. If you are not the only one (some systema guys show awesome habilities too, hiding - I think - the real work to get to it, coming from Chinese way of working the body) but the way you do is impressive.
Nevertheless I have a question and in a way some kind of reserve ! A friendly one ☺️ but important to my eyes :
You guys mastering these skills (you, Chineses and russians) often seems not to be well oxygenated, and not so healthy. I have a pretty good idea I think about the standing and movement work which causes - natural and necessary - strong imbalance (like all physical activity do but here with a strong intensity ) to generate this power.
And these kind of work you must go in but out too... Like a respiration.
So my question is : Do you go out of this work sometimes ? often ?
Thanks a lot Adam (or Mr Mizner)
    Friendly yours
    G

Pugs snap in&out with ladderal foot work u cannot get in contact with there arms and cos of the lack of foot work in marashall arts it will not happen. Well at least for the normal jo blow anyway. Just a thumbs up was your thinking behind this.as boxers are in the ring every day getting a floging. Doing 10 to 15 to 20 rounds a night with one on one flogging it out in the ring blood nose winded nock down every day.i have to say as much as I love Marshall arts to many people put down boxing.in my opinion boxing would have to be the best form of self defense real confidence not fake like black belts. Interception is the key. Stealing the first move, etc. All martial arts are the same. You don't need to be the fastest or the strongest but you have to be there in time with the exact force. The harmony.
That needs practice no matter the style is. MMA, TMA, etc.

Its nothing to do with chi its science and takes min to learn. When he tenses its force against force so strongest wins. You simply relax and push even slightly in another direction all his force then follows yours. Like pushing on the side of a car push as hard as you like but as it moves forward you and your force go with it simple

It is acutally easier to do that while sitting. In that way you have actually 4 legs and your center of gravity is much lower. If you practice internal arts, try it yourself. The important thing is to open up the shoulder and he will not teach you that. So don't waist your money.

Hi Adam, thank you for the great insight on internal work. It is my understanding that in Qigong we do a lot of twisting in particular twisting of the spine in bone marrow practice. You have mentioned that twisting will result in emptying the Qi, does it mean that Qigong practitioners can’t achieve results that you are teaching in Taiji? I have studied with Shaolin monks for a short period of time and have watched them very closely for number of years as they demonstrated hard core Qigong, iron shirt, etc due to their ability to store and redirect Qi to any parts of the body. I was wondering if you could comment on twisting in Qigong vs. not twisting in Taiji, are these different Qi or am I missing something? Thank you.

He is doing two different things and passing it off as the same. First time he try's to push DOWN, cant move the guy. Second time he PUSHES/PULLS slightly to the side AND at a higher point on his arm. The guy may be in a solid stance but his forearms and hands extend beyond his front knee. He's vulnerable to manipulation at the those points. This is not magical, although some may think it is. It's pure physics. It's a technique passed off as 'Chi' . These are valid techniques for manipulating a persons balance but nothing to do with 'internal energy'. BJJ, wrestling etc. all do it but with less compliant partners. Aikido does it with compliant partners...Look at what he's doing, don't listen to what he says...
